Are you saying the psn version performs better than the retail disc version i bought from shopto ?. If so how can this be ?, do you not get any slowdown in offline mode ?.

As it is at the moment in a two player game offline it's shocking at times, and trying to play an online game is just horrendous with the lag.

I have updated the game to 1.01 and using wenb option file.

It can be because it's running the game from the drive and doesn't have to read a disc. I have it from PSN and it's very smooth as well, the slowdown is almost non-existent, only every great once in awhile.

I always buy my footy game from PSN for this reason - the downside is that you don't have a disc to resell when you're going to buy next year's version but the tradeoff of having the game run smooth and without issue is worth it, to me at least.
 
I've only played online so far but the jury is out for me. There's a lot of things in the game which are impressive but it feels overly slow and unresponsive at times. A lot of goals seem to come from the game undoing me rather any skill from my opponent, eg defenders taking a touch instead of hitting a first time pass when running onto a through ball or a button press being seemingly ignored.

I'll give it a while longer but I can see me trading the game in.

Yeah thats my worry, a big % of goals are simply defensive error rather than skill. I have to keep remembering to hack the ball away asap before an attacker gets onto it.

We'll see in the next month if there's depth to online. At the moment archaic kick and run tactics are rampant, but once people become more comfortable in defence things should settle down. Then we may see some variety in goals etc.

I think the turnover of posession is far too frequent at the moment. The ball almost seems magnetised to players, so interceptions are relentless, especially when it gets congested in the middle. Could do with making the pitch a bit bigger really.

No, I haven't played the retail disc version so I can't compare. All I can report after playing more than 100 games of the UK PSN version on a north american PS3 is that I have experienced no frame-rate/slowdown/stuttering issues. I do have issues concerning response however, involving the keeper and shots inside the penalty area, for example.

yes but what about installing the game disk on the hard drive. That should be the same, no?

Interestingly there are 31 slots for stadiums in PES 2013 including La Bombanera and Prince Abdullah al Faisal Stadium.

Space for 10 more. It seems La Bombarena wasn't quite finished in time along with the other stadium.
 
Lami, could you get across to Adam and whoever else on fixing the gameplay slowdown in and around the box for PS3? This is with 720p enabled and game data installed.
 
hmm i reset everything to default and started the game with 1.01 and the updated data pack 1.0 that's all. guessing from people's responses, frame rate issue on ps3 with pes 2014 is not uncommon? seriously buggy.

ok cause the experience i had was when i installed the wenb option file my game started to get stutters bad lag and the ai was really dumb, as soon as i removed the OF it played really well again
 
how do you remove the of on ps3? just delete everything from save data folder right?

but isn't the general consensus is that there are frame rate issues during gameplay (not just cutscenes) for ps3? seems so in all other forums I've been to.

delete the edit data as well as all the files you copied over think theres around 100 delete them all
 
so you don't use any option files now? you use North London, etc? haha.

after removing, you don't have any stutter in penalty box when it's crowded as well?

Every other issues like def slow down in the box, keepers, player awareness and etc is still there. The only difference is the response time is better or should I say more forgiving. Players do head the ball more constiently compared to PES even when u press the button later. Not sure if its a placebo effect but feels more in control compared to my time on the PC ver. Of cos kits/logos loading is super slow and the stuttering frame rate issue is about the same as the demo. PC have no frame rate issue so I can't compare :)

Japan ver of WE2014 have no release date so I guess they are waiting to fix those issue before they announce the release.

Thanks very much mate. I played both PES and WE demos this time. As always, the WE version was much better. I thought there was closer control of the ball and more weight to the ball and players. These things made the game look more solid and robust than PES. I've ordered WE 2014 (Asia version) from play asia. Hoping to get it ASAP.
 
I don't really need an option file. All I need is correct player and team names (I can edit them myself), club emblems (that I can upload from my PS3 pictures) and kits (can use kit formulae to create, don't want sponsor logos). Might remove the OF and test it out.

On a side note, I find myself playing PES 2014 like FIFA. I'm one of those who didn't rely much on skills/tricks to get the ball into the opponent box, more on build up to exploit opponent spaces. But now all I do to attack is to use R2 to pass a teammate so that the passer run to goal and give him the ball back, this alone feels like FIFA L1 + pass. If I don't do this my strikers won't make any move toward the goal so I can pass them and I haven't pull off Combination play as of yet.

Second, all my goals feels like FIFA except few, very few, how do they feel like FIFA? Yeah its simple, you just score a goal which can't be proud of, you feel nothing at all, you ask yourself if it was you who really scored and you say what the hell at least I won. Any powerful shot is magically blocked by keepers, low shot goes the only way the AI want them to go. Only few I really felt the joy and this is very bad, PES as lost it touch. Gameplay wise everything is cool except the stupid AI which ruin the fun messing with my players to allow COM the ball.

Sometimes I think Konami intended all this messed up, then again sometimes just to feel good about myself I say the game isn't finished yet, wait for patches, wait, wait, still waiting ...

In a nutshell.

It's very hard to improvise. Every attacking play feels very predictable and inevitable. Might be a consequence of the response times, but you can't make split decisions like in previous versions. It's FIFA with an inertia system. It's a decent game but I don't like the direction they've taken it. People are too hung up on the tech to see it's limitations.
 
At last I will never touch any PES before 2014. The game is growing on me, slowly, but every day it's a +3 of love and -1 of hate.

Despite of the flaws, that i hope are very clear by Konami and i hope they will fix them on November.
 
Efficient defence in PES 2014

In short ways you have to defend like in a NBA2K game. Description:

(- defence line is always deep if im not on all attack and i use offside trap)
- if its not neccessary DONT attack the ball carrier by yourself
- always SEND 1 or 2 DEFENDERS(other player) to challenge for the ball, you just hold your position with the player who you play (try to select one NOT FROM THE DEFENCE not to confuse your defence ai by dragging away defenders)

CPU does it better than you, accept it! Try it!
