Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

You mean R2, the same button used for control shots? :)
As standard that is the one used for the Deft Touch dribbling (where your player will face the goal and move laterally). L1 is the standard button used for selecting what player to control, and holding it will allow for 1-2 passing aswell as lobbed shots and early crossing.

I suppose you may be playing with a modified control scheme which would explain things. :)

 Yes I am. Sorry about that and the confusion.

Are you kidding? on no assist, you can barely steer the ball where you want it.

This pic was captured from what version ? PC ?

Fox Engine will do wonders on nextgen. Future is bright.

Much easier manual passing is now for me.

It is definitely different to PES 13, so it will probably just take time from everyone to adjust as to how they use manual passing and time to get used to it. I suppose that's the beauty of manual passing we all have different styles so it's not going to suit everyone straight away.

El shaarawy looks like CGI, his body movements are so natural it's hard to believe they're from the same dimension as everyone else.

In Pes 2013 pass with L2 was much different to 0 assist pass and now in Pes 2014 0 assist passes and L2 passes seem the same(in demo 2).

Last year L2 pass was the only free passing system. That's why some people taped L2 button down but actually it was quite easy to learn to do it with every pass.

Dribbling this year with both sticks looks the most interesting thing to learn. How deep it is we'll see after months of playing but now it feels one of the best new innovations.

Whenever I try and convince my friends that player ID is the way forward he's exactly the player I refer to, it's unreal

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

well...why would it? L1 is for 1-2s. There's nothing in the game to suggest it has any influence on dribbling.

I'd still like to see some convincing examples of left-stick dribbling. If I knew it was attainable given practice I'd be more optimistic, but I've not seen any evidence of effective weighted feints to beat players without use of the trick-stick.

As I've said before, the touches are just far too close to the body to make turns decisive enough to leave defenders for dead.

I had to go to the training tutorial to try to suss it out.

You don't have to use the trick stick, you have to vary it with holding R1 or a quick R1 tap to change speed, and slow down without R1. The default dribble speed is now the old R2 slow dribble.

Again you don't have to but you can occasionally add a right stick up or down stepover and maybe a change of direction as well.

It is odd as 2013's contextual dribbling was very good also, allowing you to really place your feet with stick movements.

They're both good in their own ways, though 2014's method is definitely harder. Not sure if its better than 2013's though.

It's not the game mechanics or gameplay i struggle with. In total i like most of the changes coming along with new Engineering. A lot of past issues are gone and i like how game looks, but the response is terrible as hell and nothing i will ever get used to. Destroys the joy for this game totally for me. Maybe this will be fixed with a patch...

download WE2014 demo and see the difference. Much better than euro demo.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Any of the Australians on here know why the release date for Australia appears to have been shifted from 26 Sept to 3 October?
Just checked EB Games and JB Hifi and they both say 3 October now when previously they said 26 September. This is a bit weird considering that we usually get the game the same day as European release (for as long as I have been living here any way).

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

PS3 demo: Think I'll stop playing it now and wait for the PC version. Watching Bitter's streams, the Xbox version definitely looks less 'awkward' than the PS3 demo. Fingers crossed!

So far I've found manual passing easier than previous years. Can't explain it, but 1-bar felt too 'assisted'.

Through-balls are a concern. I'd like to try a manual through-ball option. Also, whilst manual shooting is seemingly broken in the demo, advanced shooting is exploitable. I can drop the ball over the keeper from just outside the box with some regularity. Hope they catch this.

PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Been said before but some of the faces are madness.

Enjoyed a few games this morning. Haven't played it since Thursday.

There are a few annoyances. I can't seem to lash the ball into the net from 6 yards.

Agree with the poster who said the lofted through ball seems to find your ultra fast forward wherever he is on the pitch.

I just need to learn how to do all the flicks and skills cos the way I'm playing at the moment all feels a bit stiff.

Is it just me or do night games player better than day games?

Bayern are a joy to play with.

Interesting to find another person as well finding manual passing too easy. In a way I hope it's a good thing, as it's not so easy that it's pointless calling it manual, but it might be easy enough to encourage others to try it and build a bigger pool of manual games. I'd sacrifice it being a bit easier for a quicker match up. Although I fear the matchmaking will be just based on pass assistance again this year and you'll get the usual assisted shooters ruining Master League Online 0 bar match-ups.

My mate also said he'd score that way a lot in the demo with advanced shooting, a definite loophole that needs fixing.

A bit like the few of us who have worked out how to score direct from corners maybe 20-25% of the time. The problem being even if the ball doesn't curl straight in, you'll almost certainly just get another corner. Hopefully the dots are off online, or it'll be chaos.

Here's something interesting:

Nice to se PC version out sell, out preordering the Xbox360 . Now konami will decide that this is due to the lack of PC demo and next year there will be no demo for all platforms .

Good points concerning online. I would have preferred a full manual or full assisted split rather than the passing/through-ball/shoot options. It would simplify and even-out the online games.

Let's see how they implement filtering this year. I played PES2013 online a lot and rarely got a game with pass restriction on manual. About 8 in every 10 games was vs a spammy kid using Real Madrid.

Though I did develop counter-strategies over time, it's still annoying when Ronaldo knocks-in 3 improbable goals in one game (where I had 70% possession). *sigh*

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Is it the Kick-Off bug still in the full version, which can be a time to try?
Because in the demo can just run through and score a goal kick when, even on superstar ..

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Are the many 'manual' control PES players ?

I'm making the switch from 'the other football game' where there were a large number of 'manual' players but I struggled to get matched up with players with similar controller settings on PES 2013 when I tried.
