Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Bitter would probably give you the most accurate feedback, but the game is much better overall, animations are not missing frames, there's less framerate issues, keepers are yet to make a blunder, players feel better on control, AI is much more competent.

Watch his stream, best advice I can give you.

So are that 360 version is more advanced?
Because i have 360 :))
Anyway i don't think KONAMI would make such a different game on two different consoles

Graphics, animations and framerate maybe, but AI and player control?

I've been looking over bitters stream and i have isolated the issues with Top Player and especially Superstar and the issue defensively in general.

Player runs. The balance isn't correctly set to deal with attacking runs.

Defensives are being too early pulled out of position anytime attackers make aggressive runs or any sort of defensive line breaking move. It pulls the Defensive Back Four apart.

Looking at even the Bale goal where he nutmegs Sagna, the focus was on Scezeny spilling the shot, but the issue was Mertersacker and Vermaelen being pulled all over the place by runs.

The programming is there. Even with the responsiveness seemingly to be ok now, along with general player awareness which seems stable the Defensive line isn't balanced to work together enough.

Konami where able to effectively do this on PES 2013 really, really well, this in theory should be sorted without any issues, it's there because like i've been saying for a while now. This isn't PES on the PS2, PES 2009 or even PES 2013 where Konami have had a long time to tweak the game, they themselves are still getting to know the depth and balance and things like this are to be expected.

The best thing we can do is properly investigate the cause and effect of each problem and state what can and has been done. Just shouting abuse and moaning 'Defensive AI is all broken' I don't feel right, helps nobody.

My opinion: no feedback about the final game based on two-three days of gaming.

Otherwise there's the risk they tweak the wrong things to accomodate to feedback. It already happened

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Are the many 'manual' control PES players ?

I'm making the switch from 'the other football game' where there were a large number of 'manual' players but I struggled to get matched up with players with similar controller settings on PES 2013 when I tried.

There are quite a lot mate, but the matchmaking settings aren't brilliant and expect the same from PES14.

You can always get a manual game if you wait long enough (it was quick at the start of PES13 release but got slower and slower) and as long as you don't mind being rated against an opponent of any level. It does create some mismatches to be honest.

The other problem is passing is the only filter and 1 in 3 you come up against will use assisted shot, which IMO is against the spirit of manual controls. It means your block list for matchups gets full very quickly!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

well...why would it? L1 is for 1-2s. There's nothing in the game to suggest it has any influence on dribbling.

I'd still like to see some convincing examples of left-stick dribbling. If I knew it was attainable given practice I'd be more optimistic, but I've not seen any evidence of effective weighted feints to beat players without use of the trick-stick.

As I've said before, the touches are just far too close to the body to make turns decisive enough to leave defenders for dead.

I know it sounds weird and placebo but I noticed L1 helps in avoiding the opposing player take the ball... Something like if you shield the ball when dribbling and even when sprinting...

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

can anybody tell me how to do knucle shot i cant press shoot button twice it only fills the bar once unlike pes 2013 where you could press shoot button two or three times and it used to fill the power bar each time..in pes 2014 irrespective of how many times you press shoot button it fills only once

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

LOL bullshit you have the PC version your box says something like example only its a pre order box he stole off a shelf

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Anyone have the PES 2014 PC Version?

Can't believe that no one have the PC Version :o

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

The games fantastic, shootings sublime in the manual settings and the game as a whole is super refined and polished.

We finally have total control and the ball is easy to hold up protect anywhere on the pitch.

This isn't hyperbole, even the cursor switching is nailed.

While pes2014 may be light in the area of stadia and licenses,on the pitch the glass is full.

While I can't wouch for the ps3 version, the xbox360 version albeit a tiny dip in framerate on occasion is super smooth.

You don't use l1 for dribbling, dribbling is context sensitive on the left stick and you use r2 to angle your body and shift your weight with the left stick..r1 gives you bursts of speed.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

There's no glaring holes and there no shocks coming..they've managed to hit a whole in one in one game,pes2014 isn't a work in progress...it's leap frogged any other footie game to date in one year...

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Really getting to grips with demo 2 now and looking forward to full game popping through my door this week. Two questions on play though:

1. When playing a long ball forward (like from a goal kick), how do you get your forwards challenging for headers or attempting the hold the ball up? The defender always seems to win it.

2. Does the dynamic through-ball really have any major advantages over the auto version? I'm not seeing great results using the auto.

Cheers!

I understand your sentiment.

I feel what I have observed is pretty conclusive, it happens in more or less every match without fail. Due tot he heightened responsiveness, this is just another stage for Konami to observe this and tweak it accordingly.

Tweak in Progress is probably the best way to put it.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

One thing I also love is crossing on manual and the way we can finally control the tempo with are play.

I never feel cheated and defending is a art form and light years ahead of anything else as is the game.

You can always battle for the ball and everything just feels so balanced.

What are the tell tale signs of a player using assisted shooting? I ran a PS3 manual league for the other football game but the manual setting was across the board so everything was equal, you couldn't 'cheat' as it were and adjust/change individual settings.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I've been playing the demo for around 10+hours. I'm really liking it so far:APPLAUD:, however, the only negatives about the demo I've noticed so far are:

Player Awareness
- In defensive end. A lot of passes just roll past my defenders while they just watch it go by(the speed of the pass is not the issue)

- My defenders seem to stop once the attacker gets the ball and before they start running the attacker is long gone.
- Scrambles inside the 18 yard box are a lottery, defenders show no urgency to shut the attacker down.

Responsive issues
lack of first time passes/Headers/shots. Again in the defensive area, trying to clear a ball or head it away.

Goalkeepers - At first they were great pulling off some spectacular saves and parries but, as time past by the worse the keepers were becoming. Far too many goals were being conceded from easily savable shots, knocking the ball into the goal from a weak shot.. the list can go on and on...

Referee's - they are a lucky dip, don't know what your going to get. there have been clear fouls against me that have been let go, but when I make the exact same challenge I get pulled up on it and even cop a yellow:RANT:.

Commentary - as per usual
Crowd sfx - While it does sound better then previous versions, It's still in need of an update (new chants please)

All that seems fixable. It's good to see Konami finally heading down the right path...it's only taken 7 years to get here.

I hope waiting until next year to release a Next-Gen PES they will not repeat the same mistakes and take another 7 years to get it right.

Well it was incredibly easy to tell on PES13 if manual shooting was being using, the power bar was yellow instead of blue.

The absolutely crazy thing is that has now changed in PES 14, it's a normal blue power bar even for manual shots.

It's another absolutely astonishing move from Konami, how to make the same slightly worse for no reason whatsoever!

It means online will get messy I would imagine on manual controls and probably end up in a lot of arguments with people who clearly are using assisted but actually claim they are using manual.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I think it's possible to recreate THAT Ronaldinho goal vs Chelsea.

I'm starting to understand the dribbling, reminds me of PES 2011.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Wanted to ask someone who has a full version, do AI players still try to keep the ball and build up their play slowly, if you set them on Posession football strategy? It was pretty obvious in first videos, making me very happy, but in recent ones I don't see it so much. I hope it's still there, because that bloody lighting-fast-direct football from the AI, no matter how you set your tactic sliders, for me was one of the biggest gamebreakers in PES 2013.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

PPL complaining about the demo, HAVE YOU WATCHED any of Bitter's recent streams? Responsiveness and player awareness has been fixed. What is wrong w/ you ppl? lol... The game is out for many ppl. What is the point in complaining about the 2nd demo when its clear to see that the issues are resolved?
