Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I hope nobody is playing on superstar. Its broken. Stick to Professional and World Class.

Broken how. I tried it for a few matches, when playing as a slightly inferior team I was beaten in possession, playing as UDT vs Boca I had the majority of the possession and opportunities. Seemed very balanced yet challenging.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Well i think I'm pretty much done for now. The game is starting to click more and more but the rubbish time limit is just too restricting. I'll stick to the FIFA demo for now.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Ok, after testing XBOX version i tend to agree that this demo is graphically gutted for obvious reasons.

Here is a comparison pic PES14 vs FIFA14 on XBOX360. Please zoom it at max to see the details.

tWVSFT8.jpg

In 1st pic we have cutscene HQ textures (ive imported Steaua Bucharest's HQ homekit for testing purposes), on the 2nd pic we have actual low-res textures that we will get during the match (non-cutscenes).

Now, in 3rd and 4th pic we have HQ textures from Fifa 14, textures that we will get during the match.

It's obvious that Fifa graphics it's better, way better.. i wonder why? Short time for KONAMI to optimise the engine for consoles?

Obviously you cant see the ugly FIFA's models that have broken shoulders, fingers like Krugers hands, typical ape FIFA uglyness...

translation

in edit mode, you can change the name and the skills of the players, uniforms, badges, stadiums and chants
edited players and stadiums can be used in several modes..
It's descripting the usual "Stadium Rename" feature.

In theory...

It's Konami, you know.

Player Cards

Speeding bullet?

Right so if you want to do skills press and hold R3 then use r3 direction shifts to do skills, bit like doing fireballs in streetfighter 2

Just pressing R3 flicks the ball up

If you hold r3 then press it twice this happens

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Just sinked my first hour in this demo.
Have to say, PES it is this year. I've got a few complaints but fundamentaly it's satisfying and very refreshing. My mind is pretty damaged by FIFA though and it's only ever so slowly coming to grips with the freedom on offer in this PES. Manual control skills from FIFA finally translate well to PES as the control is very smooth and multi dimensional and with players that combine good close control and some pace you can really do some damage, dance between the lines or punish them with a wicked through ball after luring two, three players to close you down. I can't dribble for shit - not a single dribble, but it's still possible to find space to shoot. If I knew how to dribble I'd probably feel the need to bump up the difficulty (playing Professional now I think).
Problems with it are mostly technical and aesthetic for me.
Graphics are poor on PS3, nowhere near the screenshots released before the demo. Textures from close are flat, skin tones plastic and ugly. Main problem though are cutscenes and it's twofold. First they are choppy with poor framerate and second they are awful and come up too often. I was bored of them after two matches and I haven't played PES since PES 2011 (they were the same then). Also general design of this game is stuck somewhere in year 2000. I don't like their crappy logo, don't like the menus, the fonts and the vast majority of the interface design apart from the formation screen. But I can live with it, it's a small price to pay for good gameplay because that's what will keep me coming for more. Just wish it played a bit smoother on PS3, you can see that the hardware is struggling (or the programmers were struggling with the engine).

Good job Konami - a brave and determined step towards recreating what matters in a game of football.

Also, for those that didn't know (like me) defending using the right stick is FAR more effective than using X.

Only issue it's virtually impossible to do that at the same time as holding square to get a teammate to come help. Need another thumb!

Any tips on heading? Any time I play a cross/long ball towards heads I might as well just give the ball away. Same with goal kicks. Is there some combination of keys I need to use to get my player to try and actually do something rather than just standing and watching?

So you just push R stick towards the opposition player? Can someone show this in video form? Also how do you set ATT/DEF level? Do I have to pause every time and change it?

Yes, hard to play this game on such very short time. This game needs at least 10 mins up to show its full potential

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

good game, but player manual switch very slow and game overall lags a bit. Konami fix cursor change response and gameplay lag and you have a winner.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Played about three games today and at firs it was kind of 'Meh' but I was coming around too it by the 3rd game.

The main problem for me is, I love to dribble and at the moment I have no idea how that systems works.

I ended up getting the best results when I stopped pressing R2 or even R1 and just turned and sprinted with players like Nani and Ronaldo.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

So I've played about 10 matches as a fixed player with iniesta and god he is just soo good. He is the only player that I've played with so far the sprints with the ball ridiculously close to he's feet. I can sprint and turn players soo easily.

Using the fixed cursor and playing as one player is a great way to get used to the dribbling and get a feel for the individualility

I'm starting to get the hang of it myself. took a few matches though.

I can't be the only one that's noticed the regional crowd sounds when goals are scored. The Spanish crowd sounds Spanish, the English crowd sounds English :D

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Didn't Konami mention an online league mode a few months back? That's what I was looking forward to the most (as well as 11v11).

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Bet they'll butcher beyond repair! Hurray for 12year olds with Twitter accounts!

I think that I know exactly how they are going to "fix" this and this can be reverted , for the PC version anyway :)

Perhaps. I'd be lying if I said that defenders don't appear to magically gravitate your players when you're sprinting. On the other hand it's not THAT bad and it would pain me to see them go too far in the other direction and end up having pace be the deciding factor in matches. He did say elements of the, "catch up bug." Sounds like minor tweaks to me, but even one small change could be detrimental to the game as a whole. We shall see.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Winning Eleven 2014 demo is better and thats a fact! more polished and strangely enough not framerate problems.

Kabira is the man lol bring back memories
