Please help sound lag problem.

Hi, I bought a geforce 6800xt today and im running on top resolution and detail now. However, I am getting sound lag/delay and it is really annoying. Ive tried the directx sound acceleration and it hasnt worked.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what is causing the problem?

My spec: AMD athlon XP 2400, 1gb ram, 80gb hd, Geforce 6800xt 256mb AGP.

Any help would be appreciated.
