PES 2012 PC Demo talk

I haven't yet played the demo, waiting for the xbox360-version, but from the videos, it looks like Konami recreated PES 5/6 using the engine of PES 2011.

I don't know if I will be happy with that, cause I had hoped Konami would take PES to the next level instead of recreating the classics.

I guess it's like Seabass said, it's a game for the fans, and the majority of fans wished a game that would recapture the magic of PES 5/6 within this current-gen-engine.

Tomorrow I will see if it makes me happy, too.

It's definitely not PES5/6 recreated. Which is a shame in a way.

Shooting in PES has always been more contextual, so even if you don't press the "finesse" trigger button, given the ball and body position you may still do one without pressing anything else than the shoot button.

Of course you can still trigger finesse shots with RT.

Ah, I never notcied it before in older PES games. Mayber I have noticed it more due to the camera is much better which I'm using which is Pitch Side.

Another thing is Skill, I just don't understand it in PES, is there 3 types? one with analogue, one analogue+RT and one analogue+LT?

For the love of PES, someone has to create a way to save the damn in-game profiles, if I have to select my settings one more time, I might go a little bit crazy.

How could they forget about such a basic thing because honestly I refuse to think they did it on purpose. It's a pain in the ass to configure each single time

I can't believe people saying it's like 2011 but better. It's nothing like 2011. Only graphic is similar, even better. Hopefully it's just a 1st demo.

Ok, Can anybody answer well, not a question but.

On FIFA11, press B you shoot narmal, RB+B and its a finesse shot. On PES 2011, press X you shoot normal and X and press RT when the bar is on its a controlled shot (Like FIFA's finesse ones)

So, I was playing the demo and I had a normal shot with Rooney on the edge of the box around the conrer area little thing below to explaine where

_|

When he took the shot, he did a finess shot (controlled) and it curled in just like on FIFA when you do a finess shot. But I never pressed RT when the bar was on the screen. I had another normal shot (just pressing X again) facing the goal and he did a normal shot (Power one). I then had another pressing RT and he did a finess (controlled) shot.

so my question is, have Konami added somthing so that where the position of the ball/player is and where there facing a goal, they will do either a finess (controlled shot) or just a normal power shot (like Gerrard/scholes) but you can also do a finess (controlled) shot whenever you want to by pressing RT?

I believe that in PES, the RT is not a shot modifier as such. The shot type is always dependent on body position.

What RT does is increases the accuracy of the shot, while trading off on the power applied and the time taken for the player to hit the shot. (Moves the player into the closest optimal position, if that makes sense).

I really love the fact that shots curl alot more and that they mostly always curl towards the goal ( just like in real life ).

and btw to the user above when you press RT after the shot it does a finesse shot, when you don't it does a power shot ( most of the times it doesnt curl but sometimes it can ).

They did the same thing last year. I assume it's because they don't save the user profile info.

Also anyone looking for good recording software should look at Bandicam. It's faster than FRAPS and is an overall lighter package. It's what we use at work.

If anyone needs a working version i'll be happy to provide a link, pm me.

Who's everyone rating player wise? Apart from the obvious, I'm liking Pacheco at Penarol and Keirrison at Santos.

Belluschi has been brilliant for me. Granted I was playing on Professional for that one match, but his dribbling and touches were just brilliant. He basically ran the whole show against Napoli.

Still need to get the hang of tackling. It's bloody hard.

What I dont get is why do we have limitations in certain things?

For example the kicking the ball further is a really good feature, but why can we only do it diagonaly or forward when stationary?

For example if someone is running towards you from the right you can't kick the ball far sideways to the left at all, whatever you do even if you hold R1 when you move sideways the player will always have close control on the ball, so we are limited here.

Another limitation is that you can only do shot fake to the sideways and not diagonaly.

I really hope we can do both of these things in all ways because they are nice but limited.

I'm a bit (a lot) biased but I think Porto will again be the nº1 underdog this year. Hulk is beast, Moutinho a maestro, Guarin and Belluschi are the gods of long range shooting.

