Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Well... I know you probly won't agree with this (nobody might agree with this since these are mostly PES-related boards) but FIFA does a good job at fluid animation+responsiveness. I do prefer PES 2014 over FIFA 14, but I'm not stubborn.

Which FIFA are you referring to? FIFA 14, or past FIFA titles?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

If they completely toned down momentum to solve the so called "button lag", I'm going on an insulting spree. :(

WE2014 demo is very good on this aspect. Movement is responsive but yet it has a very goo sense of momentum and weihgt.

I suppose the king was never alive to begin with.

Damn... this is starting to get so annoying.
Hype - Depression - Hype - Depression. The King Is Back syndrome.

The game is great. Not perfect. Definetely the best of this generation. And you guys are just too emotional about PES 5-6. Deal with it. Get over it. Forget about it. Accept it. Move on.

Otherwise you will never ever be able to enjoy another football game again, you can be sure about that.

I believe you've misunderstood my post entirely. I was claiming that PES during the PS2 era had plenty of problems, yet people act as if those games are untouchable. I remember going on about the "catch up bug" on the soccergaming.com forums back in 2006 when PES 6 came out! Those games aren't perfect, and neither is 2014, that doesn't mean they're terrible games. My point was that people tend have selective memory when it comes to comparing recent PES titles with the old ones. That's all.

I personally really enjoy 2014 (more so than any current-gen PES title) and I'm looking forward to next week. I've stood by this opinion since I first had the opportunity to play the demo.

From FIFA 09 till FIFA 14.
Animations are fluid and there's responsiveness in all of them.

They're responsive because there's no foot-planting and a severe lack of inertia (which is why it's seemingly impossible to go past defenders without using tricks). It's smooth and responsive because it isn't trying portray proper movement.

Oh yeah, then I completely misunderstood your post. Sorry bro.
I just read that little bit and I snapped, cuz I'm really tired of people going on and on about PES 5 this, PES 5 that. PES 2014 this, PES 2014 that.

My apologies.

I have to disagree here.
I've scored several goals and created several scoring opportunities by getting past defenders without using any tricks other. Actually, I barely use the Tricks in FIFA. It's all about timing, and the different speeding methogs (regular speed, tight control, sprinting, and the right stick to kick the ball upfront).

I think FIFA 14 introduced inertia now. Although I don't think I'll be playing it this year. I'm happy with PES 2014 so far.

You will all enjoy pes 2014 if you thought pes 2013 was ok to good, all im saying is from watching bitter playing the demo first then playing the full game with the same setup as the demo there was a noticable change in the full game which looked to me to take the organic movement of the players and ball and tone them down, thats all im saying im not saying anything is shit or the game is broken.

It's all good, I've been a bit agitated as of late (due to other reasons as well), but I feel like a big baby at times.
It's just a game and football is just a sport, but it's clearly a passion for the majority of people who post here. I can see how some might get worked up.

I loved/love PES 4, 5, and 6, believe me, but I don't think they're the be all end all. I for one am glad Konami is finally shaking things up and taking some risks while improving the tech. Mechanics, controls and aesthetics have changed, but their philosophy towards football remains the same. That's why I'm still on board with PES despite Konami not being in top form in recent years. :))

In regards to FIFA, fair enough. I played a lot of clubs from 2008-2012 and you could certainly be an effective dribbler without the use of tricks. I suppose I meant from an offline standpoint, the CPU don't really fall for subtle movements as often due to their quick recovery. With that said, momentum and inertia isn't as pronounced in past FIFA games as it is PES. I hear that has changed with FIFA 14, but Origin has been wonky for me and I haven't been able to download the demo.

I just can't wait to see this in PS4 @ 1080p. Well... not exactly this one cuz we all know it won't be released. But I assume PES 2015 will be pretty similar. I doubt they start a new game from 0, AGAIN.

OHHH, ALRIGHT! No arguing there! I literally haven't played a single match in FIFA 13 against the CPU. All of them have been against my friends, or Online... so I guess you are right =)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

After looking at bitter's stream I'm getting a little worried here boys. Sky ain't falling yet but it's looking cloudy.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Just to make it clear, I'm also not making up my mind completely on watching the stream (although I got plenty of proof for my worries), playing it will be everything to me.

But the dumbed down AI, the dodgy keepers, the possibly dumbed down shooting and the speed up/shorter animations sacrificing realistic momentum for instant responsiveness, disappoint me a little. Deep down I know I can't exactly be pissed off @ Konami because they're complying to feedback, but at the same time think they should ignore all feedback related to core aspects of the game.

It's just my opinion of course. That's why it was always a bummer to play against a team in Pro Clubs that didn't use an ANY. More often than not it was more difficult to break down the CPU (for the reasons I mentioned before) than it was other people! :))

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

The videos are amazing..I wait for the PC version and i pre-order the game for PC so i am waiting the game on 19 of September..

about animations
i just watched a full game video on youtube Colo Colo vs Universidad de Chile and animations are the same as demo, same fluidity, same nice ball movement and remember that the game is at 60 fps while twitch streams stutters and skip frames and it's 30 fps like youtube so you will never experience the same fluidity as when you are playing

about graphics
graphics are the same looking at that video(there's even the same slowdown, damn) and the stream on twitch makes the game appear like a blurry mess so that's why it seems washed out

To be honest im just a bit worried about AI being too easy to beat based on demo
i have to test the final game at superstar before saying anything though

Can we wait for the final game then play it for a week at least before saying the game has been dumbed down, please?

After being so negative I will say one thing, I'm finding player switching to be good. Holding L1 and moving the right stick sounds like a pain but works pretty well, especially as you can see that line between players you are switching to. I'm using it to control the last man, have him jockey using R2 and then square to make others pressure the ball carrier. When the ball breaks loose and the spare man you've been holding position with mops up,that's satisfying.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

The gameplay in the full game seems to be the same in UK Winning Eleven demo 2. Some tiny differences and gameplay speeds.

shit I hope you are wrong. Winning eleven demo is so much better than UK PES demo.

Ha, I just watched the same video on Youtube:))The game looks the same as demo 2 with better response. All the animations are still there in the retail game. Not worried anymore. Something wrong with Twitch video quality I reckon;)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Again, about Bitter's stream, he put on the demo as well and the difference was there. I wouldn't say it's night and day, but the difference is there.

Unless it's the PS3 code?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

It's a cpu vs cpu game but you can see animation fluidity is still there
i can't wait for the full game so we will judge the real important matter, gameplay

The video we are talking about IS ps3 code same as bitter's,it's the only version leaked right now
look and compare it to the streaming
just search pes 2014 universidad de chile vs colo colo,i can't link it right now i am not on my computer

I have a sneaky feeling it is down to the PS3.

certainly the graphics are better of the leaked demo. more depth and colour.

I would expect xbox and especially PC to not suffer the same.

I presume konami had to make those changes to retail to compensate for the so called issues on the leaked demo.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Comparing some videos on the web, I still think I can see a difference, but maybe not so much "in your face" as I thought. They deffo removed some frames off some animations though, players transition from passes and other stuff way too fast.

Hate this, should be playing it.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

yeah its much more arcadish than the leaked demo, wich was my personal fav only it's response/speed could have bin slightly better thats it but its a bit too much now, now """sorta like PES2013 and 2012"""
just miss that slow pace of the game
