I hope this is not Subašić in background as that GK is nowhere near what he looks like.

Ah, man, this defensive awareness issue off the ball is utterly fucked, I'm completely stunned how virtually no-one seems to be remotely noticing this in the demo. I saw it in the Gamescom videos but didn't mention anything because, we'll, they were just videos and older code, but EVERY SINGLE MATCH I play, even on such short maches, sees at least two occasions where either defence goes completely AWOL. Every time.

Watch this central defender in the middle of the picture. At the start of the video, he is in a reasonable position, he has the option of tracking the forward or dropping deep into the space behind his fellow defender. Nope. He randomly decides to shuffle past the attacker and into the the midfield, leaving a simple pass through the middle and the striker is one v one with the keeper.

It's happening every match, sometimes in my favour, sometimes in the COM's favour. Either way it's awful and miles worse than any PES before it. I'm shocked no-one else seems to be seeing this.

This is on Superstar by the way. I'll get slated for moaning about this but the demo of a brand new football game on a revolutionary new engine shouldn't repeatedly be seeing defenders ignore the play and run into the midfield. It's appalling.

Camera in the ball? Some kind of goal line tech along with cut scenes and commentary on suspect goals?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Ok. Honestly, I don't know what to think anymore regarding game speed. Last night I played it felt quick, put it down to -1 and felt like the demos again. Today default felt good, but that's because I wanted to test the exact same conditions from the official demo, so I used same teams, same everything and choose allianz arena in daytime; felt the same as the official demo. Then upped to +1 for some good action. I think there are different factors playing a role regarding this, possibly different stadium, player arrows, heart.

Good thing though we have the game speed so just use what suits you best.

Re: ketchup bug, really don't see it, BUT.. there are these instances where CPU players suddenly rocket in short distance, but I don't know if that's down to that player's explosive speed(?) vs my player's dribbling speed, slow dribble pace or trapping the ball at that very moment.

Overall though the game still looks good, animations still intact. No conspiracy theories here.

Maybe ST mentioned this, CPU long passes and through balls need toning down a bit I guess. Will need to play much more to know if it's just a tactic thing or not though.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, that half a second pause near the box needs to go. Also the slowdown. I know it's a framerate thing but I hope it gets fixed.

After playing it more, I honestly see no "Speed up" or changes in from the Demo people where talking about. Chill out guys, I think everyones just used to saying it from previous years.

Peeps, don't put your vids on private, nobody's able to watch them.

I can't defend certain through passes because the AI makes defenders just wander away from their positions though. Also, if I have the ball and see my team mate making a rocket-like darting run, the problem is do I play the pass knowing he WILL get onto the ball through on goal nearly every time, or do I just choose to ignore the pass for the sake of trying to make the game realistic? It's not very good either way.

What about inertia mate , is it same?

People brushed it off as the showcases were supposedly on Regular difficulty.

I don't understand, the CPU in PES has always been hard to break down in past iterations. Even once you'd mastered the game, Top Player always made you have to graft out chances, despite offering nothing in attack.

The game would definitely benefit from much deeper defensive lines, for both sides. Wouldn't solve the issue but would diguise it somewhat.

Are you using basic or advanced through balls? Maybe advanced would not make it so easy, but you got a point. Too much space at the back when the ball is lost. I think once the ball is lost teams should drop back. Not park the bus, but just retreat to their own half, and defense lines drop a little deeper. Also, CPU passes shouldn't be as accurate, and their ball control should be toned down a bit. That should help.

We're playing on superstar so I guess it's harder for a reason. I'm going to try different difficulties to see if there are any differences, hopefully.

I do not experience this , just played 5 games, are you on full manual?

I've been thinking the same thing about defensive lines, I think reducing them would help. That's what's so frustrating about this, is that for 90% of the time the game is hard to break down, on Superstar at any rate, but then it's almost as if for the sake of excitement the game opens up the defences and allows a clear chance on goal without having to really do anything.

Oh and I also thought the same about Gamescom, those videos must have been on low difficulties. It's improved on Superstar, but still evident.

I still think part of the problem is this disparity between stationary players, or players lightly jogging, and those motoring through the middle at full speed. The attacking player at full speed travels far too fast to be remotely realistic and doesn't afford more stationary players the chance to accelerate and react in time.

I dunno. I'll try the retail version but if it carries on then I'm gonna have to sell it. I can't put up with a football game that makes central defenders run off in different directions, or that forces one v one situations through AI incompetence.

Yep, though sometimes I've been playing on one bar assistance. Problem is that it's not always with lofted through balls either, that last video I showed happens in my game quite a lot. Defenders off the ball, on both teams, just wandering off from their positions and then players bursting into that space at unrealistic sprint speeds, with no-one around them reacting.

Like I say, every time I see my striker make a fast forward run I now have a dilemma in my head whether to play the obvious pass knowing it will almost certainly get him in the clear, or just ignore it for the sake of trying to make the game better. That's not a good situation for a football game.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

they have absolutley nailed the L1 close control. Watching veratti from PSG and he does this exactly like they have implemented in game

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

shame for the edit mode, some decent faces could be done but those very few not even common hairstyles pfffffff....where is that mohawk like hair everyone uses nowdays???

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Thanks! BTW i just read that in the retail version there's a graphic downgrade compared to the demo. Could you confirm that please?

Here is an image:
