Rematch - New Football Game

If you are a PC player having trouble joining a match/room in REMATCH because of an Easy Anti-Cheat integrity error (e.g. 0x2200), try this:
  1. Terminate all REMATCH processes
  2. Run the Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator
  3. Paste the following command into the command prompt and hit enter to terminate the running Easy Anti-Cheat process
    Code:
    taskkill /F /IM EasyAntiCheat.exe
  4. Delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat and C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS folders (only the latter seems to be relevant for REMATCH)
  5. If running, terminate the EasyAntiCheat and EasyAntiCheat_EOS services (you can use the Services tab in Task Manager)
  6. "Verify the integrity of beta files" in the REMATCH BETA TEST Steam settings
  7. Run REMATCH via Steam, let the installers install Easy Anti Cheat EOS and for any prompts by the firewall, allow access to it
  8. Rematch should now be open and you should be able to join matches without the EAC integrity error
If it still doesn't work, repeat steps 1–5, then deactivate your Windows or third-party firewall completely (only do this if you are aware of the consequences), then follow steps 6–8. Now enable the firewall again.

Played for a couple of hours and I must admit it was more fun than I expected. There a few issues with the game though. Passing mechanics should be reworked/improved to allow and motivate users to utilise teamplay. As it is and especially on 4vs4 and 5vs5 almost everyone is trying to play on their own when they have the ball. I think I was the only one trying to pass the ball around without using the wall behind the goal. They also need to improve the camera imo. Something feels off because after 2h I was still struggling a bit which shouldn't be the case. I haven't tried the fixed one (pressing Y) though. It might be better.
As an older gamer I don't like modern multiplayer games with the exception of Rocket League and some single player ones with co-op. With some QoL fixes I think I'll play more this one. There's a lot room for improvement if the devs are willing to listen.
Maybe it's just me nitpicking again but if I was the dev I would release some arenas without a wall behind the goal to force more methodical teamplay.

Yeah if you got the pro or elite version if not this Thursday.

Hoping for a smooth release with most of the bugs ironed out

The game's great but I'll wait a couple years for it to go on sale for 50% off, not really worth it right now for me.

Free on Game Pass and out today.

Have to say, the reviews are generally excellent (e.g. Eurogamer's).

I'd be much more open to it if the ball didn't teleport in every single clip I've seen (but obviously I'll try it considering that it's free)!

I don't know. I've tried that. It's kinda reminds me Rocket League. But less fun.

This game was never intended to me, I don't like much that arcade style. I feel like with proper outs, offsides and slower pace gameplay this could potentialy be a very good game.

Imho game mechanics are pretty good, controls feels nice, you know what's happening around you on the pitch, it's just too fast paced and arcady to me. But I think it has a chance to find its own fans.

Initially bought it for full price on STEAM to test it out, refunded it, then repurchased it from CDKEYS for $19. Don't mind if I do.

One of my good friends purchased the game with me and honestly, we had a lot of fun in the few hours we played. Skill ceiling and and expression seems high and lot of the core mechanics felt satisfying to use. The overall feel of the game exceeded my admittedly low expectations. The game's foundation appears to be very solid, but we'll see once I've logged some more hours. I imagine it's how they manage balancing, bugs and exploits going forward that will determine its long-term viability. My player also feels more grounded with the pitch than FIFA/EA FC. Imagine my surprise.

They're adding the ability to remap controls which is a Godsend because my FIFA/PES muscle memory runs deep. LB to sprint? What is this sorcery...
It's been eons since I enjoyed a football game to this degree that wasn't PES or FIFA related (not counting managerial games or strategy/RPGs). World Tour Soccer/This Is Football in the early aughts? That was middling at best, but it had its charm. Mario Strikers for the Gamecube? Either way, it's left me wanting more while I wait for the refund to take effect.

Bravo so with the history of Keysellers the developer will see nothing of the money for a game you enjoy. Well done!

