PES 2014 VS 15 VS 16

This is a tough question, but after thinking about it for a bit, I'd have to go:

1. 2014
2. 2016
3. 2015

The reasoning is quite simple: I think PES 2014 has the best gameplay out of all three installments. It has some glaring flaws (lack of rain or even cloudy weather especially stands out, as well as barebones ML and an "unfinished overall feel"), but the gameplay itself is quite enjoyable, with a lot of heaviness and emphasis on physicality., with a nice pacing to the matches. I've had some great matches in this edition, and I also quite enjoy one-bar passing here, an intermediate pass assistance of sorts, similar to Semi passing in FIFA.

PES 2016 comes next for me. A solid title, accessible and quite fun to play but with one noteworthy weakness: Goalkeepers. Increasing some stats and tweaks seems to improve the GK's, but not to the point where they are realistic (seems like you have to make the GK's 90+ to see a major difference, and this messes up the salaries in ML). Thankfully, the GK issue was resolved in PES 2017. Still, under the right conditions, it can be a very enjoyable title if you accept the flawed GK's as part of the game, and just go with the flow. I also love the fact that a fully licensed Copa Sudamericana (actually two of them, 2014 and 2015 Suda!) is available in this edition.

And lastly, PES 2015: This is a good title as well, gameplay wise. But it has one flaw that to me ruins the game: The Master League/Cup simulated CPU scores in anything over 10 minutes (which I personally find too short a duration) are WAY too high. For example, if you play 15 minutes, you will get simulated scores of 5-3, 6-4 etc.. And this to me is a gamebreaker. It's quite a shame because the game is quite solid in terms of playability on the field, but unfortunately this CPU simulated high scores glitch pretty much ruins the immersion for me. To date, it's the only PES I have uninstalled.

So there you go, that's my personal ranking of these three editions. :)

2014 needs a rain mod, I think if this is ever released it would add tons to the game! Unfortunately, PES 2014 is not a popular title, so the chances of this happening are pretty slim. :LOL:
 
I can't understand out how to jump to deflect the ball by the goalkeeper in 2015 (keyboard).
It just falls with a small slope.

The physicality of the players. There is a real sense of 'weight' to them especially when they come into contact with one another. The overall gameplay is also sufficiently different to make it feel fresh to me (it's very different to PES 2013). It seems as if Konami were trying to go down a different path with the series but then abandoned it after PES 2014.
 
Having ML on most of these game, and ill expand it to 17-18-19 as well, and this is from a Master League perspective only
PES 2014 (XBOX 360)
A real fun game despite it being quite unresponsive, no rain and very few stadiums to chose from.
CPU being quite solid and gives you a fair challenge, but the no rain and lack of stadiums is a hard pill to swallow.
PES 2015 (XBOX ONE)
This one is a sleeper for me, the ai is very challenging, even the PA1 is very "manual" the feel on the ball when controlling players are really good.
Looks ok for its age, music and menus best in all PES history for me.
And for a PES game easily the best when it comes to licences, La Liga 1-2, a full Serie A (teams)/Liga Argentina/Chile/Brazil plus CL EL and Copa Libertadores/Copa Sudamericana.
Ive recently played this the most of all my PES games and its really solid off and on the ball.
PES 2016 (XBOX ONE)
This is a weird one, really mixed bag of really good and bad.
Gameplay from the cpu really solid, didnt even edit the cpu teams because they play quite solid, not a lot of long balls etc.
Very responsive on the ball, bit hectic at times, more arcadey than 15 for me.
Then theres the goalkeepers, or lack of goalkeeping breaking a lot in this game, havent experienced that much in my ML with Real Betis but its there for sure, since i play FUMA on 10 min games so far ok
Licences are all over the place, a full La liga 1-2, Serie A non licenced but 19/20 teams are licenced, Liga Argentina 20/30 teams licenced, same with Chile Brazil and a fully licenced Copa L /CL EL
Ive had a good time playing this the past days, but prefer PES 2015 over it in the end
Plus weirdly not having a few South American stadiums in it that are always there

Will rate 17-18-19 later on
And these are my views on these games

PES 2017 (XBOX ONE)
Gameplay being really solid, cpu ai smart and unpredictable
Tons of physicality, the game with the most freekicks of all PES games (old pes games excluded)
A few things bother me, not very much but still bothers me.
CPU is way to tight on you, very hard to out sprint the cpu, even if you dribble then knock the ball a few yards and sprint theyre on to you asap.
This is the game were licences started to disappear, CL EL and Ligue 1-2 plus Dutch league and Brazil are fully licenced.
Argentina and chile has all the teams but not a licensed League (with emblem etc)
Still one of my favourite Pes game and most likely the one i played the most

PES 2018 (XBOX ONE)
For me the downfall of PES, gameplay less unpredictable, players still dribble and do the odd thing, but nowhere near where it used to be.
Most teams play exactly the same.
On the ball and dribbling, probably my favourite, brilliant dribbling mechanics in this game.
Looks really good ,love the games when its raining.
Licenceses are quite few. Ligue 1-2 Dutch league and Chilean league being fully licenced, and EL plus CL,
Serie A has 18/20 teams with real badges and kits, Argentinian league has all the teams.
I have come to like this the past few years but on release it was really hard liking it vs 17
VS 15-16-17 this is my least favourite one

Pes 2019 (XBOX ONE)
As this is based on me playing Master League this will be a short review.
Horrible Ai, one track pony with exactly the same build up every time and the same result when having a scoring chance.
They removed the D2 leagues for this game by adding other leagues which is an even bigger game breaker playing ML.
To me this is a horrible game trying to play a career mode on.
Only silverlining being it looks smashing and plays great on the ball, but doesnt help me when trying to play Master league.

The flipside about PES 2014 is that its gamplay alone was the closest thing we get into a football simulator and that you can sense the weight of each players and the ball.
