PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Hey y´all.

Haven´t been posting here for months.
Actually I promised myself trying to stay calm on any news for the next releases.

But seeing that trailer and reading a few news, it´s really hard not to get hyped a little bit.
Also because I really do enjoy PES 2017 still.
Have to ignore the niggles but since I play it like 2 or 3 times a week and not that frequent enough, it´s easy to do so.

Have to go full manual though and never wanna go back.

Still....I´m sceptic on anything they announce until I see it, like the PC version being on par with PS4 this year.

Let´s see ;)

Much more teams to differentiate, while database team developers is always the same number. Do you know how many people worked on Pes 2017 database?

Six developers. Just six. Look at the Pes 2017 credits.

The EU KONAMI just gives the Japanese team characteristics numbers for individual players, but team tactics and everything else is in Tokio team hands. This is why, expect the most important teams, tactics are completely similar in every other team and they all tend to play the same.

They really need to increase their development team numbers in Japan, we can only hope they did something for Pes 2018.

yeah, if Konami wants world money, they need to hire a bigger staff to complete it. Don't make it just look like we are getting a full world football game.

If not then just manage one league. Like champions league with a 100% complete job.

I'd still pay 60$ for it. Complete game like NBA 2K. All faces, stadiums, tactics ect. ect.

Lami, care to elaborate? I know Konami "employs" the community for editing and that kind of stuff but never heard from someone who has actually done this. I'm guessing you did?
Yea I did. There's someone else here employed now as well, maybe gabe.
Please explain yourself, Lami.
I honestly didn't want to go into details, but I'll say they're unprofessional. Throw a ton of work at you for little time and little money and they want your work to be of an experienced super professional. Even done for free wasn't worth it. With the little time it wasn't even possible. You can even tell from the rushed job where you'd see many copy-paste stats for a ton of "unknown" players. Keepers or defenders with a specific 80 stat across. I refused to do any rush job and quit. I wanted to really be as professional as possible and apply all real life stats from watching games and applying them in game. With the little time this was impossible. I'd have needed more months to do this properly for the game I thought I cared for. Also have the community play with precise stats. I'm a perfectionist and just couldn't accept that half-assed bs. I wanted to finally give the game my best but that just wasn't possible.

That was 2 years ago though and maybe they've changed. Well I hope. Someone else currently working with them could chime in. But I don't have a very good impression of them since.

Thanks Lami.
This does not really surprise me considering the fact that their games seem very unpolished and not being the final product.
I have the distinct impression that they are not tested enough in different game modes.
But one can Always hope that the 2018 version might be better in that regard.

Anytime.

I honestly hope so. I care for this game a lot as I've been through all its ups and downs since its inception on the PS1 (or even before with SNES if you count ISS). It saddens me every year seeing the potential that could make it the best ever if only it was 100% polished (or anywhere near 100%).

And this and this only, is why EA has taken the football crowd from Konami 40:1 in sales last year (EA spends lots of money on FIFA) hopefully Konami learns this lesson. You need to spend lots of money to make lots of money Konami!

Very true. On the flip side it's amazing that the game is as good as it is gameplay wise with the limited effort (apparently) they put in.

40:1 are just the UK sales, Global Fifa beat PES maybe 6:1 #justsayn

That was the same thought that crossed my mind, cause its still ahead in the dept. that really matters. gameplay.

Last time Konami did a motion capture for animations was in PES 2010. So I'm guessing the animations would be similar to this:

Oh God! Does that mean the players will be unresponsive as PES 10? I hope they don't screw the gameplay!

It could be that they add these animations to the current ones so that the responsiveness doesn't get affected as much. I liked PES 2010, the animations for off the ball, running and walking were the best in certain aspects, but lacked variations in so many areas. Although I think it had to do with the game engine, it's not as powerful as FOX Engine so I think we are good. We still do need a motion capture for animations. It's been a long time now.

Looks like some changes this year, I suppose that's neat but man, I reeeeeaaaally love PES 2017. Playing ML, Top Player, manual pass, basic shooting is the perfect balance for me. Been pretty much hooked since release, or since I finally got my settings (listed above) right.

Bring on the E3 trailer, let's do this.

could you explain what you mean by unresponsive?
unresponsive could mean different things to different people.
i think i get what you mean.
Anyway 2016 had this.

/QUOTE]

Players take longer to move when you turn your Analogue sticks, making it feel unresponsive, boring. And that is when not even sprinting.[

Edit: I fixed it. My reply somehow managed to get inside the quote lol.

Dude... delete that post because it's .. ahhh
  1. That with Messi is just pure PR. He has do not make mo cap for PES 2010.
  2. Konami uses mo-cop since ... PES 2 or PES 3 i guess .Just in recent years they do more and more , in PES 2017 is very clear. Most plays and situations are wholly captured mo-cop and feel like scripted and suited .
  3. And PES 2010 is one of the worst PES game like... ever

Someone to tell konami to put full manual without pressing a shoulder button. Tell them to make it like fifa manual directly with no extra button pressing!!! Please!!!

maybe that's the way you like it, others might not.

On recent years players movement look like they have been made on PC which that's what they have done in PES 2014. You can look at their trailers that year, they do the animations on their computers. On PES 2017 there is no way they motion captured, players are sliding all over the pitch and moving super unrealistically. It simply cannot happen with motion capture. Lets suppose they did, then who ever they motion captured must be an Alian or something, cuz no human moves like that. They wouldn't advertise it as a new feature this year if they always used it. Just saying. PES 2010 was decent to me. I didn't hate it as much as people did.

PES 10 was only decent because it had extra ordinary graphics, and the mods made it nice.

I had to actually use Kit Server to increase the game speed a lot, just to make the players a bit responsive.

Ofcourse animations are important, but I just hope they don't make the gameplay worse for this. Players in FiFA 16 doesn't slide all over the pitch but they respond quickly to users input. Hopefully PES 18 will be like that.

Only thing I did while playing PES 10 was slamming my keyboard and gamepad outta frustration.

Maybe if they add a response stat, things won't be as frustrating. Not every player is super fast with the ball you know. Again stats matters imo. But this year they are adding auto-shielding and strategic dribbling, so I guess it will help not lose the ball so quickly.

I even don't know how to comment this B.S.

PES 2014 has a way better and realistic animation compere with this ... embarrassing thing called PES 2010 . Again this is а video game , its not CGI movie . In the game , animations are different , situation different .. every seconds has at least 2-3 different animations . What the player will do, how he will do it, and when to do it, all depends on choosing the right animations , the game engines a lot programming and scripting . If some players move bad.. or robotic.. its from just from bad coding - programming, bad or limited engine or platform , bad animation scripts... Is not always the fault of the animation itself .
And again ! Konami use mo-cop since PS2 era , maybe there are some animation manually made on a computer .. but they are fewer because require much more time and work.

Dude plz learn what motion capture is and what it does. It eliminates sliding and adds realistic elements like turning and body posture. Look at FIFA they don't slide and their animations look more life like than on PES cuz they rely heavily on motion capture. The footwork is nonexistent on PES so how can it be motion caption. Look at the players running or walking on PES 2017, who the hell moves like that. It's all made on their computers like a WWE game.
