Uruguay 2012-13 away

img_20240715_111736_hdr-jpg.1357995

I started to follow Uruguay during Copa America 1995 where they won the final against Brazil.

I was in vacation in Italy that day and watched that game late at our hotel. Other persons watching that game were supporting them (maybe because Brazil won vs. Italy one year before at WC '94, but not sure). I was also supporting them but can't explain why. Maybe because I was just discovering this team who did not play USA '94. Since then, they become my favourite South American team.

They always had players I liked - e.g Forlan, Fonseca (the one playing at Juve in the 90s), Zalayeta, Montero, Cavani, Ebreu, ...

And then my UC Sampdoria ones. After Juventus, UC Sampdoria is a team I support in Italy with also Brescia.

On top, the 2020-21 (away and home) by Macron.
Below, the 2007-08 home by Kappa and the re-edition of the 1991-92 away by Copa (when they reached the Champion Clubs Cup final).

And speaking about Brescia :

I've started to follow them in 2001 when the team was managed by Carlo Mazzone and when they hired Roberto Baggio. Between 2001 and 2004 they had great players like Pep Guardiola, Dario Hubner, Luca Toni or Andrea Pirlo.

Now they are in Serie C but I still follow them.

Mazzone was one of a kind manager. It's him who understood Baggio the best, bring back confidence to Guardiola or moved Pirlo to the position where he became one of the best.

Infortunately, Carletto passed away yesterday. I'll always remember his crazy run under Atalanta's fans. Today I'll wear this shirt to honor this great man of golden age Italian football.

NB : the #10 of Roberto Baggio has been retired when Baggio ended his career in 2004.

2020-21 home :

Tigres UANL Home 1997-99
Tigres UANL is my favourite Mexican club and simply one of my favourite club. And this one is my favourite Tigres jersey. It's an L and then looks oversized on me but it's anyway the way those 90's shirts needs to be worn. :)

Tigres UANL Home 2022-23
Nothing fancy about this jersey but they won 2 titles : Clausura 2023 and Cameón de Campeones (match between apertura and clausura winners).

Acapulco GK 2019
Acapulco is a 3rd division club but also the home town of my favourite GK, Jorge Campos. In 2019, the club issued a Jorge Campos tribute kit. I could not pass on this one.

Flamengo

This is my favourite Brasilian team. I used to be a fan of Romario and then I started to follow this team.
I've the home 2023 shirt and a re-issue of the home 70's shirt by Toffs.

On the Vegas one, there is a fun reverse side to celebrate goals and the Galaxy one is printed with Chicharito.

Mexico #1 Jorge Campos Diamonds
This is an official re-release by Raute Sport of one of the crazy jerseys imagined and worn by legendary goalkeeper Jorge Campos.

I started to admire this goalkeeper from the World Cup 1994 in the USA.

Mexico 1998 Home #15 Luis Hernandez
I definitely fall in love with team during the 1998 World Cup in France.

El Matador was my favourite field player of the team and he scored 4 goals in 4 matches. Too bad he could not kill the game against the German in the round of 16 while Mexico was still 1 goal ahead...

Mexico #1 Jorge Campos Moon

This is another official re-release by Raute Sport Jorge Campos wore this kit during the Confederations Cup '99 which was won by Mexico.

Mexico 2022-23 home

A recent one featuring the new crest.

I don't have many but I'm slowly building my collection (I use to buy one each time I visit a place, especially abroad, as a souvenir).
Currently I have (hoping to list them all)...
  • A Cremonese shirt from the '80s
  • An AC Milan home shirt from I think late '80s, early '90s
  • An Italy shirt from I think 1990
  • An Atalanta away shirt from like 1992 or 1993
  • Mexico 1994 home shirt
  • Brazil 1995 away shirt
  • AC Milan 1996/97 'Wierchowod' home shirt
  • AC Milan 1997/98 'Albertini' away shirt
...these ones were my father's. I may still have some others at my old house... Gotta check.
And these are mine:
  • 2008/09 AC Milan home
  • 2009/10 Arsenal third (the navy one with the polo collar)
  • 2009/10 Barcelona home
  • 2011/12 AC Milan home
  • 2016/17 Arsenal away
  • 2017/18 'Jallet' OGC Nice home
  • 2018/19 Malaga away
  • 2019/20 Mallorca away
  • 2020 Germany home
  • 2020 Portugal home
  • 2020/21 Arsenal home
  • 2020/21 Ajax home
  • 2021/22 Benfica home
  • 2021/22 Juventus third (the yellow and blue one)
  • 2022 Belgium home
  • 2023/24 Sudtirol away
Missing ones that I'd love to have one day (because they either weren't affordable for me at that time or just because I decided not to buy them for some reason)...
  • A FC Red Star shirt (been in Paris when I was young but I was too poor to afford one)
  • A Budapest Honved one (again, been there but too poor: I bought an unofficial one just for the sake of it)
  • The 2023/24 AS Roma third shirt, the black one (no way I'm paying 100€ for a football shirt!)
  • A Sevilla shirt (wife put a strange "one shirt per trip" rule so I got to choose Malaga instead, I would've opted for a "one shirt per city" one to be honest)

1996 home
This kit was used during Euro '96. It's also the first official kit my parents gifted me as a kid.

This one is a prepared one, from Italy's federation own stock. It was prepared for a youth or the main team with number 7. At Euro '96 it was Donadoni but this number was more often used by Di Livio, a player I liked a lot.

You can identify it was not one you could find in a shop as it's not featuring the Nike logo or label (normally at the front bottom). Just the inside label says it's a Nike. These shirts were also only available as L or XL.

2006 away
This was the away kit brought in WC 2006 in Germany but it has never been used as Italy always played in blue.

  • 2021/22 Juventus third (the yellow and blue one)
  • 2022 Belgium home
  • 2023/24 Sudtirol away
Meanwhile I added some other ones to the collection:
  • 2019/20 Juventus home (the half-black, half-white one... It was too particular to pass on it)
  • 2022 Sweden home (I absolutely love that adidas design, to the point that I now have 6 shirts made with that design)
  • 2023/24 Bayern Munich home
  • 2023/24 Arsenal away
  • 2023/24 Real Madrid third (the black one)
  • 2023/24 Borussia Dortmund home
  • 2023/24 AS Roma home (I think that all three the AS Roma player kits from the past season are among the best adidas ever releasaed)

At first I did not like the Juve 19/20 but now I love it.
Same here. When I saw the first renders I thought "what the hell is this?" to be honest, and even when I first saw the real thing I thought that the pink stripe down the middle made no sense. But then, little by little, it grew on me.
I must admit that Juventus had many very good kits lately, like the 2020/21 away (which one day I'll buy) and the 2021/22 away (the one you also have), but they also had some "very particular" ones (like the 2019/20 home and the 2021/22 third which I actually like pretty much even if anyone else seems to hate it).

Another one that I'd love to have one day is the Fiorentina 2021/22 home (the one with the white stripe on the front and the red outline on the round collar). It looked so good!