I've not really had an problems with tackling, what have they changed? I've been using R2 + X since PES5 and it hasn't caused me any problems so far.

game's amazing.

is it just me or everyone experiences blurry screen when switching to gameplay mode from cutscenes? it hurts my eyes so bad lol.

if im not mistaken ive seen videos where during goal kick, you can actually kick the ball anywhere you like, but i dont see it in this demo. can anyone confirm this?

last but not least, how do you stop ibra and robinho? they score so many they get to the point where they dont even celebrate their goals anymore lol.

I am in the minority who think that the shot fake of pes2010 and 2011 was very good.It was more of a "shot cancel" than a feint but it was efficient when done well and it wasn't as nearly limited in directions as the shot feint in 2012

Yeah it was much less 'gamey', in real life shot feints are subtle movements to unbalance the defender. In PES 2012 they've reverted to the overstated swing and dummy that was in the earlier games. I think people prefer it since it's a decent move to beat a player without having to resort to those naff trick moves.

Flick the right analog stick in a player's direction to select him. You can now pass to him.

I'm having a nightmare can't get motion joy to work and just can't use the key pads, Lami has tried to help but i am an idiot on evo-web(not abroad)

Well yea either way, the new shot fake is pretty good too but I would really appreciate if we can use it in 8 ways.

First demo impressions are superb. This game is so much better than PES11 and it feels fantastic. I'm almost in love with this game and it's just a demo. Now i can't wait for the full game.

Definitely, even though they've lost a predator in Falcao, they still have the likes of Hulk and Varela in attack who can do damage. If they sign a centre forward in the Falcao mould then they're going to be a great team to be on PES and still a competitive side in Europe irl.

If you don't get stable constant 60FPS in normal gameplay, you won't get anything near it in cutscenes and replays.

What's the specs of your PC?

I do get 60fps during gameplay. I checked with FRAPS. I have vsync on and frame skipping on, also.

But once I have a replay, or cutscene or anything like that the fps gets halfed.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 370 @ 2.40GHz x 4 ‎(2.40Ghz)‎
4gb RAM
512mb ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 ‎(PS3.0/VS3.0)‎

What do you get on the Settings "Specs" section? All blues and greens? Gone are the days were I knew for sure which specs were good enough lol.

Also, play around with the frame skipping and Vsync settings.

Just played 1 game and must say, it feels very very polished.
On that default pitch cam the players look much better, less tall which is to me a good thing. I've always found that they were too tall compared to the ps2 days.

Shooting seems that it needs some working. More difficult to defend which is very nice.

Can't really tell yet since i've only played 1 half and then my laptop started to overheat......fried eggs anyone?

gameplay: the catch up bug is gone (THANK YOU), and long through balls finally work now. AI still too easy. is it just me or is the pitch a lot bigger? i find it a lot easier to keep possession, but harder to press the opposition. still have yet to master the 2nd player controls, even on automatic. regardless, i won 2-1 first game on top player, Napoli vs Porto =D

layout: stats view will take a while getting used to, now that they split it into 4 sections. not sure i like it. takes a while trying to figure out who's the best FK taker, who's the best capt, etc.

stats: the stats are a bit weird. i'm a bit upset they took away the WB position (maggio should not be a default SMF). also DMF is overrated now. seedorf and hamsik make better DMF's than CMF's apparently

overall, i'm satisfied and still looking forward to the final release

edit: bugs: oh right, the replay logo bug is still there

Ibra is the best player in the game again! He just scores, nothing else.

About defending, I think attackers should back off a little when you are containing them. Instead, they just continue pushing you backward indefinitely!

My last concern is with passing. Lots of my passes end up too short for no apparent reason. I have space, time and a good player but the ball ends up 2m away from him and to the other team after the passer gets locked.

I've noticed this too and I'm playing with passing assist set to zero. I think it may be to do with the fluidity and body positioning like in real life, you have to make sure you're positioned well to kick the ball in accordance with the ball physics, if you get too carried away with the fluid dribbling you can end up tapping the pass button not long enough to reach a player.

Really like it, very fluid with lots of improvements, dribbling was already good in 2011 and took skill and this continues the trend, also better is crossing, and the AI is superb. It seems a touch too fast though even at 0 speed.

I was playing Top Player as Porto vs. Porto in one game with really wide tactics used in team style to stretch the opponents using wing play. Got hammered 5-0, replayed the match, same tactics and snuck a 1-1 draw, having learned how to combat the AI :))

I've been well beaten a few times though, but can generally hold my own with a decent enough win ratio.
