Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Negatives:

Menus still ugly. Not important but would be nice to have a better font and menu.
Demo is too short. I cant get into it properly. Everytime Im in a good game the FT whistle goes!
Shooting - not got the hang of it yet. Reminding me of PES12 Shooting.
Cant adjust the demo game speed. I reckon Ill be a +1 player. The demo version is just that bit too slow.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

In a small specialist store. There's a place here in town where you can find a lot of small store that sell videogames, mangas, bluray, etc.

No way on big ones, they will sell it on the official date. september 24.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

So I'll also chime in that shooting in general lacks power. Especially when you get close to goal. Control shots in general have more the appearance of a slow cross, not the hard instep strike you want. Also 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper the shooting feels very tame, like the player is afraif of breaking the ball. I feel this needs improving further. It might be restricted to avoid the goalkeepers being beaten from close range all the time, if Konami weren't able to program convincing behaviors for close range saving. Or the deemed suitable reaction time for the goalkeepers requires restricting shot speeds slightly to not have every 1-1 be a goalfest.

It just seems obvious to me that there is an imbalance between the general speed and pace of the player as he charges towards the goal, and the lack of a solid punch when you shoot, you'd expect the better players to have the ball leaving their boot just as fast as they sprinted towards goal, and the ball only needing a second or so from the penalty area line to the goal. Instead it takes it 1.5 or so.

I'm too lazy but I would like to put some real life examples from a real or barca game of a very hard shot, and a control shot curling into the far corner, next to each other to further show the disparity.

I haven't tried it since FKs are not in the training, but has someone been able to perform a bullet freekick? The Ibrahimovic "holy sh*t" kind? Plenty of players with top class kicking power in the demo.

EDIT: As an example, check this messi goal:

http://youtu.be/wEhniGlFDtA?t=1m31s

This is a control shot with the instep. The PES demo lacks the "Bang!" feeling of these shots, they just sort of trickle forward instead.

Hadn't tried using the Set-Cursor option in the demo yet and was pleasantly surprised. You can finally switch between the ball view and your player's view with the back/select button! The transition is quite smooth as well. This will be a welcome change for BAL as well as 11v11. :BOP:

BAL will surely be nice, like you say easily changing camera tracking is awesome and very convenient. Plus the fact that the motion of the player is smoothed out enabled walking and slow jogging in a very natural looking way, not the stop-start of previous games.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Glad to hear that Master League will be stripped down in PES 2014. All the fluffy additional stuff they kept adding to ML the last few years made me only less and less inclined to play it.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Here's Adam's response on WENB to digimon's ML impressions:

Come around party idea not so great me thinks.

Sure, it's not great. I came in mid production and the team told me they had a focus list of things they could implement, so we concentrated on implementing national and club team management as a priority. But your impressions are way off.

And people will see that too. You bought Sanchez for 10mil because he was transfer listed, or available to purchase? Same as PES 2013. The % things comes into account when trying to buy players who aren't available, as well as team ranking.

The other items were removed based on feedback. Not much I can do if people say the secretary and coach are annoying. The training is based on the PES 2011 training, which was used this year with the removal of boosting.

Club change is based on how you perform. Do poorly, and you'll be sticking to your league and maybe get a choice of other countries. Do well, you'll have a choice of clubs throughout the leagues in the game.

Club World Cup added.
Club change added
Player development fixed (no one going over 99 etc)
International management with all cups added (Europe, WC, AFCON, ASIAN ETC)
Heart (makes all games significantly different)
Able to purchase player across continent
Loads of new cutscenes and moments throughout a season

I would say this: the mode is definitely not all I want from a career experience. Definitely have higher expectations. But, it's a million times better than PES 2013 ML.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

can completely understand his response however I don't think mancan meant anything bad by his opinion. I think what exacerbates the whole thing is that we've been pretty much starved of any mode info in the first place. ah well

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Can anyone make the pass and move work? Old pes you just pressed R2 when you passed and the player followed his run into space?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Here's Adam's response on WENB to digimon's ML impressions:

To be honest I've been playing PES 2011 alot lately so if the player training is like that in ML, that's great. Assign priority to a few different categories, and the better the coach the more focus points (so if no coach, what determines the focus points you can allot to train players, and separates Barca from lower clubs in their development abilities?).
Also you could assign player cards and select the priority, higher priority means quicker acquisition of the skill, but it takes away focus points from the other training areas.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Feedback welcome as always, but I'll be getting all feedback from Asim/Suff/Nico

Thanks Lami. Well done Adam.

After play these demos I can really see the positive affects Adam is having on the game since his arrival at konami. It's no coincidence that this is the best PES in years and it has happened since his employment. Glad he's there to filter out the noise and focus on the football.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Haha the physics make for some brutal fouls at times, this one earned me a straight red. Firstly, Bruno Alves rakes his studs down the back of Muller's heel, then hooks his other leg round both Muller's legs before kind of 'chopping' his legs together. Ouch.

Speaking of which, your CPU teammates appear to be a lot more intelligent compared to 2013. That much was obvious just from watching videos, but in practice it's really something. They play the ball around, pick you out with a pass. It's good stuff. None of this, "Right, I'm going to jog along the touchline and clatter into this defender over and over. If you're lucky, I might dribble off the pitch. Try not to toss your computer out the window." Your AI teammates in 2013 would have their moments (back heel 1-2s and what not), but that's what they were, moments. Really looking forward to BAL.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Well I'm going to stay strong and avoid getting the demo, just gonna hang on for the retail version next week (please be Thurs Shopto!).

I'm not even going to watch Babestation all week and save all my Harry Monk for the big PES2014 wankathon next weekend!

Peace

Adam's employment has as much an effect as Jon Murphy's has, it's negligible and more in the area of marketing and social communication.

The real change was when Konami decided to let Seabass leave the position of head-developer and let someone else, with fresh ideas and skills take over.

Seabass himself brough it into rolling at the time of PES 2011, when Konami started to realize that PES needs much more investment to become competitive again.

So what we get now with the new Fox-engine is what Seabass dreamed of years ago, but with a younger talented developer at the top of it.

Yes, Fox Engine helps too:))

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Indeed, it's down to Kei work. His touch was already visible with PES 2013, but lacked technology to support his view on football.

Now he got it. No wonder this game feels like PS2 games (he was responsible for some of OLD PS2 game, I believe it was either PES 3 or PES 5).

If this plays anywhere near PES 5, I will be in Heaven for MOST of the year. No doubt, new PES would take a LOT of my time ;).

Adam opinion, input will be from next year. Now, it was all done, before he even had input into things (my sole opinion, not fact).

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Where are these impressions?

They're hardly impressions really. Just more the removal of most fluff.

Tbh Id prefer you guys to just ask questions as I cant be bothered to write a long winded post.

Just imagine last year(same load problems etc) without cutscenes, staff upgrades, club upgrades, sponsors, training equipment, bootgate stuff, player feelings etc.

There is no seperate manager history or reputation section where you see how you've done in previous jobs and what your standing in the game is. No agent, contract etc.

Just you and your squad which you add or remove players from. Real simple. Some people may like this approach I just personally need more in a career mode.
