PC PES 2014 discussion thread

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

first: catch up bug is game breaking, ask and u see many people agree.
second: i've played 12 matches, not one header was met by an attacker after mashing B then Y(low header)
third: too many random bugs happening during games, like players not running to meet the ball while it's obviously going towards it, he just let's the ball go out of bounds.
fourth: i'm playing on professional, -1 game speed, everything basic, 2 bars passing.
fifth: u are trying to defend a game that is just not there yet, players near the byline just keep walking the ball to the throw in, while i'm clearly holding the left stick down towards the penalty area!!!!

I'm not defending anything.

1: I don't have catch up problems really. I run past players no problems.
2: I've had headers in every match.
3: Sometimes players do get unresponsive or it's like they lost the sense of knowing where the ball is, but can't blame them much when player's running in a different direction to where I passed. But needs tweaking.
4: If you're playing on professional and basic shooting and can't get headers on, then you're not doing it right. Go to training mode and play on lesser difficulties until you get the hang of it.

please enlighten me on the headers? i'm having this problem also on top player, how to hit headers?

The best I can tell you is:

- The player has to be in the right place
- Press and release the shoot button before it reaches the player's head

And try this in training and lower difficulties to get the hang of it. Nothing wrong with doing that.

So you think its realistic that Pique catches up to Walcott at full speed, and basically runs 3 times faster than him? Maybe you should go watch some soccer on tv.

i have outruned two players from centre to goal with sturridge on superstar..so you just dont know how to run..practice

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

YouTube - Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 - CR7+Morata combination

YouTube - Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 - Isco header HD

You can score headers with no problem after some practice. More annoying are the keepers who are locked to certain area of goal (not protecting whole area).

Add to that inability to catch ball when the ball is moving 3km/h and you have game breaker here.

Because other things are rather spot on.

No catch-up bug for me. Beat 2 defenders with Bale yesterday on pace alone. ;)

Walcott is fast too. But you need to know when to sprint and how to open space for yourself (even if defender does get near you, it doesn't mean you'll lose ball).

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Plenty of people do care about these things, myself included. The pitiful number of stadia and player faces are immersion-killers for some.

Immersion is up to the players, not the game. There is nothing that breaks immersion in PES2014 as there aren't football players with donkey heads in it but there are fewer cosmetic "helpers" than in FIFA for example.

If you're unable to immerse yourself in PES2014 because it hasn't got the sexiest goal nets, vastest amounts of faces and all the stadiums in the world then it's your imagination that's lacking to be honest. The act of immersing yourself into PES/FIFA is simply to let go of reality for a while and "roleplay" an alternative football reality.

That being said, I also hope they'll include more of that stuff once the gameplay fine tuned and the UI/edit mode is improved.

if i'm ready as u said after training, and the game is not broken in those aspects, then i'm inviting you to dinner,i want someone to assure me that the king is back...nothing else.

bro i'm feeling more unresponsive gameplay especially inside the penalty area, i feel the player is restrained to a certain part, what do u think?

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I have no problem with the catch up bug/feature. If it keeps the speed whores from dominating online it's worth it.

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Hi guys, any of you have trouble with defender while defend corner kick? I cannot make a Hard clear header, could someone have some tips to help ?

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

@ramgamer

First off, I love the game as it's got great potential. That being said I certainly feel the unresponsiveness that you mention, which is nothing new in the PES series to be fair, but I haven't noticed any increase of button delay inside the box. I'm not saying it's not so, but I haven't noticed it.

What I've done to "counter" the unresponsiveness is simply to try to be one step ahead mentally. In reality players have to decide before getting the ball exactly what they're going to do with it once they get it and I try to do the same in the game. When things doesn't go as planned, which is basically almost every time, I try to make the best out of the situation.

In previous versions of the game I've always just taken every situation as they come along with no underlying plan but this "new" way of playing is actually quite satisfying. It will work for me until they either fix the delay or I eventually "master" the current situation.

I have no problem with the catch up bug/feature. If it keeps the speed whores from dominating online it's worth it.

I've actually found that double tapping the sprint button once clear of a defender the catch up is hardly noticeable if the player in possession is fairly quick.

I don't get it then, sprinting is taping RB is it not? How else are u supposed to sprint.. and everytime the defender gets a turbo jet in his back, its impossible to go on a 1 on 1 situation.. are you playing on pc?

