PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Adam has already said that they want a free game and too many fouls would contradict this ..i expect no change..im sure there's a review of E3 saying If you were disappointed with 2017 fouls you probably will be this year ..the lack of fouls in intentional

what does free game mean? they want? they want real football like on tv? or not?
i'm not asking you really, just making a point, that is crap to say "free game"... the game will be free (meaning no cost or free to play) if Konami keeps making a game that's not football.... no fouls or defending. Bla.:TD:

It's strange that only thing that seems to be the same as the last year is the slide tackle mechanic. I feel 0 control on it.
The rest its awesome.

Stop making guesses FFS!
It's like you're playing a parallel game prior to PES release which is: The Conjectures Game.

They never said they want "a free game". What Adam AND the people who played it have been saying is that the game feels a lot more free in terms of movement and players interaction with the ball than previous versions.

If they want to balance the game with fouls, why not create a referee strict level option on game menu. The solution is very easy.
Indeed that would be the best solution.

But in this regard, we know Konami. It takes a lot of time for them to implement the easy stuff. Remember from PES 2008 until PES 2014 we didn't have the option to customize camera Zoom/Height/Angle. We also didn't have the option to set gameplay speed.

So I think this is where communities like this must pressure from the day PES 2018 is released, we need to make clear the priorities for us for PES 2019.

For example, mine would be:

-Adjustable Referee Strictness (from "VERY HARSH" to "PLAY ON, PLAY ON")
-Sliders to Customize Gameplay aspects
-More Time Of Day and Weather Conditions (Afternoon and Evening, Windy and Snowy are mandatory).
-Etc

i just think the more (if this is the case) Konami strays away from real football (real football has fouls, defense and is hard to score unless your Messi and Ronaldo), the less the sales will become as time goes bye. I hate to think FIFA is more realistic in fouls and defensive position.

i agree the decline started at PES 6 I play PES 5 and see a better game.

In 2017 manual shooting is very good on player camera, try it. Stats are noticeable.

Heh heh i'm sure we had this conversation a few months ago. My main concern is with the CPU shooting either hit the target or just miss. Human shooting can be toned down too though. Playing on @curdstar's camera settings on manual does make it more realistic too as you have a low level seat in the stadium.
Sorry this post is completely :OT:

Its little fouls in the middle of the park that are missing, this would give the game the classic midfield battle that sometimes isn't there.

To be fair to Adam, he's just replied to someone on twitter detailing the issue with fouls, and that they are working on it.

The Ship of Fouls has sailed, and it won't be coming back. As ever it's fascinating to see Konami issued a free pass for no-fouls, year after year. "No fouls please, we're flowing..."

I like to imagine travelling in a time machine back to 2006 or so, and pitching up at the average Hardcore PES fan's pad, and telling him that in about 10 years from now, Konami will remove fouls from PES in the name of FIFA-style flow and in pursuit of the online multiplayer market – just to see the reaction.

A mini-explosion would be the reaction, of course, followed by a confident assertion that up in this nightmarish, dystopian future of no fouls, the Hardcore PES fanbase will never stand for it!

"Er..."
i read everybody's post here, and love this community of footballers.....:D

i have to suggest this post to be laminated framed and hung on Konami's presidents wall.

For years I have been asking for this to be brought back. This feature created a lot of fouls and balanced the game for me.

It's in PES 2017, i use that often. Standing Tackle > 2 x upload_2017-6-28_0-12-57.gif
But the tackle is a bit less "stretched" as it's in PES 2013, yes.

With that standing tackle more streched/agressive... And if the CPU does this more often it could be the best way to gives more fouls in game, because there's more space so less contact.

But it's up to you too to use it as it should be used: often. And not occasionnally.
I personnally defend with agressivity and more manually (i go without pressing on the player and makes 2x X tackles directly) so my game flow looks a bit less end-to-end

It's unbelievable but CPU can't shoot for four years now :BRMM:

This is really sad, We're still having the same arguments about essential stuff like fouls, shot variety, end to end games and positioning problems. There has been no progress at all as most of these features have been in and out of the game for no reason!!

How can a game have great features in 2013 and get stripped down to the bare minimum in 2018 to the extent that we would applaud them for bringing back stuff that shouldn't have been removed at the first place.

What about improvements in master league, be a pro, new features, edit mode, customization.
Where's the community?

All the reviewers are blatantly reading from a script as they are glossing over OBVIOUS broken mechanics just like every year.

CPU barely attacks you all game, and if you switch to manual controls stats are nullified and every player can do everything!

We are making early judgements based on the past 6 or 7 years of failure from Konami, And also because Konami nailed some of this stuff 20 years ago on inferior machines.

