PES 2021 Private Server / Online Emulator/ Open Alpha Test Server /

Hi, I've got a problem. When I tried to start a match in a lobby it kicked me out of it (Unable to connect). The lobby is still live and I can't join it again. Now, I can't connect to server, despite me reinstalling bat file. It shows Server Ping: Unavailable

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Game version: verify game files must be the latest data/dlc and exe.

Well firstly, a massive congratulations from me and many others here for having the bravery and intelligence to attempt such a huge project. I have mates deploying AI agents and custom harnesses to rapidly reverse-engineer dead RTS servers from scratch and a sibling researching these at a FAANG company. This PES 2021 project is just another moment with these tools that is blowing my mind. We're perhaps seeing this with PES 2013 at the moment on the forum too (https://evoweb.uk/threads/pes-2013-private-server.106472/) and a group has announced the same thing with a couple of FIFAs this week (https://x.com/wonderfulpie_?t=c3ncZFdwWpUEId8Eh3THcA - FIFA 14, 13, and 17 have had their online services restored like PES 2021).

The LLM and agent tools are going to lead to a golden age now for the modding communities of old games. And thank god, because AAA game studios and new games are terrible right now. It is fantastic timing. It used to take someone like Juce and Reddwarf months of grueling, manual coding and now a big project can be spun up by a team of AI agents and one really smart guy directing them to do the work. You literally tell them "Make this server for me, here are some requirements I want" and iteratively work like that if you have the money for API tokens and are smart enough to work through the problems with them. The custom harness gives the AI agent access to the terminal. Instead of the Wireshark GUI, an agent runs tshark, can launch the game, look at the network traffic through the command line and just work away on its own like a software engineer. Anyone here if they are intelligent and have enough money can pick another game like PES 2012 and attempt to get in on the action.

Looking at the FIFA Discord although I haven't joined, they seem to already have 50,000 members. PESBul could become just as massive. I'd really like to see him keep the source code private and everyone using one server, but to share his AI agents and custom harness and maybe even a recording of how he goes about his workflow with them, what were the limitations and main problems he faced. While all the details are fresh in his mind. I think many employers and companies would try to employ him if theres content like that put on youtube. It would also make it so much easier for others to tackle the other PES games, although there are plenty of great YouTube tutorials available already for those interested.

Anyone hating on AI, I think now needs to open their eyes with this amazing PESBul project and especially his posts showing the agents huge, comprehensive reports and outputs sometimes only 1 day apart which no human could do in that time. We need to start learning and sharing more information about agents and harnesses as a community , getting those with the intelligence and know how with agents together with those who have the money for tokens and would like to fund development on their favorite pes game. If others work on the older servers using agents, we could have a situation where all the classic PES games have active online communities again. This is something that would have seemed impossible a few years ago and who knows what is possible in the future.

Amazing work team. Is this for purely the vanilla PES21 game without mods etc?
PESBUL — "Unable to connect" at the loading screen

After both players press OK, the match runs directly between the two PCs. Our server only handles the lobby, and there is no relay — so it either connects directly or it fails.

Do this — it's the one thing we can see is set wrong

Open Settings.exe in your PES 2021 folder (next to PES2021.exe) → Online tab.

  1. Under UDP Port, uncheck "Auto"
  2. Leave the values at 5739 and 5740
  3. OK
With "Auto" on, the game picks a different port every time, so port forwarding can never work.

Then open those two ports

Either turn on UPnP on your router, or forward UDP 5739 and UDP 5740 to your PC. Also allow PES2021.exe through Windows Firewall on both Private and Public.

If it still doesn't work,
Tell us if any of these apply to you:

Mobile internet (4G/5G) or a phone hotspot — these use CGNAT and direct connections usually can't work at all. Some ISPs will give you a real public IP for free if you ask them.,
A VPN is running — turn it off while playing.,
Work, school, hotel or public wifi — these normally block direct connections.

And please tell us the exact date, time and timezone of your next attempt.

We've just added logging for exactly this failure. With a precise time we can find your session and see where it stops — instead of guessing.

First of all big thanks from alot of pes fans . The achievement you made is indescribable!
Congratulations on the current success and hopefully it'll get better and better!
As I understand so far the project only works with steam version pes 2021 right ? The problem is that the steam versions are so limited or hard to find . At least for me
Id love to hear from you about your future plans of applying this project on other versions of the game if possible.. thanks again !

godd !

You can go online with sider installed, but the match does not start. I think if you use the same sider and the same roaster, it might be possible to do it online

Are there plans for publishing the work done as free and open source software? This would be a shame if kept closed source, instead of helping and being helped by the community to actually propel the game forward. It would also allow self-hosting and LAN play.

I can already imagine Master League running on a website, while the game simply launches the match, records the result, and sends it back to the site. Am I being too optimistic?

I just tried to play a match. It started, but the connection dropped almost immediately, probably because of high latency. I think it would work almost perfectly over a local network.

Use original version of the game. From what I can see, you're using a patch. Server works only on unedited game with latest patch and exe.

no work for me

I think OP already stated that only works for steam clean version, if you go out there trying way too many different scenarios it will very hard for them to track all, try also to provide some more details of your test, exe version, data pack version, if you're actually using a patch or no, sider, everything that could help them understand that could be the issue, "no work for me" is really non informative

Ah, okay, I hadn't noticed.

I use VirtuaRED; I'm not really up for installing the original files just to play it, but it's a great mod nonetheless—kudos to the creators.

Sorry if I sound too harsh! it was not only for you, but also for future comments lets keep in mind its only the first steps of the server implementation, I'm sure they'll work eventually on providing support to all of them (or at least most of them)

No problem

I don't use VirtuaRED Patch, so I'm not completely sure about this. However, if your PES 2021 download folder doesn't contain any additional CPK files besides the game's default DLCs, you could try playing online by launching the game through the Play button on Steam instead of starting it with sider.exe.As far as I remember, most VirtuaRED Patch mods are loaded through Sider. Before playing online, make sure to back up your VirtuaRED EDIT file and use a clean default EDIT file for the game. I'm currently using one of Grand's modules that lets Sider load a separate save folder when launching the game through sider.exe, so I don't need to reinstall the game or switch save files whenever I want to play online.

Okay, thanks, I get it, but I can't be bothered to reset everything and make a copy of VirtuaRED to switch between them.
