I'm really not sure where I stand on PES2014. After playing a number of games last night it is without doubt the best gameplay of any PES on this generation. That's hardly an accolade but I genuinely think Konami have finally created a great platform to build from.

Despite this, something doesn't feel quite right about the game. It certainly has an unfinished feel to it, rushed even. The game has lost many licences, well over half it's stadia, real player faces are minimal, we now have Master League Lite, all of which contribute to the sense of an unfinished product.

Presentation and UI are still clumsy, amateurish and dated-looking. Perhaps the easiest thing for Konami to get right yet they seem incapable of creating a slick, attractive, user-friendly menu system.

The PC version has received no optimisation whatsoever. I wasn't expecting much from what is essentially a console port, but with the new engine I think Konami should be looking to make better use of the power of PCs. If anything this game runs worse than PES2013 as it seems that cut-scenes run at console frame-rates.

Some simple HD texture packs wouldn't go amiss nor would some simple display options such as AA and AF levels, shadow quality, etc...

When I consider how long this 'revolution' has been in the works, I think the game is in a fairly poor state. It's going to take a few patches to get the best out of PES2014, not to mention a huge effort from modders to replace missing content.

At the moment it's a 7/10 game for me. With good patches, DLC and mod content behind it, PES2014 could easily be a 9/10 game.

If that was you I was actually playing against, that was one bar of passing assistance with basic shooting and advanced through balls. Maybe it's more telling than anything that passing with one bar can seem fully assisted. I prefer manual online and I was actually testing one bar passing out.

Yup, it had like little bit of lag for me anyway but mostly smooth so it's best one to date and i thought it was quite enjoyable. No the ping pong 1-1 was the guy after you, I was on 2 bar with advanced shooting, no idea what my through ball was on. still trying to find best one that suits myself, i'd like to play manual but the guy i played right after you, is the worst thing i've seen. just first time pass, at all angles, pure pace, it was horrible. They need to make the host set the rules so you're not playing someone with everything fully up.

Oh that's cool then. Yeah it was a good game. There was a tiny bit of lag for me but it was smooth enough to play and the best I've played too lag-wise. I set the game to play Extra Time and Penalties in case of a draw but it just went back to the lobby which was weird.

I'm really unsure what happens when somebody hosts a game. I've played 3 games so far and we've been matched up pretty equally. I suspected the game set both user support settings to whatever the host (so me) had set but I haven't played enough games to really know for sure yet.

The responsiveness is greatly improved when increasing the speed the speed of the game to +1 but then the tempo of the game is too fast. At +1, i was finally able to dribble and beat some defenders because of the improve reponsiveness

Haven't had a chance to try it as I'm installing W7 at the moment. Online menu should be there after the update from what I've been reading. Am I wrong?

Guys, I have a Dell xps 15 laptop with Intel HD Graphics 3000/GT 525M 1gb vram, Vsync on, triple buffer on.
It runs really smoothly for the first quarter of a match and starts to slow down gradually until it's totally unplayable.
Is my video card just not good enough or is there something I can do to make it smooth?

Yesterday I've applied the first patch and I must tell, it seem some things have changed in a positive way.
The GKs react better, now it's possible to do headers on the 16m area and the replays are way smoother than before the patch.
The management-screen still a bit laggy, but I've I switch players with the digital-stick, there are no lags, only with the analog-sticks, but think this will be fixed also very soon!
At all, a nice patch, which improves the gameplay a lot, nice one, KONAMI! :)

if you have rivatuner or a similar program to cap your FPS try setting it to 30fps or 60 fps and see if it makes a difference. If you have MSI Afterburner you should already have rivatuner installed.

What specs is your pc?

I played this on a i5 2nd gen cpu, 2gb ram and only a 260gtx and the game ran silky smooth at 1080p.

i agree that the licencing and faces are minimal but its clear they focused more on the gameply.

It is a new engine so you have to bare that in mind

I hate SweetFX normally, due to it being way too colourful. But those are the first ones I like. Mind posting the settings?

Whatever, must wait for new computer, without any graphic-fixes PES2014 runs on maxed out settings smoothie. :)

Maybe I'll try sweetfx anyway, maybe it will work, dunno (if not, I still can delete/deactivate sweetfx :D).

Just press 'Scroll Lock' to turn it on and off easily. You can compare how well it runs with and without it then.

Anyone can upload RadeonPro on a other host? Here I can't go by the direct download from their page, cuz the anti-virus prog block it... but at home my internet still sucks as hell until October, like I said before.. :(

BTW there was guy having issues with his laptop and PES not recognising his graphics card.

If you've got the latest NVIDIA drivers, start the settings program by right-clicking and choosing "run with high performance Nvidia card"

That worked for me, otherwise iw as stuck with my HD4000 internal!

working like a dream on an Nvidia Geforce 640M LE, 1600x900 high.

the max framerate i got 48 fps

This just isn't clicking with me, It actually reminds me of FIFA on the PS2 days or even FIFA 07 on the 360.

The dribbling mechanism is completely broken, i don't feel anymore in control with Nani than I do with Cleverley when it comes to close control along with the fact the AI constantly doing the same shift back and forward trick whenever going forward regardless of player they all seem to love that.

so I have noticed, the only way to hit headers from crosses or corners on manual shooting is with triangle, hope it gets fixed..I m on basic shooting now and L2 when i want manual..hope it gets fixed, enjoying the game
