PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Not really. If I was on Fifa-Web for example, constantly trying to convince Fifa players that PES is the better game, then yes, your comment maybe true.
Why can't a forum have both? I think that's a very narrow-minded point of view, and when you say "trying to convince people" that's not exactly true; look how many people go into the FIFA threads and arrange FIFA matches etc. no convincing necessary. A lot of people prefer FIFA now and see things in it that you don't, end of story.

Saying that, I agree with you in the sense that I don't come into this sub-forum to read about FIFA, whether people are saying it's shite or it's great. I don't come to Evo-Web to read EXCLUSIVELY about PES - if that's all that was allowed on here I wouldn't bother because I'm not a fan of the series as it is now. I come here for the people (who I've conversed with for years), and luckily for me a lot of the people have started playing FIFA. They're not trying to convince anyone of anything, they're staying in the FIFA sub-forum and discussing the game. I don't see what harm they're doing. BUT, I don't go into threads like this one to read about FIFA, and that is annoying. Perhaps you think the moderators could be more strict on that front? I don't know.

The point is, I wouldnt waste my time or effort. If people cant appreciate the glaring differences in technical realism and physics between the two games, then more fool them.
Again, you wouldn't waste your time or effort, and yet you are. And your opinion is not fact. If you think it is, then more fool you. :BORED: (No offence intended, I'm just putting that in the context that you yourself put it in. I may as well say that bananas are the best fruit in the world and if nobody else appreciates the difference in taste between a banana and a technically inferior apple then more fool them, the idiots.)

I actually read a post of yours Jack, stating that you would only play Fifa 09 on assisted as you didnt feel, like me, the semi or manual options really work. Fifa 09 on assisted is about as scripted as it gets. I once, just to highlight to a friend, pressed pass 28 times and every time it went to a team-mate without me even having to direct the pass. That's just not my idea of a simulation. All the glitters certainly aint Gold.

Not sure where you read me saying I'd only use assisted controls, everyone who plays me knows I use semi-everything. Perhaps I said that before I'd got used to it, but either way, having more control over the passing is something I think all football games can benefit from, just as long as you don't constantly play people using auto-everything online (which they do as of now, hopefully in FIFA 10 that won't be the case or yet again I won't be playing online more than once a month).

See, I'm not arguing with your opinion on either game (just the fact that you seem to think of it as a fact) - in the second-to-last FIFA podcast I did (which I don't expect you to listen to for obvious reasons), I actually said that after a week playing PES2009 while I was holiday you realise that the game has several things over FIFA, including the fact that you have to pass about to force a gap to start an attack - whereas FIFA the way it is now is just back and forth, through-ball to striker, lofted-through-ball down the wing. No midfield play whatsoever, apart from the guys who go 1-0 up and then do what you said with the fully-assisted controls (pass pass pass).

But either way, I see the good and bad in both games, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, and my point is - well if you can't cope with FIFA chat on Evo-Web then that's your problem and not ours, tbh. The only posts I seem to read of yours lately are bitching about people thinking PES is shit, then you go on and post how FIFA is shit. Two wrongs don't make a right (and in this instance both are equally annoying).

In the PES sub-forums though I agree, there should be no mention of FIFA. There is a FIFA v PES thread somewhere - I don't know if it was locked but if it was, perhaps it needs to be started again and all comparisons moved into it, with the entirely irrelevant posts that don't contribute to discussion deleted.

EDIT: From another thread...

Unlike Fifa, where it really doesnt seem to matter, every player is virtually the same. Same touch, same control, same ball stuck to foot etc etc.
See Jimmy, the guy you're replying to there didn't mention FIFA at all, but you couldn't resist sticking that line in. If you want other people to listen to you and stop bitching about PES being worse than FIFA in the PES threads, then you should provide a better example. You can't help yourself so how can you expect anyone else to?

I agree with all you said Chris, but I'd like to think we are a little more adult than needing to be modded to death.

