Breakthrough: Break the 4,000 Fixture Limit & Say Goodbye to Save-Time Crashing!

First and foremast, I would like to thank VivianRoberto (a.k.a DonnieDarko666) for his incredible research on this topic as well as his assistance by sharing his reverse engineering materials and stuff. Without his contribution and support, I don't think this would've been possible and successful! I've also used AI agents for reverse engineering, analysing and building the code. This is mainly tested on v1.00 Release/Disc Version of the game (as I play in this way). Therefore, I don't know whether this would work perfectly on any other build (like v1.07 - Latest version). So, keep this in mind.

For years, one of the biggest roadblocks in FIFA 16 modding has been the hardcoded CompData limits in Career Mode. Modders/Patchers trying to build massive modern tournament structures, expanded European cups, or realistic calendars with thousands of custom fixtures were constantly halted by two notorious game crashes:
1. Fixture Overflow Crash (FootballCompEngzf.dll+0x3A1EE): The game ran out of slots once you passed 4,000 fixtures and crashed during calendar generation.
2. The "Save Crash" Heap Corruption (fifa16.exe+0x55172EE): Even when capacities were forced via Cheat Engine, saving the career crashed the game because the game's internal save-file buffer was hardcoded to a fixed ~1.83 MB arena that overflowed into neighbour heap tags.

Today, I am releasing a drop-in runtime proxy patcher (`winmm.dll`) that completely lifts these limits and solves both issues simultaneously!

Key Features

1. Massive Table Capacity Expansion

All 13 internal competition engine tables have been scaled up to handle heavy modern calendar schedules:
  • Fixtures Table: 4,000 ➔ 26,000 slots (+550% capacity! Easily supports 7,000+ custom fixtures)
  • Schedule Records: 7,000 ➔ 16,000 slots
  • Standings Table: 5,300 ➔ 10,000 slots
  • Advancement Rules: 4,000 ➔ 8,000 slots
  • Competition Settings: 4,000 ➔ 8,000 slots
  • Competition Objects: 2,000 ➔ 4,000 slots
  • Competition Teams: 500 ➔ 2,000 slots
  • Scripted Tasks: 800 ➔ 2,000 slots
  • Weather Records: 330 ➔ 1,000 slots
  • Active Teams: 64 ➔ 128 slots
  • Stage Advancement: 100 ➔ 500 slots
  • Competition IDs: 100 ➔ 500 slots
  • Statistics: 7,000 ➔ 14,000 slots
2. Dynamic Save Buffer Arena Expansion (No More Save Crashes!)
  • Expanded Career Mode's internal save serialization buffer from the stock 1.77 MB baseline to 8.0 MB (+6.2 MB extra buffer headroom!).
  • Expanded Tournament save buffer from 1.57 MB to 4.0 MB.
  • Completely eliminates the dreaded boundary-tag heap corruption crash (0x55172EE) on career creation and mid-season saves.
3. Memory Allocator Unification
  • Automatically redirects the temporary FETemp allocation pool to FEMode at game launch, eliminating memory pool exhaustion and null pointer crashes during heavy season simulation.
4. 100% Plug-and-Play (Zero Exe Modification)
  • No Cheat Engine needed.
  • No modifying or unpacking fifa16.exe.
  • Built as a native Windows proxy DLL (winmm.dll). You simply drop the file into your FIFA 16 root folder, and Windows loads it automatically with zero configuration.
  • Automatically creates a clean compdata_patcher.log in your game directory so you can verify that every single table and budget patch was applied successfully.

Stability & Test Results
  • 3 Full Seasons Simulated: Tested with an intensive 2025-season schedule expansion containing 7,328 custom fixtures across 21 competitions with zero crashes.
  • Save/Load Integrity Verified: No save data corruptions, loading bugs/glitches or crash so far.

