PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I thought that trisomy was some sort of a next generation threesome....

But seriously, I don't get why this guy hasn't been banned. He's been banned EVERYWHERE and has come on Evo-web trying to get a rise out of people.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

tbh it happens every year, i wouldnt be surprised if it isnt the same guy from last year. I can remember ieatfanboys or something like that.

They are the guys fed up of the series and more fed up of people defending konami, so they take it upon themselves to wind up the pes diehards and anyone else along the way.

Its funny cause they do have a point, its the same every year. thomasgoal comes with his inside information and loves nothing more than to tell the forum he has the information, but cant tell anyone (dont see the point personally) then in the last few years wenb have come and tried to put a more centralized point of inormation, but again come a cropper because of the amount of 'rumours' and poor communication from konami.

Its not right to single people out they are all fans and are just trying to bring us news they can.

I especially feel sorry for the wenb lads, they are in a really hard position: do they release rumours on the site? and run the risk of them being true and therefore out of the loop of information? or dispel the rumours as just rumours and look silly?

I dont agree with the abuse certain members get around here, but in Thomasgoals situation, he is asking for it when he lets everyone know that he has the information but wont (or cant) say anything - just pointless and is bound to antagonise people on here...

Anyway, here is to another year of pes rumours 'leaked' information from 'contacts' - should be exciting. The only thing i can say is that Konami are setting things up nicely - for either a wonderful evolution of the series, or a catastrophic fail.

Yeh, but I don't mind them this year...coz the FIFA side of it is on the same set-up

They should expect some abuse coz they plaster their faces everywhere so I'm sure they're aware of it, but the guy above with Adam's pic has taken it too far.

I don't know about you, but if i don't like something I avoid it

Tis bizzare with the wenb/fifablog setup, but the difference is simply this: EA are the masters of publicity, Konami er.... arent :P

In fact I think my old avatar was splendid & quite funny but this new one is wonderful too! Got to love my hero Dr Dalrymple.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Charlie, Apparently Seabass is still in charge but they have probably kept him quiet because he's not done a good job in PR ;)

About WENB/ThomasGOAL/Messengers etc, I don't see them doing any wrong tbh and I can't blame them for anything. To me they come across as PES optimists who have this urge of wanting the fans to know of any news/rumors, specially rumors as most of them are things we have been asking for ages and if they were to be true then we'd all be over the moon. If I were in their shoes I'd probably do the same, maybe even worse. Its not their fault they can't reveal it sometimes because of NDAs. I'm pretty sure if there weren't any NDAs then they'd love spilling everything out. So I take it this way: "I'd love telling you everything but I really can't because of NDAs so all I can say is there are positive news and hopefully you will know when the time is right :)".

Lets all not forget its still a game. Not really worth flaming each other for.

EDIT: Theodore, as long as it has nothing to do with flaming fellow forums/members. Thank you. Now lets get back to PES ;)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yes but the amount of HYPE around one PR statement is amazing, after all as badgerman pointed out the PR is not going to say "same old crap this year hope you mugs still buy it". - And my post was an attempt to bring a little sanity to the proceedings with regards to Konami's PR machine. In what I thought was quite a funny way: i.e.

"Through my extensive contacts in the upper echelons of Konami (I once drank saki with good old General Nihou, Seabass and a coco-shutner of a guy who picks up Seabass's laundry)..."

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yes but the amount of HYPE around one PR statement is amazing

This happens year in year out. It due to us loving what PES used to be knowing its great potential if Konami/Seabass listened to us from the start. But it stagnated and that led to frustration. With every positive rumor you'll have to forgive so many frustrated fans hungry for the game we always wanted it to be.

after all as badgerman pointed out the PR is not going to say "same old crap this year hope you mugs still buy it".

PR is PR no matter what. They call it Public relations but I like to call it Pure Rubbish. Big reason why I left my previous PR position.. Its their job to make "shit" look like "gold".

Good thing is, we have the pics, vids and demos to judge for ourselves.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Lami quite so - and as in life so it goes for video games - if improvement is possible, and has to start somewhere, then equally decline is possible, and has to start somewhere. Many people, seemingly, do not given any thought to the second possiblity.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The reason for the hype is the timing of the press release. Konami don't normally release any official info until June or later.

