So... been playing PC version a bit. One of my mates got it early and I spent a couple of hours playing it. Just a few of my thoughts of PES 2014 vs the competition :D

Firstly, the modified fox engine is pretty great. Excellent new animations, faces (the ones that are done well) look incredible, shorts, shirt physics are really awesome, cloth physics feel alive like in the nba 2k series (main other sports series I play).

I am primarily an offline player, so focussing on that part of the game - the through balls problem seems to have been abated a bit, players get called offside much more.

Most remarkably though the game 'flows' very well. AI maintains varied attack patterns on Top Player, and in comparison to fifa 14 it doenst feel as if the AI is holding on to the ball for the sake of holding on to the ball. Barca is still I think not perfect tactics-wise but the general ebbs and flow you see in a real football game are all there.

I think with a couple of minor patches the game can be incredible.

It's a bit of a disappointment at the moment to be fair. I hope this data pack puts the crowd in and reduces the lag. It's not my system, I have Alienware and everything's on good.

yes, but visually is not better than nba 2k series which i run on 60fps on max settings, with AF and AA.

I have the same problem
shots on goal, lag, I had to low everything to a minimum, the strangest thing of all is constant 60fps, please any kind of help
and think that this guy has "alienware" and problems!

i also have a gtx 460 (1GB VRAM), but i can't choose a resolution above 1280x720. wtf?

edit: i just created a desktop shortcut of settings.exe, clicked on it and now got all resolutions. seriously: DAFUQ! :D

Is it just me or can we not add any chants, etc in the PC version? I can't find the option at all...

Also pretty disappointed with the graphics. They are obviously sharper than the PS3 but I guess I expected more. There seems to be a lot of lag during replays but it is at a constant 60fps.

The faces are absolutely awful but hopefully this can be fixed.

Fifa for offline gamers is non-existent because of the dumb cpu and teammate AI+lack of attacking variety. Cpu in Fifa series always attacks vertically and tends to hold onto the ball way too much with psychic dribbling.

The 360 demo at this point (before the update on the pc that is supposed to land tomorrow) is better than the retail pc version.

Excuse any piracy talk but I don't know what pc versions people here are playing but I have the full retail and not any d/l one, the lag and no crowd are there. They need to sort this out, my system wanks over every game, it's the code.

Go to your gfx card control panel and enable AA and AF to override game settings. Accurate HD faces and LOD will be available soon after official release via mods and kitserver.

There is no lag in pc retail version. There is only a microstutter in goal replays but no significant lag.
System: ATI6850,q6600,4gb ram.
Settings: 1920x1080, 8xAA supersampling+morpho,16xAF high quality.

Well I wish I didn't have crowd. Stadiums where the crowd is close to the pitch always lag for me (5/10 frames less), I guess some stuff are not properly optimized.

But the game looks fantastic here with the filters on (yes i can enable them and no they're not making a difference on the crowd lag issue), and both collisions and cloth physics are much better than what I've seen of the console versions.

About the gameplay, it asks for so much of you. Every now and then it all clicks and get incredible moments, but often it's hard to dribble and build up play.

I think the passing bar takes too long to load and it's quite hard to get a powerful pass in time. Shooting is awesome on manual but does lack speed as well on assisted.

Tackles are amazing and physical battles are the best on any sports game. Teams and players are completely different, much more than ever before.

Keepers are mostly solid, but they defend the ball into the goal way too many times.

How did you get the PC version in the states already?

I've set my Nvidia CP to the same as what I used for PES2013 and using the same SweetFX config and the game now looks far better.

Anyone worked out if we can assign chants, etc on the PC version?

Might not be your cup of tea though. I have my order in, and it will be released on the 20th. I just emailed them this morning, and asked if they could release it on the 19th, and they said they would see, but couldn't guarantee it.

They emailed me back within 90 minutes, so they seem like a good bunch. Don't know how they got the option to sell the game digitally, but I thanked them for all in the US who get screwed by Konami every year. :)

What i've found compared to pes 13, it runs hell of a lot better and smoother

A single link confirming where North American users can obtain the PC version - physical or digital download. The only things 'official' on the Konami website for us is PS3 or XBOX - possibly they're not even planning on releasing it on PC in NA :(!