Installation Instructions
  1. Download the attached .zip package below.
  2. Extract the package and open the folder, you will see a dlc folder and a winmm.dll, copy them into your FIFA 16 main directory, replace the files if asked.
  3. Launch the game as usual (Open EA App, then click the top-left bar icon, click Go Offline, then launch the game).
  4. (Optional Verification) Check your FIFA 16 folder for compdata_patcher.log. You should see:
Code:
========================================================
SUCCESS: All patches successfully verified and applied!
  1. Save Budgets: Career 8,000,000 B, Tournament 4,000,000 B
  2. Allocator Redirect: FETemp -> FEMode active
  3. Table Capacities: All 13 tables expanded

FAQ & Troubleshooting
  • Q: Will this work with existing Career Mode saves?
  • Yes! Existing saves load normally. However, to take advantage of expanded fixture schedules (e.g. 7,000+ fixtures in schedules), starting a new career with your custom mod is recommended.
  • Q: Is my fifa16.exe modified on disk?
  • No. Your original executable remains untouched on disk. All expansions occur safely in memory upon launch.
  • Q: I am using the latest version of the game thru EA App, does it work with this?
  • This expansion was done based on the Release version of the game (v1.00), therefore, I cannot guarantee you that if works or not. Try it by yourself. Only use winmm.dll and do not replace any other files [See Post #3 for more info!]
  • Q: I am on warez/cracked version of the game, can I use this expansion?
  • Yes, you can. But do not expect any support. That version is based on the latest version of the game and the warez/crack release itself have major stability issues on its own. [See Post #3 for more info!]
  • Q: How do I uninstall it?
  • Simply delete winmm.dll and compdata_patcher.log from your game folder.

Feedback & Bug Reports
Since this is a community public test, please share your test findings! If you encounter any unexpected behavior, please attach your compdata_patcher.log from the game folder and details about the mod / schedule set you are using.

Enjoy building massive tournament structures and calendars in FIFA 16!

Future Plans:

I am planning to make ASI plugins without patching the dll files. This would help creating more mods equivalent to PES' sider lua modules.

Clarifying a few things..
By release build, I mean v1.00. When you usually right-click the exe file and go to details, you generally see File Version: 1.0.0.0, that doesn't necessarily mean you're using v1.00 build. Instead, go to Digital Signature tab, the timestamp date should be 29th August 2015. Anything other than this means you're not using v1.00 build. Example image in the spoiler below:

If you are on the latest version of the game, which is v1.07 build. The digital signature timestamp date should be "7th July 2016". This project is not build for this version of the game as my intention to make it work on the version that I play, again, which is v1.00. Digital Signature of the v1.07 in the spoiler below:

For those who are on the latest version of the game (v1.07 - EA App), I actually don't know if this expansion works for you. But I would suggest you to restore/revert your dlc folder and only test the winmm.dll to avoid any crash. If you cannot restore, you can find the attached zip file down below (Restore.zip). Download and extract the file, you will see a dlc folder. Place the folder in your game folder, replace it if asked.

There is also a warez/cracked version of the game floating around the internet is build based on the latest version of the game, which is v1.07. I do not support the warez/cracked version of the game. So, if you are using the warez/cracked version or whatever, you are your own. Don't ask for support here. I am sorry.

About the Release/Disc Version of the game:

I particularly play this due to the build being more "superior" than the latest version of the game. The updates have actually loosened the game up a bit in terms of physics, positioning, AI awareness and so on. I have played both v1.07 and v1.00. I am currently on v1.00 (for so long), which I prefer. Although v1.07 still plays better compared to other modern football games. The difference can be very minute, but v1.00 still plays a better game. Simple as that. It's all about personal preference, really. To be able to play this release version, you must own the game on EA App first. Also, you need to have the v1.00 full build, which I shared thru Google Drive a few years ago on the EvoWeb forum. Google Drive Link: Click Me!

If you are willing to give it a try, go the above link and download it. Rename your old FIFA 16 folder to something like "FIFA 16 - v1.07" and extract the archive and name the main folder "FIFA 16". Do not update the game and use the EA App in offline mode before playing it. Good luck and have fun!

Hello everyone, I had to clarify a few things, please check Post #3.

I've also update the FAQ section in the Post #1. Please check that as well. Thanks.

Hi, I'm a bit of a noob in terms of understanding this kind of tools so let me see if I got this right.... so this is to avoid crashes when you use mods that expand the database?
Thanks for the clarification :)
