Played most of this afternoon and loved every game.

This game comes alive when set to champions league mode. It is probably because it's a night. I have been playing in the San siro and retried all of the teams which felt sluggish and they all played so much better. In this mode or at night there is so many more teams that are enjoyable to use.

Had some great games using atletico Madrid and Valencia against French and Italian teams. Top player for Valencia vs Napoli is as good a game as I have for years

I can't put my finger on it but yeah you're right, night games are so much better. The game feels maybe a touch slower I think. The San Siro also has a nice dark pitch and good textures makes the game look much nicer.

I prefer night games as well, but don't think there is real gameplay difference. You just seem to like game more when visuals are more appealing to your eyes.
I don't get why we couldn't have overcast environment, i prefer it most over any other weather in football games.

Thanks for all the input about the game. Glad to see more positives than negatives now. Last question I have is ; does the final game on ps 3 plays like demo or it is worst/better?
I really don't want to download. I like hard copy of my stuff.

Thanks

I´m getting quite happy at Superstar latelly. Game doesn´t feel so unbalanced as in previous versions, but still harder. Anyway, it keeps me really satisfied and until now I still haven´t seen more bugs. Game has quite the same behaviour as in Professional or Top Player. Still need to try it longer though.

Game is far from broken;) Buy it, from the PSN if you can. Game runs silky smooth for me with no stutter. A patch is needed to improve some response issues but even without that, on the field PES 2014 plays a terrific game of football and has no equal. If you want to press a button and sprint willy nilly all over the field and glide past defenders this isn't for you. If online, hoards of licenses and fancy menus is very important to you then I'd shop elsewhere. But, if you want the closest thing to a raw simulation of the beautiful game, this is it. It's hard and you will err. It asks you to relearn some techniques and work for space, possession and victories. It is worth the effort if you love football and are willing to invest. Off the field though it's, well, it's PES...

Bang on the money ...!!

Still laggy on ps3.

However, finally getting manual matches to compensate.

Turned off every assist , zero bars, basic through ball and manual shot. Getting fellow zero bars passers now each time. I have no idea why but if you select Advanced through ball you don't get manual players. Can only guess its because advanced through ball is easier than basic is but with using zero assistance. 4 games in a row kept those settings and its worked.

When using advanced shot and through ball plus auto feint on was never getting anyone on zero bar passing. Can only assume it uses more than just pass assistance to match up and even out assistance this year.

Be interested for anyone else to test this.

Played with some more teams. Had a fantastic game against marseille with Milan. Got beaten 2-0 and they hit the bar.

They scored twice from crosses and hit the bar from set piece. I felt all of these came about from good football and nothing else.

I find dribbling much easier this year. It's very realistic, you see an opening a hesitation and you go. After a while double tap of r1, r2 to dribble about and r3 for players body makes it possible to shimmy through players whilst practically running in a straight line.

Shots from outside the box need much longer on the shoot button that ever before.

I love how the cross indicator on corners curves more one way than the other dependant on the players foot. Just noticed it tonight.

Have you tried playing on champions league mode?

Does anyone have issues heading the ball to try and score a goal with manual shooting on the ps3. My striker does absolutely nothing. It's frustrating as the rest of my experience is excellent with the game

Anyone with WE2014 being able confirm that it's better than PES2014?

If you own or play WE2014, can you please share with us your experience and possible differences from PES2014?

I am almost at the end of the first season on ML with one of the fake D2 teams (Ganzoraccio, I always play with them).

At the beginning of the season, for more or less 15 matches I played on superstar level, but I had to change it cause I could barely win only 2 matches. On professional I am winning some more matches but I seem to not enjoy this game at all. I never really feel that whats happening on the field depends on me. There is too many times the feeling that the CPU already decides when its time for a goal or even worse when its time for you to win a match or lose it.
One of the things I really am angry with its the ability of every single CPU time to exploit always the same throug ball goal, over and over. Even on professional I can finish a single match without getting the CPU to score at least a goal. I could deal with it if with Ganzoraccio I was trying to play in La Liga. But other teams I am facing are as crappy as mine.

I have the feeling that again, after pes 2012, I will be selling back my ps3 copy of pes. Both 2012 and 2014 version give me the feeling of no control. A lot of people here says that things get better when you use better teams but for me this is something unacceptable. Do I really have to use Milan or Barca or whatever to play a decent football match? I am not saying that I want to see players of Ganzoraccio play like Real Madrid against Galatasaray. But at same time I expect that the CPU crappy teams play as bad as my team does.

