ribery did a couple of tricks against me.

anyway i am glad people felt the same as i did, the old pes3/4 feeling is back.

I still can't push the ball forward when running in the usual way (maybe the change the command) and it turned out headers aiming at ground need triangle after square.

ON the annoying things: since pes 2008 konami implemented long replays after goals which are basically very dull and boring. i wish the old ps2 replays were back. And how long would it take to add a "skip replay" option during games? painful mistakes like this really can kill the flow of the game, especially the tight last minutes.

Great to hear you witnessed Ribery try some against you, can you recall what they were?

100% agree.

But IMO Pirlo feels amazing at passing the ball.
To me, Ribery feels really fast when you have a few meters to run without getting an opponent in front of you (which is really rare). The problem is when the ball is in dispute, that's when every player feels almost the same and they all feel slow, unresponsive and heavy.

It's like, when you have a rival in front of you, or when you're 1vs1, there's nothing you can do but to pass the ball. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL.

Look at all the individual ratings and you will see just how closely most of the players are rated, the ratings are very generic at this stage.

PES is a stats built game.

We won't see this a full tilt till release. This a beta remember. The responsivness is so bad you really can't judge it now. In the new videos it's shown to b massively improved.

I got the pes 2014 demo when it was released.. was deleted from psn about 30mins after I dl it :) Although not as responsive as id like, its the best ps3 version to date..Much less robotic than the previous ps3 version, and the animations are very natural transition wise and look sensible and realistic compared to previous versions.

Played the fifa2013 demo right after a good hour on pes2014, and yeah fifa is still more responsive, but pes2014 the more realistic animations etc.
Im a big fan of fifa's right stick control of the ball, but apart from that, Pes2014 has a lot going for it, and I despite the demo not being a great code (response and a few things are off for me), itll be the game ill be playing on the ps3...

Ok, just a bit of background dribble. After loving most of the pes's, but particularly the winning elevens for ps2, I was really excited about the pes 2008 for ps3. However its just been disappointment with pes2008-2013 on ps3, and in fact i started getting into fifa12 on ps3. Finally after a few months I had enough...reaction time with fifa pissed me off...

I then got into the pc pes6 and we9LE/pes5.... loved the good old gameplay, response time, but particularly the fact it could be played in a much higher resolution than the ps2 versions, plus the patch factor.. 2013/14 patches, and of course the fact that it could be played on widescreen and camera could be tinkered... looks great on the 46" plasma :)

Recently, I came back to the ps2 versions.. and although currently it looks like shite on the plasma (ill soon get the best upscaler for that..meaning the framemeister x-rgb mini, so itll look awesome on the big HD plasma/lcd tvs), it still has the best versions for me, ie:
WE9 JL
WE2007cc
WE2009JL (I have the last of the JL series we2010jl, but that's when slowdown finally appears.. so 2009JL is better for that reason alone)

Due to gameplay, particularly 3 key factors: 1. reaction time between input and what the player does,2. player weight, as well as 3. the speed of the game, the ps2 versions are the best footy games to date. Its probably due to lack of animations, that the ps2 versions kick ass with the reaction time.. but interestingly (despite the lack animations compared to ps3 and the 8/16 way movement) they still have a great smoothness between animations. Yes ive dribbled, but im hoping to see the same reaction time (input = immediate action) in pes2014, as its definitely the key factor separating the ps2 versions from the ps3 versions (including the fifa games). Reaction time is the thing that's really annoyed me about all the next gen footy games. Interestingly, some people mention to me, that that's what makes the new gen footy games more realistic.. ie. reaction time or input time not being so immediate or supernatural ala ps2 versions.

Although it may seen supernatural to some, I do prefer the quick reaction/input time. Im just wondering how the the programmers will be able to improve this aspect with next gen footy games like pes2014. With so many more animation frames (eg. with a shot at goal) in the ps3 versions compared to the ps2 games, to improve response/input time, it seems they will either need to downsize the amount of animation frames, or in fact speed up the actual kicking animation - which to some could actually look un realistic.

I apologise for the random 'lack of direction' of a post..

Yep that's definitely true but EFA/ECC does a passable imitation, they generally get all the rules right etc, ML would be better for a start if D2 had playoffs!

Sheffield Wednesday are a real team, kinda!

the gameplay from FIFA doesn't come near PES if you asked me but still i buy them both recently because i don't wanna miss out on the presentation and other stuff FIFA are good in.
but PES always ends up getting more gametime.

Can anyone here tell me if we also have to blame EA for commentaries? PES has been using the same commentaries for the past 3 years that I am not even surprised to what Jon champion will say next. I think Konami are lazy on other platform of the game and that where EA is capitalising as they can't do much with the gameplay.

Even the Champions League license they have they don't use it extensively in the game to like FIFA promote the EPL in the game. the stupid CL competition of 5 minutes online are just pathetic.

