PC PES 2014 discussion thread

my main concern, is the game playable now on higher than professional?, is it playable now on top player? are the keepers bad as before, player awareness etc...?

I think it plays quite nicely on Top Player. Professional is too easy for me. I had some intense matches against Barcelona, Arsenal and Inter, playing as Bayern Munich and Chelsea. The midfield battles were neat.

I also noticed something, not sure if I noticed it before and this has probably got nothing to do with the patch.

Against Barca, the midfield tika tika was there but here and there, they will pump a long ball to messi or neymar, this usually happens if the AI cannot find a teammate closeby. Against inter, there is always a teammate nearby and the AI tends to pass to the closer teammate more often. I didn't look at inter's tactics but I suspect it has got to do with it as well as the formation. Their strikers seem to play closer to the midfield.

About shooting lacks of power.

I´ve never felt that. Not even before the patch.

If your player is in the right position, has a good shooting power value, uses his strong foot, shots always came powerful.

Even from long range! They just never got in.

Take Myrheim for example (Standard player in ML).
He has a very good shooting power (85 or something I guess) and with him, in the right situation I always had powerful shots (even in previous PES Versions).
He can´t do that when he gets distressed, has a bad position or uses his weak foot of course.

And you also can´t do a powerful shot when you try that with a player with a shooting power value in the 70´s and lower.

But if you take Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney etc. any player with high shooting power and maybe also the long ranger card, then you always had powerful shots.

And that´s where the player individuality comes in.
I realise it and keep wondering how some people don´t.

Just my opinion.

Everything is fine with shooting power? I can assure you it's far from it.

I also saw videos of people claiming they scored from long range. Sadly, most of those attempts wouldn't be even considered long range in current world of football.

Most of those are scored from just behind the goal area (~20 yards) out. That is close range. Even normal person, can hit ball hard enough to beat GK. Tested in real life with friends who NEVER play football. 22-25 yards out is slightly further out, but in PES 2014 still the ball will be hit hard enough for it to reach goal. There is no problem with shooting from specific range. Up to 25-26 yards out, shoots will be powerful enough. Here I find no problem.

However, try shooting from OUTSIDE that range. For example being half way after kick off line. That's 30-40 yards out. Sure, if I am honest, I can see maybe 6-8 goals like that scored in WHOLE football season all around the World, but it DOES happen.

If you fill FULL power bar from 40 yards out with Lampard/Gerard (players who really can hit ball hard in real life), the ball... Won't even reach the goal. It will just fall down in the area. Try it and post videos.

To show what I mean:

YouTube - R.Carlos long range rocket top corner !!! HD [PES6]

Here is video from PES6 showing exactly what sort of shooting I miss.

As we are still here, I find PES 2014 through balls passing being... Very random and control of it is not really in your hands by decided by AI.

I want to have control where my ball goes, but sadly, even on Advanced it is... Random. You really are not in total control when playing through balls. Anyone felt the same way? I was bound to put it in Cons yesterday, but forgot.

EDIT:

Why aren't PC users getting 20 stadiums like on PS3? There is only 19! (well, 18 because 19 is Random).

Hmmm ok, got you.
Honestly, I´ve never tried it from a range like that.
That is long long range to me, lol.

I was referring to positions like 10 - 15 meters before the box.

Hey Mates,

really like the game after 1.04 Patch ageinst friends offline :WORSHIP:

The Problem:
the replays and highlights are choppy.

my system

I5 2500K @ 4600MHz
GTX 580 Overclocked
and 8 GB 1866 MHz ram

and it was Choppy like hell, not in the game, just replays and highlights... so i cant enjoy my chigarette after a good game ageinst mates viewing highlights :SMOKIN:

some tipps or ideas what to do in nvidia setting to solve this problem? or is the Xbox 360 port just shit ?

That's weird, mine was choppy and jumpy in replays before patch but is smooth now

I7
Gtx 670
8 GB Ram
ssd
Newest nvidia driver all default settings but power always set to prefer maximum performance

hmm yeah thats weird... it seems some better with new patch, but its still not smooth as PES 2013, i play FullHD downsampling 2560x1440, but that CANT be a hardwareproblem, because CPU and GPU wont be really hot

yeah apparently so...I downloaded the patch from the official konami site and it doesn't work. I remember they sent me an email about downloading 1.01 so I just sent them an email asking if its the same for 1.04

Ok they replied me, u can download the patch from the same site as u downloaded 1.01. I just did and patched the game successfully. going to try it out now!

Cheers

Please, post the link to this site u downloaded the patch. I bought my game from them too.

a good pc needs all the ram you can get, minimum 16GB. you have a good pc so get more ram and all the chopping will be gone.