Next thing that really bothers me. Where is the Master League? This is not a joke, my question is real. What they gave us this year is just a league mode with the possibility of buying players. Why did they remove every single managerial aspect? Couldnt they just remove cutscenes? I am not saying that I want the same depth of a Football Manager game, but at least I want the depth of FIFA (And no, I am not a FIFA fanboy, last FIFA i bought was FIFA 99 for psx).
The problem is even bigger on BAL. No feeling at all that I playing a football carrier. Specially on the first season all you do is press the "Advance" button over and over till finally you have chance to play a match. Seriously, this is what I should
enjoy? A series of endless "Advance" button smashing.
I can deal with the logos taking ages to load (PS3 is not quite old and the fox engine takes a lot of power), I can deal with the fact we have a great editor that its useless cause everytime KONAMI releases a new DLC with transfers, everysingle thing we edit gets lost (its like to have the possibility to have sex with the woman of your dreams, but the day after you will forget everything you did with her).
I am trying my best to enjoy this game, I really want to enjoy it, cause the potential is here. I love the fact we have so many fake leagues to edit (but I hate there are a lot of fake hidden teams we cant touch, cause its a pain in the ass to qualify for champions league and play against the MIGHTY Byserwash or whatever its their name) but I really cant get used to the gameplay.

Am I saying that other are wrong when they say the can enjoy the game? NO
Am I trying to make others not enjoy it? No
Am I thinking that old ps2 games are better in term of gameplay? NO
Am I hoping that others will respect my opinion and wont say obvious things like "you must play it the way it is supposed to play" YES
Because a game must be played the way you like, and must give you equal chances to win or lose without forcing you to play it in a certain way, otherwise its useless to give us chances to change tactics and formations.

Well, I think I summarized my opinion about the game. There are other things I could add but for now my mind is just angry about the game, so its hard to think properly.
Happy gaming to all of you that are enjoying PES2014 and please forgive me if I envie your enjoyment

What difficulty are you playing on?

I'm loving this new Manual Offside and Drop Back option, works a treat. Rewards your reading of the game.

For those who don't use it....

Double Tap D-Pad to the half your attacking (away from your goal, basically forward) to spring your own offside trap. Great against both human and CPU Ai as a deterrent for the Through-Ball Pass.

Auto Offside in Tactical Assistance does the job for the most part, but not as deliberate as the Manual option.

I like it too.

And you can even hold the D-Pad for a while to shift your defensive line higher or deeper. Double Tap D-Pad is the offside trap - holding the D-Pad allows you to place you defensive line as high or deep as you like.

Im enjoying Superstar, I'm struggling but it feels like a different game. That sense of urgency and difficulty in forcing a goal is back, to me it feels missing in the other difficulties but Superstar really makes you feel like you've got a goal the hard way.

The COM just scored an outrageously good goal against me, first time I've ever saved a replay scored against me. A ball was headed to a Lorient player who hooked a high volleyed lob into the sky and up and over the keeper from about 40 yards. Amazing goal.

Quick question, what do people have their front line pressure set to? I was experimenting by putting the sliders to their extremes, to see what they did, and found setting it to zero made the game much more of a midfield stalemate, which I much prefer over end to end attacks.

Me too. Set it at 10 to 12. If you really want midfield battles over box-to-box stuff the slider you should be playing around with is the 'shift to attack' one. When this is set to a low number, it will be a measured slow build up game. Try it out and let me know.

I think Super Star is not broken. Sometime it is easy, sometime it can be really challenging. But it really depend on team strength. I'm playing ML, one moment i won 3-0, then i lost 0-5 to slightly stronger team.

Maybe the motivation play a factor too. Usually when i'm behind by 2 or 3 goals my player feel weak. It's almost like they suffer from light injury back in old PES days. I think it's just simply a stats boost or drop depend on the result.

I'm playing WE2014 (Asian ver) on PS3. i don't have PES on PS3 but i do have PES on PC. On comparison PC response time is slightly slower than WE. Also shooting in WE seems to be slightly more powerful and less floaty on normal condition. The headings and double X tackle is more responsive and u can deft touch dribble better without much lag.

Every other issues like def slow down in the box, keepers, player awareness and etc is still there. The only difference is the response time is better or should I say more forgiving. Players do head the ball more constiently compared to PES even when u press the button later. Not sure if its a placebo effect but feels more in control compared to my time on the PC ver. Of cos kits/logos loading is super slow and the stuttering frame rate issue is about the same as the demo. PC have no frame rate issue so I can't compare :)

Japan ver of WE2014 have no release date so I guess they are waiting to fix those issue before they announce the release.

Despite some heavy negative feedback and my own mixed emotions on the demo I'm finally gonna buy my copy tomorrow. 10 minute matches F YEAH!!

Servers seem really stable now. Just had 5 or so games without any lag whatsoever.

If you set your Attack/Defence Level and Defensive Line to 5, you'll be laughing online. Piece of piss to sweep of any through ball, leaving you with an abundance of space. Still feels more of an arcade game, but it's fun if you like taking Bayern fanboys down a peg.
