Yep, I've done alot of testing and moving using L1 or not has no discernible difference in time between touches, how close the player keeps the ball, how they turn or move. The Placebo effect strikes again. Controlled testing in the training mode will usually illustrate this the best.

No-one seems to want to confirm but I keep reading that the PS3 graphics on retail are worse than the demo. Don't know if this is BS or not, but Konami clearly don't get on with th PS3.

I wouldn't be surprised as there is stuttering in the ps3 demo so they may have needed to scale stuff back

I would say yes. Not dramatically, but I feel it's been downgraded, specially on far cameras or some cinematics. In the entrance cinematics the players further away are just a pixel.

I think Konami does this on purpose to add some randomness to the matches. To get that feeling of "there are no 2 similar matches" or something like that. And if I remember correctly, it's been in previous PES as well.

The gameplay in that stream is the best I have ever seen on any virtual football game. It's shocking! Those who know who know me as Barcamanmessi know that I was a longtime fan of the other game and even made snide remarks at PES players. I have matured and finally seen that PES is the more esoteric and thought-driven game.

well...why would it? L1 is for 1-2s. There's nothing in the game to suggest it has any influence on dribbling.

I'd still like to see some convincing examples of left-stick dribbling. If I knew it was attainable given practice I'd be more optimistic, but I've not seen any evidence of effective weighted feints to beat players without use of the trick-stick.

As I've said before, the touches are just far too close to the body to make turns decisive enough to leave defenders for dead.

You should of been watching yesterday mate, there was loads, the ball even went through the keepers chest at one point.

I was, I've been moderating it actually. He was playing on the PS3 yesterday and Bitter himself was disappointed. The 360 version however is a completely different story.

So you mean to tell me that when yo press the L1 button (special controls or something) your player doesn't stop and turn and then use close control to roll the ball under his feet when you move the left stick back and forth, then if you let go of L1 he'll turn and roll away from the defender, if you do it right? What bloody game am I playing here:CONF::LOL:

Bitter would probably give you the most accurate feedback, but the game is much better overall, animations are not missing frames, there's less framerate issues, keepers are yet to make a blunder, players feel better on control, AI is much more competent.

Watch his stream, best advice I can give you.

You mean R2, the same button used for control shots? :)
As standard that is the one used for the Deft Touch dribbling (where your player will face the goal and move laterally). L1 is the standard button used for selecting what player to control, and holding it will allow for 1-2 passing aswell as lobbed shots and early crossing.

I suppose you may be playing with a modified control scheme which would explain things. :)

I think it has way too much user input, I make some wrong passes that would never miss in PES 2013. It's a bit too hard. I was playing good with manual passing on the leaked demo tho.

After getting a bit annoyed with these silly mistakes I decided to change to +1 bar, but the game became a bit fast compared to what I'm used to.

If manual passing keeps the same level of dificulty in the full version, I'll be playing with 1 bar but I'll mostly likely change the gamespeed to -1. It should be fine for me.

Sorry Lami I didn't see your post from earlier :)

I'm using basic through-balls, I don't like the new advanced method so far. Main problem is defenders off the ball not tracking forward runs and if you send someone on a run yourself, the ball almost defaults to them when you loft the through ball over to him.

I'm now playing on Top Player and it's not so bad as before, not sure why but players don't seem to be making those rocket runs through the middle that they were earlier.

Hopefully it's just a demo issue. Hope so, because aside from that I'm loving the game.

Nopemuch easier for me now. I played 2013 on all manual, maybe that is why infact i agree with sir-poc that its easier o_O