I still don't get why in 2025 people use Keysellers for Indie Games. I thought everyone knows by now this damages studios and often means they see zero money of those sales.

If you want a studio to make more games then buy them in the official stores. Can't afford it? Wait for a sale.

Completely agree with this for Indie games.

The developer will still get some of the money from the sale of the game maybe $2-3.
Where if he kept the steam purchase they would of got $20.

I always buy Indie games from official stores or from developers own website if they sell keys themselves.

It's only 20 pounds on the UK PSN store, which does not equal 30 dollars (US PSN store), I guess we have 'ol Orange Menace to thank for that one

I don't want to be Dr. Serious, Professor Buzzkill, Mr. Nobody Have A Good Time...

...but are you telling me - even though it's an arcade game - you aren't going to be pissed off by these ball physics?

When the ball clearly goes in the net but then teleports into the goalkeeper's hands? Come on, man... Why are we here, in 2025?

They make it look like your input matters (which is the whole energy of this studio - that their games are organic), and then - after nailing the ball into the bottom corner - it's not a goal?

The keeper deflected it because of the angle. He just made an input as good as you. You obviously nailed it down the post, but because of the running angle and how you could shoot, it went with towards the goal with a trajectory where the keeper could just stop it.

Firstly, it's not my video - so it's not like I'm butthurt about it.
Secondly, my point is that the ball is teleporting. It goes beyond the keeper, into the goal, and then magically comes out again.

The same applies to the dribbling etc. - the ball moves around without any contact.

I understand it's an arcade game and most will be okay with that, but personally, it just leaves me feeling completely deflated with how disconnected it is - e.g. "how is a tackle gaining possession and then un-gaining it when the server 'catches up', my reality isn't what's actually happening".

I've tried the game a few times now and I'm just left feeling like 1) there's no point because nobody passes, and 2) all the physics are completely cartoony and unsatisfying. It's not for me.

The one bit that does make me think "I wonder if there's more to this" (for other football games) is the different control method. A trigger for kick strength? Very interesting. I'd rather see it used in a pressure-sensitive fashion like analog buttons were used in the early PS2 ISS games (that was truly innovative IMO) - not just holding the trigger down but having a split-second to register the power. Pressing it all the way down leading to a shot blasted over the bar etc...

Football gaming has become stale and the latter is something that could add a new dimension - but not with this gameplay, IMO.

I share some of your feelings but the point is what you said, being an arcade, physics are actually not that important.

At the beginning I feel people don't pass cause no one knows how to defend and you can literally humiliate the opposing team by holding RB and pressing a which is the aerial trick.

However I managed to defend that a couple of times already by simply getting in front and holding LT, and the player will stay in a defensive position, intercepting what comes close. I feel that in more advanced level people know how to defend tricks and passing is much more important.

Yet, I understand what you mean, sometimes it feels like you don't need to accommodate the body and the game is way too fast and precise, so I can understand it doesn't give what we are craving for, but at least is a game where positioning of the character depends on the player and not some dumb AI, which makes it na interesting proposal. Also, speed and ball dueling is at a spot where it feels ok for the kind of game it tries to be.

It's clearly a game for football casuals, the kind of kids that see kings League, play Fortnite/Valorant and like football just a bit, which is probably 90% of FIFA players + other people that don't even play FIFA.

But the truth here is that this game is much more fun to me that a game like FIFA or even PES where players stop following mark's randomly and don't understand when they have to follow a mark or when to go back into their position on the formation, like if they are freaking dumb, or simply a player passes close to them and they're not able to put a foot in the middle trying to catch the ball. Or the opposite, a game where pressure is relentless on top instead of being positional and cleverly executed, that forces you to build forward in any way.

Truth is, micro of Rematch (dribbling, physics, etc.) is completely arcade, but in it's core, macro (positioning, how you play the game, etc.) is all dependant of players and not a dumb AI and that makes it kind of enjoyable when playing with players that know how to play at least a bit.
