HA, I started with International Soccer on the C64 cartridge!! Best retro game was Anco's Super Kick Off. Or Sega's European Club Soccer (anyway I digress)

One little thing I noticed, in the demo when playing Bayern in the Allianz, the crowd mosaic is plain red, and not the display shown in the background shots. Is it the same in retail (are the "tifo's" basically one plain colour?) I was looking forward to seeing United's "BELIEVE" at Old Trafford.

Modern football is crap!

But Sky Sports say it's there best because they want you to BUY into their product.

Football is almost like Watching a bad TV soap opera with movie like promos and fast paced hype videos thrown in your face every five minutes.

A decent goal these days is now 'WHAT A GOAL, WHAT A STRIKE, WHAT A TACKLE. All designed to hype you up constantly so you buy into the 'product'.

21, been on this forum since 2005 (mainly a lurker but a very active one). Wasted so much of my youth on WE/PES and will probably keep on doing so. Really miss the good' old days on PS1 with Japanese commentary and fake player names. Roberto Larcos FTW!

Tbh apart from the texture details, that amazing grass and the cool lighting effects, I still don't see this game having those requirements :p Might be because I'm so used to the PC version making the game look so good :)

Not saying I expect being able to run it more than minimum though, but that's because of the physics stuff :p

Sells body..... 6 weeks later....... has enough money for 'PS1 in need of repair, useful for spare parts" on eBay........ now violated and still high-end pc-less.

i´m 27, borrowed PES4 from my girlfriends brother... i never touched fifa again since. waiting for the PC version of new PES...

Well i just got my 360 copy. I don't know if it's me, the difficulty or what, but i'm struggling with 1 bar passing. And i cannot decide wether use -1, 0 or +1 speed. Any thoughts?

the passing is definitely alot freer than the demo. I struggled with it at first but got into it eventually. I actually like the default speed, its slower than the demo but just as responsive.

And what is in it ? Is it a combined gameplay and data patch with additional faces and who knows a couple of generic stadiums ?

I am about to turn 34 in fourteen days time. I've been playing football games since Sensible Soccer but there has always been something about PES that appealed to me.

Perhaps it was the way I like to play the game, pass and move, pass and move and the tactical side of things.

And also the editing required and research that was allied to that.

I think PES2014 is the basis for PES returning to the top and will remain a popular base for 3-4 years of improvement.

Who knows what we will be playing in twenty years with the advances in computing power and display systems. True 3 dimensional holographic figures running in three dimensional recreations of stadiums.

It isn't all that far fetched.

Well, I didn't expect my post about my age would set off this stream of confessions. Lovely to read. I don't think it's a coincidence that it is PES2014 that triggers these stories. For the first time in years we PES-fans, regardless of which generation we're from, have felt PES again.
We shouldn't be surprised and certainly not embarrassed about playing a game (and editing it intensively, putting ourselves and our friends in a fantasy team). People like me form the first generation of videogamers. What we did not know then, we know now: good videogames aren't mere toys. Good videogames turned out to be among those things you discover when you're a young adult and continue to play until God knows when, like reading Philip Roth, listening to Pink Floyd/U2/Nirvana, praying your football team will win on sunday, and some other stuff I will not mention here (in fear of setting of another, much more uncomfortable, stream here..)
Every beautiful thing that is made by man, makes me smile a little.

Well, back to the now: mouthwatering, those pc-screens!

I just remembered I played Kevin Keegan's player manager for a long time on the SNES.

I always played the matches myself. So it was a sort of Master League.

I see your International Soccer on c64 and raise you 'Superior Soccer' on.... the Acorn Electron. :D I took that s.o.b back to the shop five (5) times before I got a working copy...

The PC version of PES 14 though... Jesus bloomin' Christ!!! It looks like a real football match!

I did not try beard but moustache and, hey, Valderrama is back!!

And facial editing is hard. I tried to make a Banega face and i gave up. I think it has a lot of potential, thou.

After three matches (Two defeats and one draw) i think i'm starting to get it. In one month i've had to learn how to play PES three times!!!

Tactics are fundamental. If you try to play in a way that you did not specified in the tactic's screen you are going to generate chaos in your team and the ai will not respond to your actions in a way that it should.

Finally, i'm loving the d-pad feature when defending. It gives an control over all the d-line.:BRMM:

So... anybody downloaded the DLC yet?.
I'm doubtful whether or not to try? Do you think they would ban me if I insert my online pass now (since the game is not actually out there)?. I'm on PS3.

Actually I think that defending is too easy this time by double tapping "A" or "X" on PS3, at least on my experience against the CPU. I have only played on professional though. Most of the time i am able to dispossess the CPU by doing this and hardly get any fouls called. I actually hope they will fix this with a patch.
