I honestly can't believe they will screw up once more. They had plenty of time to make a decent game now. They just need to fucus only on one thing; gameplay. Forget new commentaries, fancy stadia or ugly music....just focus on gameplay and bring it back to where it belongs.

konami are only alive atm because of MGS4. that helped them survive for a little bit longer but if they continue to make medicore games such has PES in this current economy, they could seriously be in trouble. EA are in trouble atm yet they have some great games.

Konami have reportedly increased their PES development team by 200 staff. The recession has obviously not affected them.
For this reason alone I expect a much better game this year. Either that or 200 new animal heads in the editor.

The extra 200 staff are call centre workers in Konami India who will be taking the complaints calls from all the fans expecting the same things that we've been expecting for the past 3 years.

pes has always been awesome, all you whiners are just new kids on teh block demanding a 100% fault free fotball game, while never have understood that pes aims to be so realistic it even gives an edge to make each match breath its own life. nitpicking on refs being stupid ingame for instance..why? every ref in the real world is nitpicked on. these are the things that make pes so fkn good. it requires skill, 100% timing, presicion. and not just "pass and play" like with fifa. go to fifa if you want the same repetitive "action" that you demand with pes. cause pes wont give it to you, you have to earn, and learn it.

I'm far from a NKOTB, I've had all Konami footy footy since IIS on snes but what I'm disappointed is that the next gen version didn't evolve from pes5 which is why there are so many 'Whiners'.
I love PES, always have and always will but when 3 consecutive releases of the game have not been as good as a game from 3 years ago then obviously there are problem and surely even you can see that.
I can assure you that I am loyal to the PES & WE series but is it has realistically become too much to have high expectations of a new release.

i didnt mention any names, i dont give a shit about your loyalness. new kid or not, too many of you sure as hell act like it. or simply too many french ppl/whiners has moved from fifa to pes over the recent years. anyways what ive gathered from every release, is that a major bunch of the crowd at least realises it sure as hell beats any other soccer game on the planet and oughta just stfu and play. every kid that screams "omg i want pes on next gen" just wants it to look good. seriously what does look bad in pes? i can only come up with a few things; interface,music, online part. but those are cosmetic features that dont screw up the gameplay at all for me.
all in all there are annoyances with every release, but it doesent make me move to fifa or stop playing pes. or stop enjoying pes 100%

I think your wrong about ppl wanting next gen just so it looks good but thats your opinion.
With the next gen hardware they would be able to massively improve AI and overall dynamics of player, ball movement and stuff like weather affecting gameplay more noticeably.
This isn't a lot to expect really is it.
I personally think that gameplay has deteriorated hugely in the nxt gen versions of PES but then again thats my opinion.
Its small things like the robotic movement of players and the fact that a shot or a pass bounces off a player 2 feet in front of him.
I'm not being an arse about it and of course every release had/has/will have its faults but you can't polish a turd, and IMO I feel this is exactly what Konami are trying to do with the next gen versions.

I agree, I made this point in another post that what I personally would like to see is PES2010 reverting to the PES5 engine and improving from there..it'll never happen though.

Is that number still accurate anymore with the massive global job cuts we've been experiencing? I'd be surprised if that team has even 50 staff at this point, considering what konami's ultimate goal for this year will be (HINT: $$$). And of course you're getting a better game this year, that's what every passing year is for, it's just whether or not we're going to see the massive overhaul we've supposedly been promised for the past 2+ years. I disagree with the statement that konami hasn't been affected by the recession; in fact, I think they'll be cutting costs very soon.

I mean, have these people ever actually kicked a facking ball before ? I seriously wonder. Maybe it's the fat kids from school that never got picked for a game ? I dont know ???
What I do know is that PES 2009 is far better in pretty much every way than any PES or WE yet. It's realism, physics, and sheer unpredictability is as close to the real thing as you could hope to get in my opinion.
I know my football inside out, I've played at a high level since I was 9 years old, 26 years ago. I'm also the fussiest person going when it comes to video games and what I play. All I play is Football games, that pretty much all I have ever played since I was a kid. From the very first football game ever, World Cup on the ZX81. Match Day on the Spectrum, Player Manger and Kick off on the Amiga, and pretty much every console football game on every console. I like to think I have served my time in this genre over the years.
As far as I'm concerned, if you cant appreciate the genius in PES 2009 then I'm sorry but there isnt a debate in my book. Yes it has its minor flaws, but overall it's real football, if you cant see and appreciate that, then you dont deserve to play it.
End of story.

PES2009 is not genius. If you think this you have very low expectations. It has major flaws - it's too stiff and on rails, it has less animations than PES from about 4 years ago, goalkeepers are awful, graphics and sound are poor. I could go on. To say that people are basically idiots that don't understand football because they find PES2009 to be a poor football game, and complain about it, is a ridiculously condescending standpoint.
Look, I get the argument that it's all about gameplay, and I agree it is, but when you buy a next-gen console you expect games to take full advantage of the hardware. Most games push the console but PES2009 clearly doesn't. I'm not just talking about graphics, but ball physics and animations. Fifa09 has many flaws but it delivers a smooth, open, flowing game of football with fantastic ball physics, and stunning animations, graphics and sound.
I think people are quite within their rights to complain about PES. It's not good enough as it is. I'm not a PES-basher, I'm optimistic that this year we will get a proper 'next-gen' PES. But you have to admit when something is not good enough and that's why me and all my PES-loving friends have been playing Fifa for the last two years.
PES reached it's pinnacle on the PS2 and has been going downhill ever since.