Sure the posts can get a little pro product to the point of blind so called "fanboyism", but I think the mods do a good job of moderating those and only stepping in when it's needed...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Chris, with all due respect, the fruit analogy is ridiculous. Also, I bought Fifa. And contrary to what you believe, I certainly dont think its shit by any stretch of the imagination.

It's good for what it is. But you have to admit that until EA sorts out its horrible shooting, scripted 'Finesse' shots and the ability to use statistics in a manner that creates real individualism of its players, then its never going to be able to recreate a true simulation.

It's an arcade game that is trying to be a simulation, but isnt quite there yet. Look at the tricks that are available to nearly every player, and the ability to pull them off at a touch of a button. Please dont tell me thats realistic ?

This is a PES 2010 news thread, and once again, its turning into the old Fifa is better argument. Just like this forum, it's turning into a sham.

The fruit analogy is there to show that, if I was going to be ignorant enough to say my opinion is fact, I could say that about anything I wanted no matter how ridiculous. That wouldn't make it fact and that's how ridiculous it is.

Your post above, I actually agree with all of your FIFA points; you can't hit a low shot unless you're standing two yards from goal (so no Gerrard style goals which is a whole area of the game they're missing), and the players aren't individual enough. I also hate the trick-stick system and I have ever since it was introduced. But even though I agree with you that still doesn't make it fact that it's a worse or better game than any other. The bad things in Pro Evo outweigh the bad things in FIFA for some people, neither is a perfect simulation, you have to let it go.

I understand if you don't want people mentioning FIFA in this sub-forum - I won't mention it again, and until I felt like I had to respond to you I hadn't mentioned it previously (to the best of my recollection ;))). But if you don't want any FIFA talk on the forum at all, not even in designated sub-forums, then... I just don't understand why you've got such a big problem with it. What possible harm is it doing? If people come into these threads and say "PES is shit lol" then yeah, they're idiots, but the mods deal with that.

Looking over the last few pages I can only see a few little comments regarding FIFA, nothing like a full-scale "which is better" argument. But as Mart and others have already said, if there's a post that you've got a problem with, report it and they'll deal with it. The mods here are one of the reasons I still post here, because things are a lot more laid back and yet sensible at the same time. They let conversation flow, but if it starts to wreck a thread (like we are now ;))) then they step in.

EDIT: No I beg your pardon, there are one or two provocations there over the last few pages that I missed. They're not OTT but they're provoking enough, if I was a regular viewer of the thread and a fan of the game some of them would piss me off. But if you report those particular comments then the mods will deal with them.

I appreciate and respect your points Chris, and the fact you seem to be able to type at 100 miles an hour. ;0)

I respect everyones opinion, even if I dont agree with it. I have played football professionally and semi-pro for 15 years, and for me Pro Evo, regardless of its flaws, for me replicates the true physics of the game I know, love, and get paid to play. And thats the bottom line. Funnily enough I was in Vegas in May and stayed at the Encore and got chatting to Joe Cole by the pool. He is also a massive fan of PES, I know that doesnt really mean anything but he certainly shared my view on the game. Whether we are right are wrong, as footballers thats our opinion.

Rio Ferdinand does as well, he's a massive fanboy. Joke! ;)

(We're nearly back on topic now, look at us go!)

He was in one of the Xbox 360 videos, playing Street Fighter with one of the Xbox Live guys, and when he was asked if he played PES or FIFA he said "I'm a loyal Pro Evo fan, always have been". I think he mentioned a few teammates as well, can't remember, but it seems to be the footballer's game of choice.

Glad to see you have made up with Chris :D , just to add though this forum is far from a sham, we have hundreds(if not thousands) of PES players, fans and Modders on here, just because some people have a differing opinion to you does not mean they should be barred from giving it and the same goes the other way, if you find a post inappropriate or offencive use the report button...