Is EA blocking Konami from delivering a good new set of match commentator?, is does EA have exclusive right to Jon Champion and his other pal to not give us complete new commentaries?, I don't think so, and I starting to not believe this all blame EA stadium saga as it either they don't have much time to build them in Fox Engine or where expecting them for free from Teams/Leagues. #BlameKonamiForEverthing
#LovePES2014Gameplay

PES are limited on what they can record because of lack of licences, they can't talk about any team they don't have the licence for or any player in too much detail like EA can, that is the basis for their commentary, 'Authenticity'. They speak and every player, every team, their history, there is no limit. Konami are limited in this regard, the Commentary can be better but they have their hands severely tied because of licences.

For me it's all about he SP, PES obviously does some things very well, better than Fifa, but ML is so boring and devoid of any kind of connection to reality that at best it's a 1-2 month filler between new Fifas (don't think I've played Fifa13 since about May or so when the RL season ended).

aaahhh oke that says a lot:APPLAUD: thanks for your honesty man.

Well it does make a huge difference, like any sane rational person I'd stopped playing Fifa for many years and moved over to PES, then one day I tried Fifa07 on the PS2, the gameplay compared to PS2 PES was very poor, but they had Sheffield Wednesday in manager mode, my team, my kit, my players, the commentator said the name of my team, it's very special after 4-5 years of option files/mods which obviously helped fill a void but never are quite the same.

Actually one more thing...

In regards to pes2014 demo..any one notice this new feature:

Holding L1 + using R stick... it places a huge white directional arrow on the screen from the currently selected player... seems to work while in defence and attack.. im guessing its a way to direct players off the ball in the precise direction you want them to go. Its like the manual passing arrow you see, but instead the arrow is huge... don't think anyone has mentioned this.

Oh one more thing.. the Demo has training mode.. a few basic drills, and few advanced drills.. im liking the advanced through balls (hard to master), but particularly the advanced shooting... kinda between manual and auto shooting... more precision in picking the area of goal you want to shoot at and it shows a ring around the area your aiming at...

finally.. I have to say.. I love the penalty shoot outs...the best penalty shoot out system on a pes game for sure..so much more realistic... the keeping is fun also.. can move left or right of the line until the kick is taken, and can do a late "short dive" reaction save, or a fully fledged max dive save by picking early... animations are so much better :)

Concerning the huge amount of replays, I think Konami would benefit by adding a feature that's present in Top Spin [2K] games.

It basically works like this:

Every action you take is recorded. After the ball is out of play, you are given the option to review the play by pressing Triangle [or Y]. The game doesn't throw the replay at you. It asks if you want to see it by flashing an icon - the Triangle or Y - and then, should you press it, it shows the play. If you don't press it, the game moves on.

Konami should do this.

That would be perfect.

guys i became a kinda noob here :D i barely cant get to the box nor hold onto the ball in one on one situation...tried to focus on Giaccherini as a speed demon put him to the side as much as i can and go for the "cross tactic" but even him when gets the ball immidietly gets smashed by Hummels or some big fu**in german :D

this 5 minute matches aint working for me, i need more time to build at least 3 attacks and praying one of them to be a goal

I don't really see what catch up bugs talk about in this video ;)

YouTube - PES 2014 - Goals Compilation [HD]

The only problem in this video are the lag of first time shooting, and some awarness of defenders and keepers. If you whatch some of the goals, when the bal is passed to the player who scores the bar is already filled but the player instead of making a first time shoot, first receives it gives a touch, and only then shoots to the goal. That happens sometimes in 2013 mostly in 2012 and 2011.

The player should hit a volley or shoot it right away, even if it goes wide or really weak based on position and body balance.

totally understandable:COOL:

The new camera settings are a huge thing.. thank god for that.

However, the replays are exactly the same as previous versions which is a huge shame.. you should be able to view the replays just like the ps2 versions.. ie. able to view replays in the same view that you play the game.

They are better than previous versions, as in they look more realistic..but they are still quite tight... just a bit more give would make them perfect.
atleast they are moving in the right direction, so this year everything seems improved.
oeps, sorry, forgot about the rain and licensed stadiums.
overall still a good package wouldn't you say?

you're kidding right?

no i'm not kidding....i did a lot of matches....but i feel like i'm playing with fifa and not pes.
i'm not a troll...i love pes...and i was so happy to read all good news about this new game with new engine...but for now i'm really disappointed, especially for shoting...i really do't like it. the game has got a good speed, but if i think about shoting i really get nervous

Having the same issues. AI is all over me like a cheap suit.

I've never had the luxury of the team I support being in PES, if your team wasn't in you'd feel what it's like :)

You need to support a better team bud ............. Simples.

But on a serious note, I feel your pain, I'm in the same boat, although option files do help massively.

I think asim said that demo sounds like its set on superstar if thats right I cant wait for demo 2 where I can actually have the ball in the last 3rd for more than 5 seconds lol
