PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I am not too concerned with Asim's impressions for two reasons:

- First: big changes take time getting used to them. "Slow" is a relative impression. Slow response relative to the pace you play at, I guess. We have been playing games that have been waaaaaay too fast when compared to the usual pace in real football. It makes sense, as we don't have 90 minutes per game, but for what I'm reading and seeing, PES 2014 seems to want us to take things calmly, to slowly build up your play, to focus on precision and well chosen accelerations. Inertia has been almost non-existant in the past. This is not Super Mario Bros., instant response to controller input is not the main goal here. Realistic response is what makes a difference, and especially when comparing how different players react to the same situation. Here's hoping that what Asim perceives as "lag" is different between players. I would love to see Essien stumble to react to a bounce ball and Ribery quickly change direction and steal that same bounce ball.

- Second: This is still preview code. PES 2013 changed enormously between Demo 1 and Demo 2, which showed what a difference small tweaks can make. I personally loved PES 2013, it brought back the feeling of PS2's gems, but I'm ready to move on and enjoy a different, deeper game. If Asim's concerns are not a reflection of intentional changes in pace, but plain misadjustments in game tweaking, I believe Konami still has time to take this constructive feedback and polish these aspects.

Overall, I was happy with ISS in the Super NES. I enjoyed ISS Pro Evolution in the PSOne. I had lots of fun with the WE/PES saga in PS2. I was sorely disappointed with PES2008 in the PS3 and when FIFA09 came I jumped ship. I am now tired of the same mechanics, the same build up, the same situations. It's time to move on.

PES 2014 will not be perfect. Not at all. But I'm hoping that it will be quite a different take on the beautiful game. Technically it seems to be quite awesome. Gameplay will take time getting used to, but I'm ready to put the time and effort in it in order to have a small taste of what football games will look like in the future.

And I thank Konami for taking the first step towards taking us there.

Euro 2008 was a good game but I couldn't deal with the poor shooting. Had to let it go.
Not a big deal at all but like some have said, menus look poor.

Guys but no one knows yet what format will the files? I have heard of cpk, was present in these pes 11 for psp version if I remember correctly

WC 2010 all the way guys.Simon Huber was taken from being senior producer of Fifa after that amazing game. And now Fifa became arcade-fast paced cheap and monoton game and I especially mean 2013.Wish Konami could be able to hire him..

Asim said about old feeling Pes 2014 in negative but for me is awesome. Maybe he want something totally new, but Konami created Pes 2014 like old Pes with new technollogy. Brillant :)

+1

I'm all for a quick menu system but christ, they look like something from a browser-based flash game, written by a kid on his school holidays.

We're not talking about the game, but we're talking about menus. Not the game, not the game but the menus. I mean we're talking about menus. Not the game but the menus.

Riiiight, OK, and what's your point in relation to my previous post?

Comeon. It's only fair that the equivalent of Beckham's hair followers, from the EA forum, would be on here as well.

True enough, but at least those moaning about Beckham's hair are complaining about an aspect of a player who is centre stage - actually part of the game on the pitch. Who really gives a tiny damn what the bloody pitch side security are wearing??

Incidentally, have they lifted your ban yet? Mine's been lifted - shouldn't have got banned in the first place as I did nothing wrong - but I CBA to go back there. Besides anything else, I'm not seeing anything in Fifa 14 PC that's encouraging me to shell out another £25 this year.

Sadly I think he's talking about a lot of the game's annoyances rather than the good stuff from previous PES games.

Thankfully though he didn't mention player switching, just one game in a month in PES2013 made me want to snap the disc in two. 16 shots on target to 1, I lose 1-0 in the 80th minute when the COM crosses into the box to absolutely no-one, the game flips out and starts removing the cursor from every player near the ball and then makes all my defenders run away from it, leaving a lone attacker to score in about 20 yards of space. Every time something like that happens.

Pleeeease fix this in 2014!!

But how will KONAMI stay alive? EA must leave them a tiny space to dominate again!

imagination & fantasy has left football games. I remember when PES games on PS2 used to awe us like in PES1 every time you won a ML you got a star above your badge.

Or on PES2 Ronaldo was default injured and if you played exhibition match he was injured. Only if you did a ML he'd eventually recover( in a way, it was an early form of live seasons).

Or Like in PES3 if a player got injured during play, he'd be patches up with a bandage.

I don't really know why. But I feel PES2014 will wow us & bring smiles to our face for the first time in Ages

Sorry but i think that only smile will be one on your avatar
PES14 will fail big time

Asim is not at fault, although he certainly could handle things differently. It is those who put too much emphasize on that sole impression and blow things out of proportion. Unlike bootgate, this is not even qualified to be called as "saga". Outside of vocal PES fans circle, i haven't heard such story being mentioned on any other site.

That cautious positive PSM impression, to me does not sounds like a paid or PR write-up. If anything the writer was honest just like Asim and clearly done his homework.

At the end of the day, review, impression are never objectified, it's all subjective. And reviewer have their personal preferences.

People are forming opinions yet haven't played the game nor the demo themselves but rather going on what one person says about a code which wasn't final?

Get real.
