Wowzers lot of posts to catch up with overnight!

Yes Fifa probably did always sell more, however the market share between about 1999 and 2007 or so was a lot closer, PES/WE used to sell many millions a year, it's only in recent times that certain markets have seen Fifa outself PES by 25:1 and such. Konami had a real opportunity to stride ahead with PES 99-07 but for whatever reason they chose not to, they chose not to reinvest some of the hundreds of millions of $ the game was bringing them in into licenses, they chose not to invest into building up ML, I'm shocked that I basically stopped playing PES at PES5 and started again with PES 2013 and ML is essentially the same, couple of additions here, including some magic boots and that's about it, I'm someone who only plays manager mode, career mode etc exclusively, I know I'm in the minority but between PES5 and PES 2013 have they seriously invested no time, no money in expanding ML to appeal more to the likes of me? That shocks me.

Yh i stopped with pes 6 cos i just got bored of master league, plus pes 2008 was atrociously bad. And i never really got into fifa either as the freedom i recieved from pes was never there. I always felt ristricted and matches where being repeated whether i played stoke or barca they played same passing style. No indaviduallity. But online was decent to be honest. However am glad pes changed master league to make it much more intertaining, as well as improve online as I like a mix of old school offline gaming and current online gaming experince. :))

I've been unfair with the PES Team. There's a lot of wrong in Konami as a company that end up having consequences on the game, but the developers (and all people directly related to the game's development) are not the ones to blame for the majority of it.

how do you know this and what has changed your mind

This will just be me uselessly venting.

I am just disappointed about the recent news.

Konami made a point of saying how their new engine allowes for great light effects. They showed off stadiums looking almost identical to their real-world coutnerparts.
I immediately thought "I can't wait to play a match on afternoon and have some beautiful relaxed pre-sunset lighting, that always has such a nice ambiance to it".

What's that, no afternoon setting? Great use of your engine guys...

Also the reasoning that them implementing rain also needs to have alot of other factors like different ball physics, etc etc. To me atleast, they are missing the point completely.
I am potentially playing this game for 300+ days. 100s and 100s of hours. I want diversity, plain and simple. Give me some rainy visuals so that every match doesn't look the same. Meet the basic things I would expect ANY football game to have. Should you expand on that to include smaller details in future games, great. Not including rain because, quoting Adam, "you'd want to also implement things like teams used to playing more in rain being more powerful in those conditions" is either an excuse for purely graphical problems with implementing rain-soaked kits and waterdrops without dropping framerates, or it shows that again, you don't get it from the user perspective.

I would rather have 40 generic stadiums than 10 licensed ones. Because diversity. Sure, it would be nice to have Barca playing at Nou Camp, but having 10 teams in my ML playing with the same "generic small town stadium" is by far more distracting.

Making the world seem alive, vivid, and breathing, is to me far more important than making it authentic. A licensed stadium is nothing if I constantly get the feeling that just outside the stadium walls, there is a blue nothingness rather than a city with people, cars etc.

I'd rather be playing in unlicensed stadiums that feel like they are placed in a real world, than licensed stadiums that are always, every match, lit by the sun in the exact same angle, never changing, never a cloud shadow moving over the pitch, never a raindrop...

Why would I want to play a game that just feels flat and fake? That's one reason I am always excited by non-gameplay touches like cameramen, seeing the subs on the sideline etc. It makes the world seem more genuine, and that alone can make me go back to the game more, since it can really feel like you are spending some time in a convincing alternate reality.

in real football theres also players holding each other battling, which in return slows the player down dont you think

Mate, I've played football in real life since I was five or six. I'm naturally very quick/fast. Not to toot my own horn, but the amount of times I've blown by an opposing defender with sheer speed is countless. Muscling players off the people is all well and good assuming you can stay with them. Granted, the defending I'm up against isn't even on the same realm as professional football, but my point still stands.

It's a tough act to balance, it really is. I agree that the physicality of it plays a large part in real football as you can get brushed off the ball, and defenders can position their bodies accordingly to cut out runs/prevent players from getting up to speed. With that said, here's a perfect example of using pace to exploit defenders.

Absolutely nailed it. Brilliant post.

Also, perhaps Konami will release the odd stadium as free DLC to soften the blow a little?

I think we should expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised if they offer something down the track. Most of us don't even have the demo to play yet so in between the game going Gold and the release date or shortly thereafter, there is scope to give us some DLC. Depends how much manpower they will have dedicated to the next gen version though. I'd be happy even if we got some DLC down the track.

I've said this already but I sincerely hope they can give us more than a sunny and clear nighttime setting? I assume so since there was a summer and winter setting I saw on one of the recent video's. Dynamic lighting is not a priority for this game but a cloudy day or dusk type lighting should have zero requirement to change the pitch conditions and ball behaviour - I expect it to just be a lighting effect? Given the speed of development offered by the fox engine I'd hope this is something they can also patch in if it's not there at launch. I'm not privvy to their inner workings so I'm just hoping at this point.

I hate most pes next gen (2010 and 2011 being the only ones i managed to enjoy), but for those old school ISS players, well lads, you are in for a special treat this time around. This game is simply the old school pes we all waited for.

This Demo is pretty much PES3 in HD and with the added freedom of movements. I am surprised nobody mentioned that so far( i still play pes3 and 5 to this day so i guess i notice it more).
The pace, sliding tackles, off the ball movements, physical weight of players, ball physics, even dribbling animation are strikingly similar to those of Pes3, the best pes ever in gameplay terms. Every moment counts, u gotta think, wait, use players individuality, time well ur defense, force players into bad positions etc. Like the old days, gone are coast to coast, bullshit dribbling tricks, easy ball through. Ribery is a beauty to watch...just by chancing the pace and angles he can pass defenders!

yes the demo is a bit rough around the corners but once they iron out a few things here and there and fix the keeper, this will be a game u play non stop for a year with mates and vs AI.

the one and only thing i can't really stand are the menu', meaning font style and the absurd thing that u have to press X to selct and X to confirm. Menu' are slow, ugly, dull and uninspired and simply stupidly designed.

Speedwise, it mostly depends on the camera u play on. I like a short broadcast cameras (i think i am on 6 zoom, 0 height and 6 angle which feels like pes 2010 broadcast) so 0 speed is fine with me, maybe +1 with lesser teams.

But really, this almost feels like those pes3/4 intro videos u have been dreaming of. Just choose a sexy camera and enjoy the game.

Off topic a bit but Madden was mentioned in here, Madden 25 with the impact engine or whatever they are calling it makes the game 100 times better imo. Should have been in from way back and now makes previous versions unplayable. Should we really be thankful for both these companies giving us bog standard games in this era of tech? They both have underechieved as far as i'm concerned.:OT:

nope, not when the attacker has left the defender for dust. only way he's being slowed down is by a foul

ok cause from what i read a few pages ago, the guy playing referred to the catch up bug by saying there was too much jostling between defender and attacker, if thats the case should bring it up with bhatti and co, are there any videos out there that can support this.

Off topic slightly but I played a game on the PES 2011 demo and saw a brilliant one handed save where the keeper parried a shot high and wide with forceful contact. Hope to see that kinda thing on PES 2014.

completely understand where you coming from are you able show me a video that has the bug.

FYI, I just opened up a PES 2014 DEMO sub in the Editing area. Feel free to post any editing related file shizzle in there. Cheers.

please explain. I thought the demo was pulled?

It was, but anyone who downloaded it once has it tied to their account in their download history, so if I (for example) give some friends (as I did last night) my PSN login they can log into my PSN on their console, download the PES2014 demo, delete my PSN and it's then sat on their console for them to play.
