Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I hope you like it. To me PES offers a little bit more depth in terms of tactics and offers a different experience than Fifa, and I'm sure you will like both.

In PES, the use of the right stick is something revolutionary and probably the best thing in PES in a decade, I don't know why people doesn't talk more about it. I use it constantly to push, dribble, move, etc...

Another possible problem at long term may be the high precision of passing you can achieve with all teams and players in certain situations: like swapping play from one sideback to the other one, which is always succesful and not enough dependant on long passing stats.

But compared to previous years it's a big improvement. I know you liked PES2011 and play single player mostly, and I think this one is similar in terms of balance and I love playing 2vsCPU, something you can do with your children and enjoy a lot.

There's the feeling of string some passes and create a great looking teamplay, which is the best you can take out of PES.

It felt more responsive than the demo, but as I say, I was using Barcelona that may be one of the best teams in terms of responsiveness/dribbling so it's hard to know for sure. Messi and Neymar can easily skin defenders and move very lightly, but I doubt I could do the same with Villarreal. I'll try different teams tonight and see how it goes.

Anyway, I don't think demo was unresponsive in terms of dribbling, moving at all. Once you master how to move, dribble and you master the use of short burst of speed and control the pace of the player, the game opens up a lot. As I said, focus first on learning the R1 and Right Stick, which are the key elements of the 1vs1 gameplay. I really don't think they should improve responsiveness as it would turn the game into a dribbling fest.

Installing the game to the HD is a must, totally recomend it to have much shorter loading times and overall performance.

Thanks for the mini-review.

Have you had much chance to try out long range shooting? I've seen some talk of 'keepers being unbeatable from long range.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Next couple of days are going to be torture, in a 1st world problem sort of way. I need this game now.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Got the game yesterday and had time to play 3-4 matches. I took Barcelona as I always do in my first matches, and found it much easier than the demo in Top Player difficulty, scoring an average of 2-3 goals per match (10 mins settings).

But it can be due to having great players with great dirbbling and reaction stats. Messi Neymar and Iniesta feel godly in the game, specially Messi (which is realistic anyway).

So, hard to say if it has changed much from the demo. Will try later today with "demo" teams, but the first impressions are the game is as good as expected, it lacks a lot of polishing in some areas and specially they need to improve dramatically the awareness and sense of urgency of players in the box. Goalkeepers still need serious work.

Other than that, the game seems to me the best possible foundation for excellent games to come.

I have the full game too. Exhibition matches seems easier to win, especially with top teams, but when you start competition games it is something else. It is way more challenging especially when you play with manual controls. The thing that I like the most is the fact that the CPU share high percentage of possession too making the whole experience authentic, fair and rewarding.

I tend to play football games as a RPG, making the teams play like they do in real life, so I didn't shoot from long range at all, except with Cesc now and then.

But if I shoot from just the line of the box with Messi and charge the shot and he's balanced, I can score quite often. Shooting from more distance doesn't seem to be very effective, which is good, but...

To me the problem of long range shooting is that it's too accurate and too many shots will go on target, that's why they probably increased the ability of goalkeepers to save them. I would prefer long shots to go wildly out of target mostly, and reduce the ability of goalkeepers to save them. Never understood why on earth PES makes shots so "on target", it undermines the freedom of play they're looking for.

Do you play with manual shooting on?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

In many ways it's the same message as last year, then, despite sea-change in a lot of areas: PES 2014 is a methodical sports game with deep systems that reward practice and experimentation; the sort of game that will appeal to people who read Zonal Marking rather than Sun Sport.

Perfect analogy from the Eurogamer review.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Get ready for bad reviews, especially on Metacritic.

FIFA players are going to bash the competition like no hell. If you see a user score that's below average, you can bet your sweet bum that it was FIFA players.

Of course, same goes for PES players who bash FIFA's user average.

Reviews don't mean jack.

Yeah it'll happen. Not shouting conspiracy but most places can't review sports games at all. Hell, most places can't review games well at all :SMUG:

That Eurogamer review maintained a fantastic balance between personal and descriptive. Most reviews concentrate on the spectacle and systems.

Reviews might not mean jack and nobody knows reviewers by name but Tom Bramwell is one of the best writers in the industry. Eurogamer do have a habit of over-rating games but it's a really written review regardless.

solution to lag at certain times of the game.
I tell my experience
I have a Radeon 4670 1GB, the game works perfectly constant 60fps on a 1280x1024 resolution, but at times the game seems it gets a little slow, it's only 1 second or even less, but remains constant 60fps.

for users of ATI RADEON PRO tool use, force vsync, enable all cores and play high priority

Ppl asking about patch 1.01, improves responsiveness, shooting and general feel. Very nice reaction to community feedback from demo #PES2014

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Good review. I'd be skeptical though if I hadn't already played the demos, as his review of PES 2013, which was the sixth poor game in a row from Konami, was off the mark.

I like to put my foot on the ball with the right shoulder button to slow play down and shield possession, and then use the right thumbstick in combination with the left to do little feints and shimmies to create space for a pass, while noticeably smarter team-mates buzz around between the lines looking for pockets to operate in.

I love the sound of that - does the AI do that as well? Does the AI put its foot on the ball, slow things down and consider its play?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

QUESTION

anyone know how to use hand full control? I removed all aid to use yet still owe full touch button Control L2

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Do Gamespot/IGN review actually mean anything? Seems they always give the bigger games higher scores regardless of whether they deserve them or not...

Well check pes 2013 review by gamespot, same person reviewed it and rated it an 8 so, that kind of tells all i need to know..

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

The other game wil always get better reviews.
The wont see beyone the fact that Bale is still at Spurs. (Which is kind of annoying)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

OK .. let's get back into the topic PES 2014, shall we ? :APPLAUD:

Will there be any brawl when a player got tackled?

From the demo, I have not seen any fighting/brawl scene happening.

I have. Predictably it was Ronaldo at the centre of it (Xbox demo)

I haven't heard the old "And it's back to the old argument about referees having never played the game at this level" yet.

That's been in since 2010.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

@wusimu2: that is great, thanks for posting that. it's good to know that the feature is still there and not to mention the "players complaining to the referee" after the match, is an additional feature which makes PES 2014 more realistic. Good stuff!

Yh for real, this game in terms of passage of play is shaping out to be one hell of a game. And if they keep adding details to make the experience that much better, then am all thumbs up for it :APPLAUD:

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

what the heck 6/10?eurogamer 9/10, what's going on???? and saying that the core mechanics are still the same? i hope gamespot reviewer is so wrong because i dont want to ruin the dream...

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Ign have given 8.4 /10, which I think is fair enough. It praises the changes but marks it down because of dated presentation and dated ML. Fair enough, really.
