Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

The more I play this the more I dislike it. I'm gutted. Been waiting for this game all year round and I don't even like the gameplay.

The sprint speed of players is ridiculous. Smaller players motor along the turf at an incredible speed. And the game is totally unbalanced. You can pass the ball around and do intricate dribbles but in reality I can pretty much get one v one with the keeper by doing a lofted through-ball at least once or twice a game, and that's on really short matches.

In fact, all you need to do is hit the ball into space behind the defence anywhere, and your player will absolutely motor his way to the ball and the COM defence will pretty much just ignore him, leaving him through on goal. This also sometimes happens to me, where the COM does the same.

I tested it out below, the first one, I noticed Milner went on a run, absolutely flying in a straight line at a crazy speed. I thought, lets see if I can do this at will, so I just hit a basic lofted through-pass, not particularly timed, and sure enough, he carries on motoring in a straight line towards goal, and the defenders around him couldn't give a shit. Way too easy.

This is on both Professional but I can also do it on Top Player too. A simple through-ball can lead to your player being miles in the clear. Not only that, but you can hit the ball behind the defence into space towards the corner flag, and if you've seen your attacker making a forward run, he'll absolutely fly towards the ball and you can actually see the the game giving him a speed boost to overtake the last man. It's insane.

If this is going to happen every game I play then I can forget buying PES this year. Ridiculous how it can be 2013 and this sort of exploit can be done so easily. I can do the advanced method to try and handicap myself but frankly that method, in my opinion, is awful.

Really gutted by this. I just don't understand why players, particularly small ones, are so fast and the defences so unresponsive. I feared this might happen after all the Gamescom videos, no-one else seemed to notice on here but an incredibly high numbers of goals recorded at that even came from this exact method. Lofted through balls or long aimless passes, crazy fast attackers and defenders letting them run onto the ball unopposed :(

Is this demo or retail version ?

This was my worry, and why I stopped playing the demo, and why I've not written much as I seem in the minority. The defensive AI is atrocious and simply cannot cope with attacking runs. I'm really worried this will be amplified online, as its far, far too easy to simply motor away from the defensive line for an easy chance on goal.

Genuinely not trolling here, but I can't help but feel that people here have got carried away with the technical innovation, thereby losing sight of the actual gameplay. Yes, it looks impressive, and yes it's clearly trying to be a simulation. But, I just don't see the improvements in the mechanics.

Dribbling isn't fun or intuitive, I haven't see any evidence of mazy dribbles that weren't reliant on pace or skill presets. This was a staple of the series and I'm gutted it's more akin to FIFA's rigid implementation. Shooting lacks omph, passing is adequate. I can win games, I can dominate games, but I can't make spontaenous reactive build-ups anymore. The goals feel stale as fuck.

I've ordered the game as the potential is there, and I seriously hope its just a learning curve thats stopping me. But atm I've lost all enthusiasm for it, and that hasn't happened at this stage for me since PES 2009.

He's on about the second demo which is weird, imo. The full game looks amazing from the streams I have seen from Bitter. MUCH BETTER than the demos. You lot just like to find things to complain about. I have not seen anything in the demo that surpasses that of the final code. Ask Bitter. He just streamed both one after the next. Ask him what he felt.

Thanks for saying so as its exactly how I feel about the game. The defensive AI in this demo, on all difficulties, is indeed atrocious. And that's not me complaining about conceding goals, it's me complaining about being able to score them too easily too.

I've tested out my complaint further, and basically if you see a forward making a darting run, and I mean one travelling at full speed (which I still think is insanely fast) just hammer the lofted through pass. Doesn't matter really how much power so long as you don't under-hit it. The attacker will almost always run onto it and either the defender will just not keep pace with you, or he'll always get under the ball and leave you through on goal anyways.

First game back on the demo since posting earlier and I managed this within 30 seconds of starting the game. I never initiated Xavi's run, the COM did, and then when I pick him out with a pass the AI just leaves him completely unattended. Plus, when have you ever seen Xavi's able to sprint this fast?

The game is so unbalanced it's untrue, and the defensive AI on (this was on Top Player) is completely broken.

watching bitters stream for the last hour its clear that in the full game animations have been toned down to add more responsiveness , the demo is much more organic with the ball movement and player animations more free

abit of a letdown

Hey supertalk you should wait for full retail cause from what iv heard the game has changed again for the better. Hang in there mate.

Fuck. That's incredibly disappointing if so.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

My issue with demo 2 was midfield battles aren't as intense as the leaked demo but by speaking to people with the full game saying its all good, I hope.

Fookin hell if so. Why they always have to cater to the "casual" moaners out there is beyond my comprehension.

not just me who thinks that, we asked him to play the demo with italy germany then play the full game with everything the same, even the colours in the full game are less vibrant in the konami stadium than in the demo

anderson will agree as he has been watching it too

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Oh man, don't start to freak us out.
But anyways, for precaution i will start a CL mode, and see if it's a recurrent issue. I will only attack like this.
If it is. We must report it to Adam, Manorito Hosoda, and all PES team ASAP.

I'll be really interested to hear your findings! In my demo defences are completely leaving attacking runs and allowing the ball to run past them every time :( it's a game-breaking issue, I'm absolutely amazed virtually no-one has noticed this. I even saw it time and time again in the Gamescom videos.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Some of you guys are real sheep on here. ONLY if you played the full game and dont like it should you complain. Otherwise, just STFU! COMPLAINING about a demo is the most retarded thing I have heard, when the full game, that I am currently watching ON Bitter's stream, FAR surpasses its quality.

Honestly.

Okay, rant over. Just saw a glitch on Bitter's stream..

http://www.twitch.tv/bitter_rivals

. It can and probably will be patched in the first day patch though. Funny still and VERY infrequent.

Okay I'll stop pointing out a game breaking issue that I'm playing and witnessing first hand in favour of watching someone else play on an internet stream, and assuming it'll magically be fixed by release.

I don't get that impression, but W/e. It's like we forget that the day 1 patch is there for a reason. (Maybe it feels dumbed down b/c the lack of prior responsiveness required more skill to overcome. EVER considered that, even for a moment?)

If you have only played the demo then do what you have said. Good. It's useless if you don't consider the full game which is already finished. Why do I even bother? Some of you men don't feel good until you find something to pick at. I'll leave it, yeah?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

People want fluid, realistic animations then complain about lack of responsiveness.

People want responsiveness then complain about clipped/disjointed animations.

Bah.

One doesn't necessarily rule out the other one.
It's not ONE OR THE OTHER. Both can happen at the same time.

Shit biscuit! Can't watch the stream because my dsl internet is so damn slow. Bloody love demo 2, too:CRY:

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Not going to based everything based on video and other people's words since there are many conflicting reports. Different people have different perception on how thing should or should not be, and i know for sure responsiveness is almost impossible to be seen, you have to 'feel' it. I need to try it by myself.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

In an ideal world, but real evidence suggests otherwise. I think there is always compromise and trade-offs to be made in the animations vs response time relationship.

Well... I know you probly won't agree with this (nobody might agree with this since these are mostly PES-related boards) but FIFA does a good job at fluid animation+responsiveness. I do prefer PES 2014 over FIFA 14, but I'm not stubborn.
