Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Question for the lads with the retail game ;

Can you tell if the usual classic teams can be unlocked? I heard there's European legends and ROW legend teams and I fear that they're in to replace the individual nations.

Cheers

Na mate. There is only a World and Euro team. That doesn't even include the main legends like Pele, Maradona, Gullit, Cruyff, etc.

You don't seem to have problems with floaty shooting at all going by your streams.

Is it because you're using manual shooting? Does manual shooting take into context player stats or is it only your own ability?

player stats make a difference

I'd argue, much like Zero Passing, that the stats are at their most prominent.

The theory being, there is a much lower scope for error with the top players. As a consequence, lesser players margin for error is higher and a lot less forgiving, Even if the technical fundamentals are in place.

Alternatively, the top-of-the-food chain players can be afforded instances when they will succeed, even with all the basic fundamentals not fully adhered in the 'Text-Book' fashion.

It's the differencial between average and great strikers that ensures such diverse prominence.

Manual shooting is the way forward. Assisted shooting is an even more dumbed down version in PES14 then PES13.

The reason assisted shots seem floaty is because the AI does all the work for you, it seems to calculate the easiest way you might score and a weak place or 'floaty' shot is often the result (placed shots tend to go in more). Obviously they don't always go in, but whether it goes in or not it generally looks absolutely terrible and you are pretty much in control of nothing with assisted shot other than pressing the square button for the command to shoot. In PES 14 the work almost stops there in terms of user input.

some of the finishes I was doing with neymar for example would of not been done with a lesser player

there was a contextual touch before my shot which was a controlled shot into the corner. was very nice.

it is on one of the recordings somewhere. that would not of happened with someone lesser than him. the shot would of been hit without the touch I think and gone wide :P

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

After 3 days with ps3 retail and many matches using different teams here are my initial impressions:
- Game is meant to be played on -1 game speed. The pace and flow is great and the animations seem more fluid on this speed.
- Cpu AI build up is very good. I saw many backpasses to the keeper by cpu, scripted through balls are gone for good at last.
- Fouls commited by cpu are not many at first but once you master the RT (or RB button by default) combined with the sudden move of LS, cpu will commit fouls frequently.
- Goalkeepers are solid. After 20+ matches I have not seen a major mistake by any of them. All games I have played are 15mins and 20mins. This means I saw plenty encounters in the box.
- Advanced shooting is a no-no, absolutely flawed because it seems it does not rely on player stats and you see the same shooting mechanic/result in all the four directions you can aim. Basic and manual result to more varied shooting. I am for now using basic in most games. I haven't seen yet a floaty shot because I figured how the whole thing works : Momentum/speed/ball distance from the foot/strong foot and ofc individual player stats.
- Superstar difficulty is unplayable for me. It seems that cpu AI code is broken with this difficulty making the game easier. So I recommend sticking with professional and top player difficulties until we have official word about this issue from KONAMI.
- Left button of d-pad is a must when defending.
- Manual passing is not easy-to-use and for sure feels more free than last year.
- Advanced through passing is good and difficult. Basic is great too. I saw some posts by fellow members here complaining about through ball exploit and that is very easy to break down the cpu defense with it. This is for sure not happening here. It happened on superstar difficulty sometimes but as I mentioned earlier there is a problem with this difficulty.
This is so far the best football videogame ever created. I am waiting for my pc copy to arrive too. Afaik pc was the lead platform this year so pc users are in for a treat for sure.

ive been playing the xbox version all day and i have to disagree about the keepers, they are terrible, lots and lots of goals scored from goalkeeper errors rebounding straight to the striker, after 6 or 7 years of turning to fifa after playing pro evo for years this looks like a fantastic game so far but ruined by the keepers. i hope there is a way they can sort this out :(

maybe try a higher difficulty? I don't know what level you're playing but it could make a difference. enjoy!:))

If Gk's are (ridiculously) bad, they're usually blue or purple form..

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Just started ML today. After literally spending hours hunting for players to play in my D2 Asian team, I finally played my first friendly game. Lost 1-6. My goal came in the 90+ min. It was the best. No bias :SMUG:

Can you please inform us about the international matches date in the calendar? Wither it's one day before the league match or not?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Anyone remember on PES 2013 and before once you watched the replay of a goal you used to see a slow motion replay of the celebration, it is something Sky do.

I have not seen it in the demo of PES 2014 has anyone seen it in the retail game?
