Serie A - It's a bit crap, really

Oh I see which one this is now. This is the ranking system Uefa uses to determine how many places each country gets each season (CL places/Uefa cup places) and so is very much based on how teams from a country do in those competitions in previous years.

It doesn't really tell you about which league's quality is best/competitive all throughout (so it's not exactly what we were looking for Thomas, what we were talking about is quite different than just how the big teams of these countries do but then agin what we were looking for would take 100 factors in there and doesn't EXIST and hence why the right ansewr is what RuneEdge and others said. There is no best league.. just watch what you like ) or by how much as it doesn't take into account Le Mans vs. Troyes matches from what I understand like this past weekend which again was a very entertaining.

and PSG and Marseille lost AGAIN to Ajaccio (lol as I mentioned in example without knowing score the giant killers and Nice, Tiptoe will be happy :) )
 
Yep the French league is on par with the Premiership for entertainment. And much of it is the smaller teams playing against each other. Most of the bigger matches have been dissapointing. Like Lyon v Auxerre.

The 'open' leagues:

France
Spain

thats about it lol

Theres a fine line between quality and entertainment. And then theres how fashionable a league is (big name players and clubs)

Sorry, not sure what your meaning by 'open' but if your talking about who can win the Championship then every other major league bar the Premiership have less points between 1st and 2nd than those 2 leagues that you've listed and there are more than 2 teams capable of winning the leagues too at that.

Also guys (Milanista, ClassicD etc) what has me being a mod got to do with anything? I started a thread in regards to Serie A, and I have my opinions. I have not tried to cause ANY arguments - internet forums are for DEBATE and it has been a good one and I respect all of your views but I have mine!

I'm basing that more on the history of the league. Yes Lyon have dominated the french league recently, but you've had suprise packages win the title like Nantes and Lens. Then in Spain, Valencia, Sociedad coming close etc. Ososuna

This season not so, as Barca and Lyon are running away with it.

Italy, well no-one outside the big three have a chance

Thanks man, you seem like a powerful soul to me.

Now here's my opinion. Classifying a league as crap hasn't got anything to do with debate. Usually in a debate people have prepared some of the things they want to say. They look at facts, they construct their opinion. You haven't showed me a single constructive fact. Stadiums are always filled in England? This has always been the case. Better players? Up for debate, not a fact. This is coming from a guy who's not a fan of Italian football at all btw.
You should be proud of your league, it's got the best atmosphere in the world, but when you look at it from a neutral point of view, you can't say you've got the best league in the world. Also by saying that, you should know you stir things up instead of going into a debate. Then after a few guys came up with their opinion, you tell them you're drunk and they should get a girlfriend and leave the house more. It's pathetic really dude, that when I post some stuff, you act like I'm doing something terribly wrong. That's kind of silly of you to be honest.

As was already said, your analysis is far from impressive, low attendances, have you seen the nick of some of the stadiums that have appeared on Sky? Cheating players LOL..............

FD: I see your point, mate. I didn't mean to start an argument. As for modding, I do a decent job in the PES Xbox thread, which is where I am needed. I still think Serie A is a bit crap.
 
Take it easy Ninja......you have brought this upon yourself with your past posts from way back about your personal life :mrgreen: - if you can't even handle having the piss taken outta you, then well....:eh: (you should learn to relax!).

Anyway, this issue about single/dual club domination of the league. Its no secret that football and commercialism are in bed together (and loving it apparently). We're finding that the richer clubs are getting richer and the poorer clubs are getting poorer.

Whether we want to face it or not, club loyalty is pretty much non existent these days with the days of a good player spending years in one team getting numbered. When a player from a "lower" team shows a bit of talent (e.g. SWP? Bridge?), the bigger clubs immediately gobble them up and we often find that the "lower" club suffers (as well as the player in question).

Club monolopy is sadly becoming a way of life as long as money talks in the big leagues. Unless something miraculous happens (i.e. Abrahmovich buying Chelsea) clubs will continue to suffer from midtable-to-2ndplace mediocrity... :(

You weren't doing that though, you were giving it 'FACT' and all this pish in a clear attempt to wind folk up/provoke an argument - fishing. Or at least that's how I read it, would appear others thought similarly.

Well, my final 2 cents on this matter...

Ninja, when you make such a statement like "Serie A - it's a bit crap, really" you're bound to cause controversy. Some of the other posters are quite loyal supporters of the italian league (some dedicating their whole lives) - imagine if some random was to say that the EPL is overrated shiteness? Of course you're gonna expect some abuse!

Unless the poster is loyal and knowledgeable about Serie A, very few will take this thread seriously. Unfortunately, with your info restricted to Football italia and the Daily Mail, most will doubt you are either :eh: :mrgreen:

And I'd like to add that he showed a serious lack of respect to a league that has produced some of the greatest players in history.
Maybe if he was Italian, he'd understand...

A bit off-topic but i read in the World Soccer magazine that the Perugia Owner/President sacked a Korean player (can't remeber his name) for scoring the goal that knocked Italy out of the world cup back in 2002. LOL

I have nothing wrong with you thinking the league is shit. But when you go "FACT" at the end of every line, its actually quite irritating and stupid looking.