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I might give that a go as I'm having similar frustrations. I'm having yet another bi-polar relationship with PES. It's brilliant, it's shite, then it's brilliant again, then it's so-so. :SMUG:

Side note: I literally laughed out loud when I had a player sent off for this. The CPU usually does their best Bas Rutten impersonations on me and never get called, but I get sent off for a legitimate challenge! Foot/studs were sideways (as if it even takes that into account).

YouTube - PES 2014 - Suspect Red Card

That would definately be a red card IRL because his feet were off the ground.

double tap for speed burst and hold it in for sprint.

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Heading on manual has cost me at least 10 goals :P Starting to use pass to shoot from headers, it's the only alternative.

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I just decided to reinstall the game after all the pratting about I've been doing. I installed the game and the patch straight away, now in game it seems I don't have to download the data pack for some reason?

nevermind. the downloaded stuff was still in programdata folder :P

The uninstall won't remove your saves and such. Perhaps since data packs are basically option files and extra data, perhaps the data was still on your system?

Sorry, I see you solved it yourself!

Yeah, I think the data packs are stored in C:/ProgramData, away from the normal install directory. So depending on how it was unistalled it may have left the data pack folder untouched.

I did a fresh reinstall, and switched controller settings from xinput to directinput and felt as thought the game ran with less input lag compared to before but thats probably just a huge placebo affect.

direct input is far better. No placebo here. But PS3 Demo still way more responsive to PC-Version.

That's a rather archaic argument. I used my imagination plenty back in the days of the Amiga when footballers were sprites composed of a few pixels. Now we have technology capable of bringing us more lifelike experiences.

I will continue to demand more from this game rather than make do and be happy with a stripped-down video game.

I thought so, I think i had it set up on directinput sometime before the patch 1.01 became available bt mustve switched over at some point. Using a wired 360 controller myself but I've seen a couple of comments from people use ps3 controllers on pc and experiencing no input lag.

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I'll give direct input a try once I've finished reinstalling (again).

I did however find something really weird on my system when I searched for folders called Konami. There was one with the path:

c:\ProgramData\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\(plus many)\Konami

Apparently that 'Application Data' is something to allow legacy applications to use the Vista\Windows 7 file system scrutcure, but I have no idea why PES put anything in that. And you can't navigate to it - it's like some kind of inception or Portal gun folder (sorry for getting technical). Anyway I didn't like the look of it so I've deleted it. Not likely anything to do with anything but I'll post back.

To tell you the truth, I'd like to know how long Konami have been working on this game. It has a PES 6 Xbox 360 vibe about it in that very little time has been dedicated to certain elements of the game. It's just lacking in certain aspects that you wouldn't expect it to be. Though I don't really care about stadiums - although more varied ones would be nice - weather is a big deal. All in all, they quite clearly just haven't finished the game with the new engine, and I imagine its big hooray will come next-gen. They've thrown it onto this Gen, maybe even taking some things out in the first place to be able to fit it on the Xbox 360 (which let's not forget is still limited by the 6gb disc size). That's very speculative but them not releasing for PS4 and Xbone straight away may also reflect the lack of actual finish to the game. You have to think that of course they would want to if they could. We'll never know, but just playing the game you know something is amiss.

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Hahahha! That's awesome. :)

Got great potential this game, but too many shitty bugs for it to be 100% enjoyable at the moment. Get Yair on this one, and I'll bet we'll have the most fun football game for years! :)

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Actually it's not... the alternative is letting go of the imagination "because you don't need it anymore" since the graphics nowadays are so nice and all but in truth graphics and pictures can never replace imagination which is why books are still better than movies... if you can be bothered to read them. ;)

True, but I would rather trade-off imagination for immersion.

Immersion is always better than having to create scenarios for yourself, in my opinion anyway.

Am I right in assuming that any gamplay mods would mess up online play?

Re: PES 2014 discussion thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Haven't tried playing online yet but things seem to be a bit better for me now. Sadly I've done several things so hard to say which one has made a difference.

1. Installed on my SSD system drive rather than my usual larger games drive.
2. Removed mystery folder I mentioned above.
3. Changed to Direct Input
4. Running in XP SP3 compatability mode (ignore the warning)
5. Back to vsync via d3doverrider again

Good luck :/