I see the early info as confidence from Konami. Let's not hammer them for the sake of it and have some optimism that they will get back to form this year.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hadn't read your little debate and don't intend to, I was just pointing out that absolutely nobody apart from you two cares or wants to read shit like that in here...

I'm not sure what to expect from PES 2010 - there's been no mention this year of an "overhaul" or any real additions to the controls which would make the game a lot more realistic such as;

Manual controls for passing/crossing/shooting (even if they were optional, it would be a good start).
360 degree dribbling/running, even 16 or 32 direction (without having to sprint) would be a major improvement.
A better free kick system - although I agree with Badgerman about PES5/6 free kicks being skill-based, I think a system where power and height are completely independent from each other would be much better. Trance_Allstar on here last year explained this perfectly.

Without a complete overhaul, I really doubt that their supposed "most realistic football simulation" will materialise, as PES has never been about being a great simulation of football - I think it replicates the "highlights" of a real match for 90% of the time, whereas in real football they are probably only about 10% of the match if that makes sense.

They've said every aspect is getting improved and there will be big gameplay changes, but last year almost the exact same was said and we didn't get either, so i'll take that with a pinch of salt. If they had anything really "major" lined up then I think they would announce it.

The "Teamvision 2.0" thing and the stuff about players covering spaces etc. seem like the main thing they point out about the gameplay, but to me they are just things that should have been in the last two games which they failed at.

It's impossible to know what a game will be like from these early press releases though (which contain a lot of bullshit more often than not), we'll have to wait a few weeks/months to get any proper information.

Sorry guys.

I reacted to an offensive post, but should of done it by PM.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

All that said and done,i hope konami do really well this edition, fifa will get better i hope, and jaygrim will always be a bastard..:SMUG:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

i cant for the life in me really remember teamvision 1? :S

Is there a place with a archive of press releases from konami re: past pes games?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Teamvision... The last thing i wanted to read is that word. And now we have version 2.0

The only fact so far that makes me optimistic is that KONAMI is in the corner in market share...its either live or die situation for them so they have to stand up to this. Its a very good sign that people have spoken with their wallets....and KONAMI knows that with just the PC market they wont go far....because its the only platform that they have a complete dominance unless EA makes a NG FIFA10 for the PC.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I never really noticed Teamvision. However I think I play quite a varied style of play, so perhaps it was never really designed for me.

I don't mean to drag the freekick thing even further but for me, football games are nowhere near a proper representation of an actual game. They lack the subtle nuances that makes the game what it is. So when they got the freekicks perfect in PES6, then I felt that it was one of the few areas where it rewarded people who had a good footballing brain and knew what they were doing.

Scoring a believable freekick against the CPU is a much better feeling than scoring half a dozen cutbacks against some knob online. I reckon I play these games to quench my footballing thirst more than anything else.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Absolutely loved it whenever I scored a powerful and low freekick from under the wall. It rarely happens but when it does its mental.

I like that post, it carries a very interesting theory in that we are blind to decline but see improvement as a given. i think it is particularly relevant to PES and is one of the reasons why we see anouncements as huge strides forward but we may well have missed the start of the decline when the new hardware hit the shelves.

Every Dog has his day, PES had it for a generation of consoles, now maybe, it's time for another game to take over?

You know i don't mind that theory, I friggin' adore FIFA 09. But it seems to me that Konami have struggled during nextgen, and they've not even hit the basic standards they did so in the PS2 days.

This year could be the year, but it most likely won't. Even if it was I'm sure FIFA will raise the bar further. But it won't stop me keeping an eye on all things PES, as in the end of the day I love football games.

writing off PES 2010 is a stupid as a PES fan righting off FIFA 08 before it came out, mainly because we haven't seen anything on it.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Sorry Guys,

Does any of you knows who's Mr Hatsumi ?
Does any of you if he already work on a Soccer Games ?

It sound a little bit strange to hear that kind of News on Pes not directly by Seabass...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

This is NOT my work - but it's a massively funny and useful guide to understanding Konami/Conami PR speak

Enjoy
------

Through my extensive contacts in the upper echelons of Konami (I once drank saki with good old General Nihou, Seabass and a coco-shutner of a guy who picks up Seabass's laundry). I managed to obtain a copy of the PES development team's orginal vision statement for PES2010. The vision statement was heavily edited by Konami's public relations department before being officially released to the press.

Thought it might be interesting to compare and contrast the press release with the original vision statement.