16GB is good, but mostly overkill for normal user. 8GB is still PLENTY for gaming, because what's more important is GPU VRAM size (this will be getting more importance in near future due to huge texture sizes), GPU speed and mem speed. Then 2nd is CPU speed and minimum requirement would be still... Dual-core. Quad utilization in games is still novelty and probably you can count games which utilize all cores on one hand. 6 cores and above should, in theory, last for very long time. I would take SSD drive over more RAM anytime of the day too.

As we are on this topic, PES 2014 after doing some tests, loading max texture sizes, all stuff on maximum settings, forcing AA/AF,etc. uses max 800MB of system RAM. Impressive. ;)

That has reminded me of silly problem which was common few years ago with certain games. If you had too much RAM, the game crashed or didn't run at all or other bizarre things happened . Of course RAM was checked and no faults were found. The solution was to take out one stick of RAM to play the game. This worked.

Bug in optimization which happened when people were still learning to program games. Even id Software had some bizarre problems. ;)

I thought that badly optimized and tested games would be a thing of the past in the future, but on the contrary, it's starting to look even worse than back then. One word of advise to game developers/publishers: "Greed leads to corruption."

Remember that.

Played the demo few days ago, and the optimization is terrible.

How in Earth can I have 60 FPS during gameplay and 30 FPS during cutscenes/replays, but 8-10 FPS anytime the crowd is present? It doesn't make sense.

I was playing at 1280x720, with my GeForce GT 620, which runs FIFA 14 just fine with the same resolution.

A few pics confirming the problem. (Notice the FPS counter in top right corner).

Is it fixed with the recent patch?

yeah this is a mess and need a FIX

it dont care what a godam hellmachine PC you have, replays and cutscenes a always choppy... that makes me sick :PIG:

I don't think GPU will become that prominent for future gaming; there is a certain limit of how high quality texture the screen monitor can actually process. Not only that, at a certain point, an increase in resolution of textures, results in negligeable subjective improvement for the user. GPU is all about streamlined predictable data flow anyway; the majority of it would be textures and graphics.

In the future, i'm predicting that developers will make more use of more dynamic effects like shadowns, lightning, AI, and physics; which will be much more CPU intensive.

The reason why RAM increase started leveling out in comparison to the CPU and GPU, is because of the improvements of the said components. There was just no need to store more memory into RAM and replace them constantly. Larger bus width, improved architecture, faster processing speed is happening.

When it comes to optimization, i still stand by the fact that consoles are so much easier to optimize compared to PC. While the consoles are a closed system, PC's have millions of configurations. Games are also getting really complex nowadays; adding shadows to a no-shadow game already requires a remake of so many variables. It's no wonder developers are finding it difficult to optimize games compared to ten years ago.

When i load up the game, it takes me to the webpage to download the latest patch, but once i get there, the page is basically just blank. Any ideas? Cheers.

I also downloaded the game from Gaming Dragons and if i remember correctly, they're not supported by Konami, and i can't remember what i did last time to get the first patch. I'm useless. :FAIL:

Any ideas. Cheers.

The amount of old pointless journeyman type players that Konami made faces for is ridiculous...

Dennis Rommedahl(I thought he retired years ago)
Wes Brown
Jermaine Pennant
Ryan Taylor(poor bloke has been injured for years)
Damien Duff
Robbie Keane

Why waste time on these type of players who should of retired long ago instead of creating new faces for the young hot prospects that will still be around for next years game.

Konami logic:RANT:

There's very few game that utilize up to 4GB of RAM or even 2GB, let alone 16GB. To me it is just a waste of power. Unless you run so much background processes at the same time. 16GB and above are preferable for workstation, for rendering, editing or benchmarking.

620 is severely underpowered even if PES 2014 is badly optimized. Replay and cutscenes are always need more GPU memory since the level of details are different than from gameplay perspective. My machine could render the cutscenes on acceptable frame rate but dip on replay. Same stuff with FIFA, just not as severe as PES.

The problem is during gameplay the game looks like crap. There is no Anti-Aliasing. The textures and models look miserably bland.

During replays/cutscenes/zoomed scenes, the graphic engines shows its beauty with details, shading, etc.

I hope someone solves this quickly, doesn't look like Konami have any plans to do anything.

Has anybody else noticed the game has turned into an arcade goalfest since the new patch. I didn't mind it too much before the patch but jesus every game is 3-3 or more, and all poxy goals scored by mistakes (CPU goals and my goals). no build up play, every player seems to be running at the same lightening speed with the same tackling ability. And the speed of the game. I normally play PES on 0 but even at -2 its still too bloody fast. From one extreme to the other

For me the speed is the same. Maybe just slightly faster.