LOL !! Touche Chris. ;0)

Just for the record, I read quite alot of your posts about Fifa 09 before I bought it, and I have never bought Fifa since the N64. I bought it then to tide me over till the first ISS was released as I didnt have a Jap N64, therefore couldnt get Perfect Striker. I still have Fifa 09 and do play it now and again, but only for the fun factor of the tricks and beautiful visuals that are simply stunning. PES will always be my game of choice until EA sort out the points I mentioned earlier.

Take care fella. ;0)

Nothing to do with PES being the official game of the England team and having a fully licensed Man Utd?

Just playing Mr Advocate.

Good thinking but he seemed genuine enough, he doesn't have specific ties to Konami or feature on the cover like Rooney does with F... erm... that other football game...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

For me its just strange that no matter in what topic i search, i will always find PES vs FIFA fights, it is really so bad to like one or another or both? Do we really need to repeat all the time the very same things?
This for me sum it all, as you say.
And please, mine was just a way to end up that fight, so lets not start another one between me and you, cause i really have no will and time to argue for such futile things.
Any attempt to attack me will just result in ingoring the attacker.

I think we all agree that we want to move on from the constant comparisons and mentioning of "the other game" vihn78, we were just letting off a bit of steam about off-topic posts that's all. That doesn't excuse your off-topic posts either by the way. ;)

When there's no news it's always like this, there's no news or rumours at the minute so what are we going to do...

If all you want is news then don't look in here, just look at WENB!

Shingo ' Seabass' Takatsuka PES6 interview 2006-10-03

How about the much talked about possibility of a 8 vs 8 mode? If it is not in PES6, will there ever be such a mode?

Well, currently, this is impossible. But, soon, I think our team is capable to make this happen.

Is it possible to play a whole league online?

No, regret to say. But we want to make this happen as soon as possible.

:-))))))))))))))))))))))

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Jeez CB I reckon we can come up with news every so often. The thing is every bit of news that pops up for the last few years have been torn into. I mean just look at the teaser, people wrote essays on how horrible PES 2010 is going to be based on nothing. Dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with criticism but a little common sense wouldn't hurt though. The funniest part was the screenshots. I came away thinking that they look pretty then some sad soul whips out paint and starts using pointers and circles and boxes to highlight all the errors and flaws. I dont recall a game getting so much flack.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Quite honestly I thought the screenshots were really good, and if the game looks like that in motion I thought PES fans would be happy (I would be). The lighting is out of this world.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

And that's a big IF. I'm not that into graphics though. It is important but not the be all and end all as long as the gameplay is good I'm a happy camper. I just want that good old PES back not this arcadey gameplay we have nowadays. If I see that "we want to make this game more playable for the whole family..." statement I'm going to lose my mind. I have this nephew that comes over to play a few games of pro evo against me sometimes and its shameful the way that he can dribble around my players with any decent player. Sad part is that I can tell how he is going to breach my defence but the skewed AI just wont allow me to take the ball off him.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

it makes me laugh cz pes/we could potentially be the best game in the world, konami doing silly things can seriously cost them!
things like not being able to choose all teams in the game (international), even silly animal heads y put them when another feature could be added like in iss3 stadium parts please please konami if you are reading listen to what we say n believe that us as customers can make sales for the game go sky high DO WHAT WE SAY AND ASK NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND WE WILL BOTH BENIFIT US HAVING A VERY GREAT GAME AND YOU HAVING THE BEST TITLE AND HIGH SALES!!!!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The problem with listening to the customers is that a lot/most of them already think PES is a really good simulation or will just buy the game no matter what just because it's called PES.

When you make massive profits by doing very little, there's not much point for Konami in spending a lot of time/money to increase their sales
i.e. "if it ain't broke don't fix it", however, PES is "broken" but they have no real motivation to fix it if they still make loads of money.

PES 08 was the highest selling PES game of all time I think, and we all know how shit that was! PES 09 followed and although it was better than 08, it was still a shit game.
IMO, the people who have bought the last two crap titles will be as much to blame for a crap PES 10 as Konami are (if that's the case, hopefully not).