I would like to see more options tho, I love pressing hard and play aggressive. They need to add more options for shoving, pulling and pushing hard to tackle and stop players. It needs to be far stretched. That's just football. If they want fouls and a balanced game that's what they need to think about. Also if they do, it will reduce AI cheating and scripting.

yeah, please lets not take it to far with these predictions. the game isn't even out yet.FIFA supporters support their game even if it just looks like a yearly kits update, why are we the exact opposite? and we wonder why they are trying to get the FIFA fans to jump ship? maybe because they are less demanding and loyal.
lets just chill and wait for the demo atleast.
The videos look promising for me, if they don't for you then yeah just say so, but all these unfounded predictions are getting a bit depressing.
i also played Pes3 and Pes5 lately. Still great gameplay but on a 55" 4k tv the graphics aren't really impressive.
and nowadays with the tv's and the resolution we get, this is a must.
Give me an HD 4K version and i guess the problem is solved

Since last year i have been reading people who complain about lack of fouls made by the IA, but for me it is a different story, Always It made me more than 8, 9,10 fouls for matches. Maybe it is my playstyle (?). I dont know.

In fact, if i want to won a free kick I can provoce the foul very easy.

The perception that people are getting down in the dumps is the problem. We're in this threshold in which you can have hope, but you can't explain why you have hope, or what you doubt. If you do, then you're automatically considered over critical and disliking the game before even playing it. It's a Catch-22.

This is PES. We are PES fans, we are built this way. We are driven by our nostalgia of what KONAMI gave to us. It's not by our own doing. It's because of our Loyalty that makes us the toughest critics to please. We've been burned too many times, yet we keep showing up. We keep being loyal, and we keep hoping to be heard. I believe PES 2018 is a good indication that it has been accomplished, but you can't thank the hardcore fans while also questioning their feedback at the same time.

So only hardcore fans accomplished that PES 2018 got feedback heard?

Being driven by nostalgia isn't always good, because it can blind ourselves. Also, people don't question hardcore fan's feedback, but the way that feedback is being shown to KONAMI. It is understandable that we are burned, but time has prove that if we feedback while being rude, nothing can be accomplished.

this could be something we can discuss, after me playing a game of PES 3.

true ball physics : in accordance with fact or reality. synonyms: correct, accurate, right.

i see this not being the case in 2017 and 18 from what iv'e seen.
i would be amazed if 2018 has true ball physics, and not scripted or fake to go were AI wants to keep games close.
never not once have i a seen scripted ball in older PES 3,4,5,6 and question if it should have went out of play or not.
i watched that video on PES 3 mat10 did and his words if i remember "you just never know what's going to happen with the ball.... crazy things can happen" maybe not word for word, but still the point.
I think the foul system and the ball physics are all fake or scripted to keep games close in today's PES.

Agree or not? Is it my madness? maybe delusional?

explain this to me then, if the PES fans are so loyal, why have the PES sales dropped so immensely ? so much even that KONAMI is looking for FIFA fans to bail them out.
FIFA hasn't made that big of improvements to justify their sales, and still.........

I didn't say "only" hardcore fans. It's the hardcore fans that stuck with all the PES 2008's of the world. We kept it going, we kept buying, we kept investing time. This community of Evo Web alone is probably responsible for 80% of the purchases of the PC version. That's hardcore.

Frankly, we're blind as it is. Blindly loyal. That's a fact. We will keep coming back. It's moments like PES 2018 that solidify that even more. They've done a great job at it. They've taken members of the community that are hardcore and given them a platform/voice to represent us. Members like B-Man who won't ever sell out and won't ever just say what they want to hear, that's what is needed.

FIFA doesn't have to do a thing. Just the same way Madden doesn't have to do a thing. It's in the name. They created FUT which was the most brilliant sports gaming idea next to Madden's online-franchise.

I can't speak to why PES loses or gains sales. I don't see that data, or the qualifying reasons, and neither can it be assumed that the hardcore fan's absence is responsible for it.

At the end of the day we should be critical, we should analyze and we should keep feedback coming of what we see. We've been doing it for years now, and it hasn't hurt a soul. It keeps conversations going and it keeps the community growing. We educate ourselves when we don't play, so that when we do play, we raise our standards. That's growth.

FIFA doesn't do a thing and yet they get praised for it, KONAMI started listening to the fans more and gets crucified. no wonder they wanna go the FIFA route.
if you mean literally "hurt a soul" then i guess not but it hurt the gameplay pretty much. the old games like you said are a testament that they had it figured out before they started listening to all the critics.
i just wished they'd go back to doing things the old way, their way, instead of trying to please everyone (which is impossible)and loosing their fan base.
before all this crap started.
they should really do it FIFA STYLE.
goodness knows, we really deserve that, cause if effort is being treated this way...............

can you blame Adam for reacting the way he often does? don't think so...
loyal fans...............not much seem to be left
