PC PES 2014 discussion thread

Is there any news on when Konami are going to fix the responsiveness of the game on the pc? I played Pes13 last night at my mates and based on the fact that players responded correctly, the game felt great. i can't last a full match on Pes14 without turning it off.

Is there a way to stop retired players coming back into the game in ML?

I'm 5 seasons in and my immersion has been completely ruined because of them as I can't enjoy the transfer windows as I have to scroll through tons of reborn regens who I refuse to buy.

I think there used to be an option to turn them off, though maybe I'm thinking of Football Manager.

I am using the Fire patch2014 and in comp/league i get to the fourth game and the i get " PES2014 has stopped working " and crash to desktop. Anyone know what this could be?

I saw Frank Lampard regen at 2nd season of my ML campaign

@InfoO
Let me help you.. PES does look nextgen graphic :SMUG:

Haha, yeah it does look good.

However, gameplay wise, it needs some work to be done.

Sure there is a time that we have nice situation with beautiful pace attack then passing, having powerful shoot, blocked by GK, scrambling, shoot again, and to be let down by the GK reaction at the end :TTTH:. Not always but it happens. I think that's one of example why people mad, e.g. joyful moment ruined by small error.

remember this? :)

somehow i miss seabass...

funny thing is, I hated PES 2011 with passion due to most inconsistant passing system ever implemented in game .

Plus PES 2011 is one of few PES I was not willing to play. PES 2014 sadly is 2nd one I have no urge to play despite it being installed...

Funny, how opinios differ which is a good thing, btw :).

I loved PES 2011 more than, 2012 and 2013.
The passing system was just right to me.
In 2012, 2013 and 2014 no passing bar reaches the one from 2011 imho.

Nope. Have no hopes for it to come out this week either... ;)

pes 2011 had inconsistent passing if you chose not to use manual passing via lb if i rememeber correctly. Very fun game.

pes 2011 was the first 'kinda' good pes this gen. It was miles better than pes 2012 for me. All pes 2012 had was the the better AI, everything else was worst.

It's funny you know; for PES 2014, it is the opposite. The AI, especially the defensive and goalkeepers, took a huge dive. I guess they can't really copy paste the codes from pes 2013 with all the new variables of the new physics. It's a new engine after all, not like the modified ps2 versions from before.

I know it's off-topic, but ignite engine from fifa isn't really a new engine right? Watching the gameplay videos, it seems too similar, its probably a modification or an upgrade of the current engine.

Really? That's what you do when you're bored... toss out wtfs and lols at peoples' efforts and contibutions? So let's see you do a better job than this.

I was not bored - I gave my opinion, like I said, I wasnt trying to be funny, the 'wtf lol' shouldnt have been there though, can see it can be read badly.

Ignite isn't yet fully utilized I guess however, I bet most noticeable change is using 64-bit registers which allow far greater memory allocation, which, like Rutter said, directly impacts on how many animations can be allocated, players jumping for ball, etc.

Yes, it was all before on PES, but... PES never had that amount of animations FIFA has. Never. Even new PES 2014 re-uses passing animations a lot, CG FIFA does the same (with most noticeable being long range passing and through balls). Now with Ignite this will change.

The next step they should take is remodelling player models, but if they do that, there is high probability they would have to re-do animations mo-cap. As EA thinks in financial terms such change must deliver direct profit. If it does, then they will do it ;).

Speaking of such stuff is heart breaking though as I really do believe PES and FOX engine have potential, but it won't be reached in KONAMI hands (check Mo-Cap from NBA 2k and how was it done and then compare with some mo-cap done on PES).

Shocking.

From now on I somlemnly promise to use the word "soon" to express "I don´t know when". I am really curious how people will react to this.:JAY:

The motion capturing and game modelling 2K achieved now is the result of an evolution at least since 2009. This is "Pro Evolution".

I cannot belive what Konami did with PES 2014. The game has soooo much potential that easily can replace all thoughts about PES 6 and WE9LE in terms of gameplay. It`s like a puzzle, they just need to fix some things and the game can be awesome! I like the gameplay itself until i reach to the opposition goal, then the game comes to troubles, manual finesse shooting don`t work, players run away from the ball, awareness is strange either when attacking or defending. For me these 3 things need urgent fix if they want the game to be enjoyable. Jenkey tool is awesome and I can`t describe how much it helps for us pc players, but for console players i feel bad. From what i read in the forums WE 2014 is more advanced code from PES 2014 so my hopes are that we will recieve patch with gameplay from WE, if not, than nobody can help Konami from disaster even on next gen consoles becouse they cannot convience the people and say: hey this is next gen, forget about last gen, this is something new. Nobody can buy that. I think that Konami don`t know how much important is the move they need to do with the upcoming patch..

I played the next gen version of Fifa and it did feel the same

I think everyone gets it you love FIFA. Funny how ignite it not fully utilized yet konami is fucking up fox implementation... You put a nice spin on it

I don't love any game. I have all ISS/PES titles and FIFA from 98 to 2009 (PC only). Haven't bought FIFA 10 and 12. Bought 11 and 13, got 14 for free from mate.

I just know history of both titles on PC market and how all changed. Maybe that's where the difference is.

PC users up to FIFA 10 were offered absolute crap of the game based on PS2 engine. Back then PES was viable option to play as it offered better gameplay and graphics, even when some titles were badly optimized (PES 2008 and corners caused stuttering). Until PES 2010 it was better game.

