Another vote for a two year release cycle - for PES and Fifa. Won't happen of course.

I would vote for three year cycle between BIG releases, with small gameplay changes in between. And a proper release schedule, like:

Champions League Final: New version announcement.
Mid-August: Demo
Last weekend of August: Release

September is too late for a footy game.

can we have a PC recommended settings thread.

for example I have an NVidia graphics card, I am unsure what settings I should have in NVidia control panel for pes2014 to get the best out of the game

I like the soundtrack. Tried to play a game. But ended up having to watch Argentina get stuffed.....

It runs very smoothly..... Win 7 64 bit system due for a rehab with Chillblast very shortly.





However my controller does not work with the game stuck in either the USB 2 or 3 ports. So I installed PES2012 just to check and the controller works in that and I was enjoying 2012 until the cheat script reared up.....

What sort of controllers are recommended for this ? I was itching to play but can't at the moment.

Unsure why you can't use it, are you checking "DirectInput" in the controller settings?

There won't be much difference, at least for non-critical eyes. If you're looking for something visible, try SweetFX.

Personally i don't like to use it, too much fiddling with little gain. And it over-exaggerate some effect like HDR, bloom and contrast.

Share your sweetFX settings then, we will see how it looks like ;-) In my case, with settings shared from NBA patch, it doesn't look like you just described. Nets and turf - Two the most important things in football game. It must be sexy!

Hey guys I definetely found something!!!
I have found, that setting affinity to only 3 threads (or CPUs) makes game more responsive, input lag is reduced and overall gameplay is much more fluid. Check it out and tell if it works for you.
Just try it!

Xinput is for x-input supported controller such as xbox 360 gamepad and Logitech Rumblepad. For legacy or old controller, just select directinput.

Any suggestions for removing the absolutely awful delay input? Running an i5 3570k CPU, GTX 680 and 8GB RAM so my system is more than capable of running PES but this feels worse than pretty much any other game with regards to input response. I'm pretty sure PES 2013 (and earlier) responded quicker.

Sometimes it feels like an actual second is passing before the player responds.

I abandoned Fifa last time round because PES 4's football blew it out of the water. For me to forgo all of Fifa's off pitch depth, PES 2014 is going to have to make a similar impact. By the sounds of what I'm reading so far, that isn't going to be the case.

When's the damn PC demo coming out?

As I await the PC demo, can anybody answer this... Is this input delay I hear so much about:

1. A hardware/setup issue that only some are having?
2. A true input-delay game issue, one that everyone is experiencing on some level?
3. An intentional game-design decision meant to simulate players' individual and differing response times, depending on their particular skills and abilities?

Hope it's #3.

Just get yourself a copy of FIFA. Would save your dilemma, it isn't all bad. From EA forum i knew you decided to abandon them this time only because of Ignite omission, not because of PES' own merit. Because of that you're likely won't enjoy the game as much as you did with FIFAs.

Take a look around, even without Ignite FIFA on CG/PC this year still received rave reviews by fans and critics. And seeing you already like the game, to me it is no brainer.

Just managed to get in a quick game. First impressions are good but I won't comment too much on gameplay until I've played a good number of games. Clearly there is a lot to learn this year.

I like the fluid animations - much like FIFA - but with the traditionally solid, weighty feel of PES.

The game seems to be running silky smooth but the lack of display and graphics options is a little disappointing. No v-sync option yet my game was holding a rock solid 60fps?

I'll probably do what others suggest and set 'always on' v-sync in the drivers. Also, this game seems to be no more demanding than PES2013 - my 7950 still runs mostly in idle mode, jumping to full speed for replays and such like. Again, I will force highest clocks as I did with PES2013.

Wireless 360 controller works a treat. No sound problems. All good so far.

Graphics are clearly in need of the LOD mixer and some high-res pitch textures.

People have different types of Nvidia cards mate. What works well for one might not work so well for another one.

Generally speaking though I find setting an individual profile and switching vsync on,triple buffering on and prefer maximum performance in power management mode works well. The rest you can experiment with.

Really? First time I heard that was the reason. If so, is there an option to shut off crowds like in FIFA? That's how I usually play anyway. And is the delay not by design so as to simulate individual player skill? Thought maybe it was on some level...?

Have you seen those screens above with the SweetFX I use? The turf looks good to me. Some can make the colours far too bright but I think the one I use is pretty good...

It's working now. Checked under the controller tab and the USB Pad selection was hidden.

Works fine. Played a couple of games.

Getting used to it but it does run smoothly in replays and actual gameplay.

Lost 1-0 to Elche on regular and conceded 5 yellow cards with Barcelona..... And then 1-0 again. Three yellows and Pedro escaping a red. It will take time getting used to but it feels weighty and the games pace is spot on.

I liked the trainer graphic when he came on but the crowd in these scenes can clearly be seen not to be of the same standard and more reminiscent of 2D figures.

Played at Old Trafford summer and it does look like high summer in England with a pale blue vault of a sky.

I have a dedicated CPU cooler with paste 15 months old.

Under idle and ambient room conditions it was running at 33 C on the cores but rising to 51 C maximum under the load of the game and returning quickly to 33 C when I stopped playing.

I am enjoying my first foray into this.

Not me right now but you bring up a good point. Maybe we should share details to play together.

Problem: I don't see a way to add people like on PSN/XBL/Steam though. Is there one?

Perhaps we could all agree to go to the same lobby. One of the unused ones.

I would play as football is played with long patient passing, midfield struggles and passing back quite often.

But I am just starting out....

My settings in Nvidia CP are:

Anistropic Filtering - 16x
Antialiasing - FXAA - On
Antialiasing - Mode - Override
Antialiasing - Setting - 32x CSAA
Antialiasing - Transparency - 8x (Supersample)
Power management mode - Prefer maximum performance
Texture filtering - Anistropic sample optimisation - Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias - Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality - High quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimisation - On
Triple buffering -On

All other settings left at default values. I believe this, along with SweetFX, will get the best visual quality form the game.
