Update: Online play does work - but lag is pretty bad - just like as everyone mentioned.

I am in FL - the frame rate issue is in replays - got to try it out more.

Re: PES2008 USA PS3 Online Network Does Work

That's good to know im in Georgia and i'll prolly get my game 2morrow or friday but i won't go online until they fix the lag, hit me up and we can play when it's fixed

Re: PES2008 USA PS3 Online Network Does Work

Sounds good but get ready to be dissapointed with the game - there are slow downs - installing on the hard drive kind of made it worst for me - so i play straight from the cd - which is good - my first game no slow down- but second one there was. Basically, the game graphically is like the 360 version that came out in 2007

Re: PES2008 USA PS3 Online Network Does Work

johnathan is that you man! cant even say hi no more after u picked up your game last time...

? are you sure you got the ryte person? but i sure got my game today! very happy! no lag on gameplay, only sometimes on replay, i play on HDTV

I've asked this on the Winning Eleven board but could anyone test the game out on an NTSC SDTV?

I've already heard that it won't work but could anyone confirm it?

it WILL NOT work on an NTSC tv because there is no 50/60hz switcher in the game, to my knowledge. NTSC(US)=60hz, PAL(EUR)=50hz

If you have a TV card in your computer, you could probably run it that way, since most computer TV tuners let you toggle between NTSC and PAL (which the tuner card "upscales" to whatever your monitor refresh rate using video overlay.

it will work on sdtvs over here as i have always played the pal version of pro-evo on my US ps2 on a US NTSC TV. This year i have the ps3 version and it works on a SDTV and on my LCD tv

i have the ps2 version and it only works if you use the PAL switcher at the beginning (which you can't see at all since it boots up in PAL).

i did not see any type of pal/ntsc switcher on ps3 copy, so i don't know how it works on your NTSC SDTV. does the PS3 convert PAL/NTSC? i don't see anywhere it mentions that.

as far as your LCD, that's not really a SDTV. what is your connection from your ps3 to your NTSC LCD SDTV? what resolution are you outputting?

i think you're mistaken.

well on my HD LCD tv, i use the HDMI,
on the old tv i used to see if i could get the horrid frame rate issue everyone speaks of (But i dont get on my HD lCD sharp) i connected it through the standard connector and it worked ok (and no frame rate problem either).

So if i am being "mistaken" as you so put it, i'm either going blind or my wife is slowly poisoning me with some mind expanding drugs that are causing me to see things.

but i add that foss clearly knows more than my stupid self (i do wonder why i got my PhD sometimes), but thankfully the one thing i learnt at University in england is the ability to read. That allowed me to read WENB blog where several people have played Pro-evo 2008 on a US PS3 on a SDTV ......so i guess they are all mistaken.

I personally haven't tried running any PAL PS3 games on an NTSC SDTV. So you're running your PS3 to output at what resolution? 480i? 576i? 480p? 720p?

Also SDTVs do not come with HDMI inputs...

Maybe the PS3 converts PAL/NTSC internally. If it works, great! Just trying to provide information, but since I haven't tried myself, I'm just going on past experience.

I still think people are not going to be able to view PAL PS3 on their US NTSC PS3 if they're connected to an old 480i TV set.

like i said read the blog from october at WENB and you will see quiet a few people that have connect the ps3 and run pal games on Older SDTV. The majority of tv's have always been able to play both (as its cheaper to mass produce sets that can) - it is just the units (such as VCRs) that are un-compatible. LIke i said i've tried it, plenty of others have - it was infact the forums on sonys website that first alerted me to the fact that you could.

LIke you i was trying to provide infomation - i'm just not trying to accuse others of lying...oppps sorry "being mistaken"

Ok now I'm just confused as hell.

Edit - BUT NOW I'M NOT!...okay just a little still.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/pla...read.id=1347414&view=by_date_ascending&page=9

So it does work on SDTV's for the people in this forum, but now I'm still confused because why do some people say it works while others say it doesn't.

iceobar is there any way you could take a pic of your game playing on the NTSC SDTV...

I'm sorry if I'm asking too much, I just don't want to shell out the cash and have it not work.

Hmmm, are you guys confused? There's no way it should be working on an NTSC TV in SD as it is PAL without the ability to switch 50/60hz in the software. It does work fine in HD, though.

just try reading the links mate, i think too many people having it working on an SDTV for us to be "confused". Plus the reasons why it works is explained....

My bad then - now I'm "confused" about the whole PAL/NTSC thing as I haven't seen any explanation how exactly it would work without the a 50/60hz switcher in software. Does PES autoconvert somehow?

yeah i found that one but it doesnt seem to work.. this is really killing me ..

after copying it to the ps3 and loading it from the game it tells me its corrupted data.. ive tried all sorts of option files to no avail.

pretty stupid not having the option files work on the american version ..