But with FIFA 11 the tide that came swept ground clear. KONAMI was pushed back then and should have realized they cannot come with rubbish anymore. They started to lose clients even on PC.

Now let's come back to Pro Evolution here. PES 2008 was actually quite playable, still using PS2 core, but with updated graphics and with added, what I thought back then, best AI yet in football game. I mean Teamvision AI and how AI learned how you play and delivered strategies to beat you.

No magic boosting, but play the same way vs AI and you will in the end be punished. That was something yet unseen in football games. ;)

Back then, remember skills/tricks were still performed on right analogue stick.

PES 2009 changed control scheme (for what reason, I don't know). Now feints, tricks were performed on left stick alone.

Not much to say about AI, but it degraded in my view. The AI started to play in same way, same pattern all the time.

PES 2010 was the best looking PES. Graphically wise the colors were vivid, lively, not flatten out, the level of details was v. good out of the box.

Pretty good on the field too and they added 360 degree movement (well, partially) to it.

Here I take big breath now. It was year 2009 when PES 2010 and FIFA 10 were released, but... Back then EA Sports came with surprise announcement (Ian actually from Beautiful Game Studios). They said: next FIFA will be using NG engine on PC.

What went through Seabass mind back then, I would rather not know. However, PES 2011 came out and... In some ways it was worse than PES 2010.

I don't want to go into details, but it was then when they announced proudly 1000 new animations were added. Sure, it could be felt and seen. When you passed the ball and the guy... Decided to go round the ball to touch it with right foot.

It happened quite frequently ruining something PES was known for. Fluidity.

Add to that inconsistent passing system which was KONAMI/PES answer to ProPassing which mixed randomness with angering people script. What I mean, touch the button lightly and ball goes 20m from you, do the same next time, the ball barely moves away from your foot. Took time getting used to, but for first few games I had WTF is happening there moments.

PES 2011 also introduced the plague we have nowadays. Terrible and I mean terrible goalkeepers. They made some World Class saves of course, but... Whole image of them could be broken in one moment in game when they let ball go to the net straight through their hands. Didn't matter if it was van der Sar or Cassilas in goal.

There is one more problem they haven't addressed till now. There are only 3 states of player movement possible. Stand still, jog, sprint. Mix into it slow turning animation.

No in between states.

PES 2012. Again changed from PES 2011. Sped up the game, sped up animations, AI was dribbling and through balls king. The GK were not addressed which led to funny scorelines :P.

PES 2013 - the best version they could have built PES 2014 on. It had almost all fixed already with last patch. They needed to upgrade some stuff, try and make Football Life more emerging, overhaul menus, etc. Fix some gameplay annoyances here and there. Bump up graphics (it could be done if you look at player based turfs ;)). Why they didn't do that is beyond me.

PES 2014 is half assed backed game. Unfinished. They took out stuff and that's massive crime. The AI, Goalkeepers and other stuff I don't want to repeat. Enough has already been said about that.

If they wanted to give this generation proper goodbye they could have done it. People would have forgiven them if they offered CG PES once more this year, but much more polished.

Then they could prepare for NG PES introduction, but with all stuff in it.

You may love the franchise, sure, but it's clear they lost their way. Unfortunately like I said, I can't see PES going out of the gutter in KONAMI hands.

agree on everything .
I'm back to 2013 , the game is not perfect , incredibly much better than 2014
response in passing, shooting , movement , FULL MANUAL PASS , rain , no lag issues
graphically not very good , but you can play .
please give a chance to personally see much difference , I tried 2014 once again, all so heavy, unanswered shots ridiculous , exaggerated animations , this is not the way

1280x1024 high settings
PES 2013 VERSION 1.04
turfs by hany, no replay logo, supported banner patchs, chants
kits , faces , stadiums , tranfers all updated

HEAVEN

Started to play PES 14 with passing bar 0 (definitely worth to try - 1 bar is too assisted as for now, with it you don't even have to work a bit on your buildup), zoomed out Mid-Range camera, 20 min matches on Professional level.

Probably never played better football game. Yes, even without a patch.

Can't imagine this. Playing PES 2013 now would be like starting to eat or write using your left hand (being right handed, off course).

ML play, give opportunity (2014)
when you discover the errors of the game, try once more 2013
2014..Player response is rubbish, no dynamics, everything is heavy, slow and ridiculous.
I understand they want the simulation, but this is a joke

pass, shotting, GK..and others.............
the only thing that has "improved" graphics and some animations are (not all, some very exaggerated)

but looking like a "complete game" is a disrespect and a mockery to all,GAMEPLAY GAMEPLAY

november no patch? 2 months? THANKS!!!

History repeats itself.
Fifa 14 is LAST GEN on PC. Just like was FIFA 07 (on Xbox 360 it was just like FIFA 14 is on Xbone/PS4). Soo if we judge by last EA's track things will go like:
Last Gen:
FIFA 07/FIFA 14
FIFA 08/FIFA 15
FIFA 09/FIFA 16
FIFA 10/FIFA 17

SemiNext Gen:
FIFA 11(aka FIFA 10.5)/FIFA 18

Same as console version:
FIFA 12/FIFA 19

So in October of 2018 PC users will get the SAME version of the consoles.
