Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Commentary is definitely improved. I've heard a few new lines here and there that relate to what's actually going on. So like I scored a goal, later in the match I did a through ball with the same player and they spoke about how he tried to make an impact there just like he had early with that goal. Or words to that effect.

They seem so much more interested.

The AI are great, I'm on professional and seeing a great amount of tricks and lovely back heel no look passes, different kinds of shots and attempts on goal. Fucking lovely header animation where the player leaps up, kicks his leg out and twists his neck. Just phenomenal. The ai just seem perfectly balanced. Not too many tricks that it's overkill. Just ... It seems done when the context is right for it. So no defenders screwing out doing step overs.

Few niggles.
There some slot on rails when chasing a loose ball. It's like the game is trying to help you and it locks you into a path. Just seems slightly ... Odd ... Compared to the rest of the play that feels so much more free. It's a great help though at times so you don't run after a ball and somehow run beyond it. Double edged sword.

Lot of team changes need to go on. Real Madrid have Diego Lopez up front, benzene on the left wing. Just odd things like that. Could be the squad update I downloaded not being fully complete.

Lot of faces look horrible (yes I know they had to start new, but you can't ignore the fact) and there are a few things that are just oddly incorrect like Coloccini having short Messi like hair at Newcastle despite there being acceptable other hairstyles there for them to pick. Odd.

Player far editing is great. You have points on the face that you drag around and the face changes in real time. You can move the face front facing and then the profiles and then we have all those options like last year for skin colour, wrinkles, eye shape etc... Lot of work to do and hopefully konamis patches don't erase anything the OF makers create.

Frame rate is still an issue. Stutters on replays and cut scenes.

But let's not ignore that this game is fantastic. I'm like ... Leaning towards this being the best PES they've ever made. Better than the classics.

It's a shame framerate is still a problem
i don't if it's bad optimization or weak consoles

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

So this is worrying:

On Normal shooting, full power tends to have shots to way over.

On Advanced shooting, you pretty mich always hit the goal... Full power with Colo-Colo players, and they rarely miss, if they do miss, it is those balls that go just wide or juuust over.

The Advanced system pretty much seems to disregard the player stats, since lower rated players suddenly aim as well as Ronaldo. Atleast there is very little that separates their accuracy. I've tried full sprint and full power, awkward turns then shot with full power, they never take uncomposed shots. The game seems to automatically slow the shot down if it feels the player is uncomposed, but the resulting shot is always balanced so that it hits goal. Advanced shooting, full power and stick fully towards the opponent goal, and you've got crossbar-in every couple of shots.

It's like they had 2 people design Normal and Advanced shooting, and they didn't cooperate, but just did completely different designs that take factors like body balance, accuracy etc into account in completely different ways. I'm kind of baffled. Advanced shooting should give me more control where I want the player to aim, but if a Colo-Colo defender is running full pelt and using full shot power, I would expect it to sometimes to atleast more than 30cm over the crossbar...

Pretty good on Konami to be handing these out to the community, it speaks volumes about what Adam has been able to bridge between Konami and the fans.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Guys, another day at the office, but some quick impressions about yesterday with the game:

MODES:

- Libertadores Mode is a blast, south american football ambience everywere, the crowd, the fireworks, the chants. Sadly almost all the matches are on one of konami's fake stadium, for local and visit matches. At least for little teams.

- Training Mode is very very enjoyable and deep, it allows you to learn all the new things of the game very very well, it's very addicting to, when you complete the objective of a session, you keep it playing again.

- New Latin America commentaries (Argentinians and Chileans), are just like the broadcast here in south america, so alive and real, and with a lot of passion. They put you more in the game.

- About edit mode, i did a quick view, and it seems that every unlicensed team you can edit completly, so is just a matter of time for the modders to full licence them.

GAMEPLAY:

- Definitely is more polished than the demo, no "ketchup" bug, you must to tap R1 to run, but you must to be smart, because it' like a little burst of speed, and it's matter of ability, because defence can do it to, and they can push you with their body ( running with L and movin R directly to the attacker direction.) So you must run smartly to fool the defender.

- There's a lot of times that you are running, but then you have to stop because the defender is almost there, and you must do some dribbling or feint, to fool him. A lot of one on one battle between attacker and defender, in every part of the field. Sometimes it's 1 against 2, and when you achieve to pass them is the best feeling in the world. And the crow cheers for things like that!

- GK. OMG, i think i saw at least 12 new animations of saves just yesterday, with foot a lot, one hand against low balls too. I'm very impressed that low stats keepers at least from libertadores teams, they do a very good job.

Keep reporting when i arrive home again. I'm at work again....:BOP:

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

For ppl with the final code / close to final code, is the framerate non-match elements smoother than in the demo? e.g. walking in the tunnels, celebrations

A bit better but still a bit laggy. Menus generally arent laggy except from the gameplan which is as bad as the demo.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

A lot of conflicting views about this demo, but of course we can't really judge the game until we have the full package in our hands. All these minor niggles reported may be fixed by then. Demo hasn't dragged me in yet, but I'm very exited for the full game, so mission successful for Konami.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Keep em coming rad and congrats mate.

I am getting the impression that this games not going down well with a few people - particularly those that enjoyed PES2013.

I know PES 5 had a wicked learning curve that put quite a few off and reading the impressions on WENB I suspect the casuals that have been having a blast playing thruballs and sprinting for the last few iterations are gonna hate this game and I hope to hell it doesnt mean PES is going to go back to pick up and spam play in future.

I dont believe that 1 game can satisfy both the sim seekers and high octane speed junkies.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Yeah PES 5 had a mad learning curve. People hated it in droves, but if you stuck with it, it would eventually click and reveal a masterpiece. PES 2014 being a completely new game, I'm hoping for the same scenario this time.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Can anyone with the game give some feedback about 11x11 mode? Anything linked with Manual?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Will anyone buy Winning Eleven 14 from Play-Asia. I'm thinking about getting it instead PES. My main concern is will I be able to play online and against what players...from what region.

Mate, i downloaded the demo, and the only texts in english are the main menu.

Players name, In-game menu, Help text, everything else is in japanese.

I spend most of my time on WENB and it's surprising, to me at least, how the mood has changed and also how polarising the game is.

Admittedly, I'm not the hardest person to please on a gaming front, not fussy at all and i'm able to overlook things if there is more to like that not. However, I truly believe this game is something special, even more so for the first in the series.

There appears to be a depth to the game which we haven't had since the PS2 games, where really mastering it will give you a huge advantage. Dribbling is amazing and the individuality is very evident imo. Spain are entirely different to play with than anyone else on the demo. Playing a quick passing game is so easy with them because of movement and the quickness of their players.

From what I can tell, those who are jumping in and expecting the game to play like pes2013 are really hating it. I assume they're trying to go forward at every opportunity and holding R1 constantly.

Nope, you're wrong. You could actually change the language text between English and Japanese.

Yes it is. Love the dribbling and close control in tight crowded areas without using anything but the stick. Looks and feels great. Then when you see an opportunity to escape a quick tap of the R1 button lets you explode out of trouble into space. Doesn't always work, like real in real life, but when it does:))

Region 2 Winning Eleven, you face Japanese opponents.
Region 3 Winning Eleven, you face Asia ex Japan opponents.

Hope this helps.
