Yeah it was in one of Marcel's two blogs about his Stuttgart side I believe.
You not only get prize money for finishing certain places in a league as a club but then based on this (he finished 2nd in Bundesliga) the board might allocate some of this to your transfer budget and increase it if they were happy with your performance as they were with his.

We got a budget and wage increase for getting through the 5th round of the cup, we didn't win anything...