DECODED MEANING
We're tweaking a few bits and pieces here and there. Mostly stuff nobody was asking to be tweaked, much to the game's detriment. Minor gameplay additions should help to make PES feel less like an actual game of football than ever before.

PES Productions, Konami’s Tokyo-based development team, has collated feedback on the series’ strengths and weaknesses via fan forums, both ardent and casual PES players and press comment, and has incorporated a wide range of requests in the new game. The result will be the most challenging, realistic and satisfying PES to date.

DECODED MEANING
By releasing the game across as many formats as possible, including the BBC Micro and Atari ST, Konami will be stretching our limited resources so thinly that we won't have a hope in hell of making a decent game. We collated a bunch of suggestions from fan forums and stuff, and our staff had a great time making silly hats out of the print-outs at our last Christmas party. PES will be less challenging than ever before, but hey, five year old kids will be able to go online and score goals with Samuel Eto'o within five minutes of purchasing the game.

DECODED MEANING
We saw a bunch of fan requests on the internet, but it really sets our teeth on edge to sit there and go through them ‘em all. Jeez, the people who buy our games sure do whine a lot don't they? Apart from which, Seabass goes all silent and moody whenever any negative feedback regarding PES finds its way back to him. It took us weeks to coax the guy out of the stationary cupboard the last time around and we really don’t want to go through all that rigoramole again.

DECODED MEANING
The XBox 360 has been out for four years now, and the Playstation 3 for three years, but we still can't get our heads around the goddamn hardware. So we developed the game on the Playstation 2 and we'll pay some flunkies to do the next gen conversions a coupla’ weeks before release. The graphics will be soooo last gen, but hey, retro gaming is really cool right now!

We sprang for a couple of temps so Seabass would have some flunkies around to berate and humiliate when he's not feeling so good about himself.

In addition to key out-field elements, goalkeepers are more versatile and with abilities matching those of modern shot-stoppers. The game's referees have also been reworked, with smarter AI elements allowing them to make more balanced calls during matches.

DECODED MEANING
Oh dear. Look, we're sorry and everything, but PES is shaping up to be a real stinker this year. Again. Can somebody think up some marketing type shizzle for the press release? It needs to be vague and meaningless yet sound like we've taken a totally fresh approach this time around.

Seabass spent an inordinate amount of time trying to perfect Steven Gerrard's short bulges this year, and we really didn't have any time left to fix anything else.

In terms of attacking, players can also now move several players at once, sending them into different areas, opening up more goal-scoring possibilities than ever before. Kagemasa Kozuki-san gave us an even smaller licensing budget to work with this year than usual. Kind, wise, generous Kagemasa Kozuki-san! So we've gone all out and managed to obtain the license for the least popular football competition in the world. Europa League! Unfortunately, license for Uzbekistan Premier League too expensive.

:BSCARF: Funny stuff there. Seriously, Ive said it a hundred times and Ill say it again: Konami should build a brand new development team (bring in talented people, strong leaders, people with fresh ideas, etc.) and start from scratch. Take 2 years off and come out with a knock out game that will trump Fifa. Seabass' enthusiasm and energy is directly mirrored in the games he heads. Looks to me like he's not even passionate with PES anymore and he always looks bored and lame. Sometimes change is good.

BECOME A LEGEND PES2009

HEY GUYS!!! Pro evo 2009 having the new 'become a legend' mode is awesome for the first time its being done for pro evo, i played fifa09 'be a pro' and it was so cheesy, u can press request pass button on fifa and they will try and do it no matter where u are...pro evo more intelligent AI wouldnt even think about a dodgy pass...Has Anyone heard about the new PES and become a legend mode?

Fifa has got one hold of pro evo, thats there great online features such as 10 vs 10, online leagues etc..pro evo is very poor online and i really even try it cos i end up disapointed with it.

I really hope that all the NT's from the Americas are licensed for PES2010...especially the U.S.A. , Mexico, and Canada. It's always puzzled me that these countries have never been licensed but Ghana and the Ivory Coast have. It's just that the PES games obviously sell more in North America than in Africa. I don't mean to sound ignorant or anything...I'm just telling it like it is. :JAY:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

it would be nice for the next PES is for the camera/angles could be altered anyway u wanted like some of the other PES (cant remember witch 2,4,8 for a guess)....More Stadiums with them intimadating atmospheres..and referees making mistakes eg offside, fouls.
