PES 2011 Discussion thread

I am so fcking angry!!!

I went 1on1 with the goalkeeper three times the last match but always from a side angle. And the only options you have is...

a.) into the short corner with power (goalkeeper can parry that)
b.) shot with power into the long corner (always miss the goal)
c.) Try to shot with more accuracy using R2...BUT WAIT! he won't curl the ball around the goalkeeper into the long corner like you would do in real life! There is no fucking spin on it and the keeper just HOLDS the ball in his hands.
d.) try to dribble him. Lovely with that fcking fake shot function! Before he finishs faking the shot all defenders are back.

GIVE ME THE SPIN SHOT WITH R2 BACK!!!!!!!!

how do you set player arrows, this game is frustrating and adictive at the same time... im having a really hard time scoring, havent scored in maybe 10 games... on professional,.. i need to start messing with the tactics some more

You can't. The only way in the demo is to raise or lower the entire team's attack mentality. I'm really confused why Konami took the arrows out, surely they only increased the player's tactical options.

I just noticed something. In the game plan screen, when you click on player details, the very first attribute is att/def awareness or something like that. And you can see there, off/def/bal! That MAY mean that in the final game, you can adjust the attack mindedness.

Just posted on my twitter that it looks like french site www.jeuxvideo.com are reviewing the game tonight at midnight (France time).

Just for comparison they gave:

PES2008 15/20
PES2009 14/20
PES2010 15/20
FIFA 10 16/20

Looks like you are right:

Underlined in yellow: If something can be switched off ( uit ), you can also switch it on, I would say :)

( Aanv/verd houding = attacking/defensive mentality )

No, in Dutch it is "UIT" ( off ) Offensive is AANVALLEND in Dutch, so that is not the case...

I'm sure it's Off for offensive. Other players have Def for Defensive or Bal for Balanced.

Robben (I think) has something weird though, he has S/Off, not sure what this means

Shank, I'm pretty sure pushing diagonally doesnt add direction and height at the same time. System makes you choose direction first, then height. Can you get penalty shootouts now on your game? I really don't know how I unlocked it, and haven't seen anyone else mention that they have it on their game. Maybe I completed an achievement, like failing to beat Barca 15 games in a row :))

Sorry mate didn't realise you had replied. Yes I can get penalties in the game now thanks! I've scored a dink penalty lol. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah I noticed Robben has S/Off. I took this to mean semi-offensive? haha not sure at all. Guess we'll just have to wait for the final game.

Could somebody be so kind to help me to understand how feints actually work please?

I can't quite figure it out. I've looked at a tutorial on youtube but it didn't really help. Cheers.

I never tried Top Player. I'm always on Professional and get hammered by Barca. Last one was 4-0 I think. PS3 here.

I've only played on Professional too (on PS3). I'm getting a good challenge on this level. I'm not getting hammered and winning my fair share of games. I need to give Top Player a try but at the moment I'm quite happy on Professional.

In which way bud ?

I think i might be ok actually. I've mastered the Ronaldo Chop...in a way. Haha.

I'll get back to you if i do need some more help though. I'll be looking through your penalty tips at some point though. I'm 0 out of 6 so far. You could say i'm on a role. :SMUG:

Your consistent I'll give you that.

I find Kleber for Internacional has very deceptive pace. He is actually alot slower than he looks. :CONFUSE:

I played around with the Management Edit tactics last night, they are very good. I like the fact you can preset tactics based on intervals during the match and for situations like being level, being ahead, and trailing. For example, I set it for All-Out Attack if I either went behind on goals or was level between 60-90 minutes. Also, If I was leading with 30 mins to play, I preset my tactics to defensive possession. So many different options you have available to you, so you can plan in advance for any eventuality, and let your players change tactics to suit with immediate effect.

Also, for the first time that I can ever remember, on any PES game, I played with Barcelona. Oh my lord, after playing only with the Copa teams, the difference was like night and day. None of the teams I ever play with in PES even has one player that I can honestly say is anywhere near the level of any Barcelona player. To have 10 players of this class made the game very easy. This is one of the reasons I dont play with these type of teams. As fun as it is to have everything on a plate for you, I dont find it as much of a challenge. Some of the goals I scored, and the football that was created, really was the epitome of sexy in the footballing context.

One thing is forsure though, playing exclusively with the lesser teams, massively improves your game, as alot more thought is needed. When you then go from playing with the likes of Lille, Peru, Chivas and Internacional, to the likes of Barcelona, you feel like greatest PES player that has ever lived. :WOOT:

how do u do tactics for invidual players? Yea i agree playing against weaker teams improves you. last night i was ghana playing against holland and managed a 1:1 draw on top player :WORSHIP:

The attack and defence level works now with select and R2/R1....I hope someone can make a patch to make it back the way it was...

Just use manual pass and you can score every time. Hold LT and pass into net, the keeper is decieved easily every time because it is not a scripted shot that the cpu keeper is scripted to save, but a manual pass, so the cpu keeper "does not compute", and a goal is scored.

On the demo, I win 3-0, 4-0, 5-0, 6-0 every time now, as the manual pass is an easy goal. It also proves that :square: shooting in PES is scripted, as the cpu controlled keeper can save :square: shots 99 times out of 100, but saves manual pass shots 1 time out of 100.

Haha i've noticed exactly the same thing. But Nei (i think is his name) on the opposite flank is surprisingly quick and strong. It doesn't matter anyway. My play goes through the star man in the middle. :WORSHIP:

First PES2011 reviews are in! With the embargo finally dropping the first reviews are in for PES2011.

Videogameszone.de are first off the mark and there review which scores the game a very creditable 86% can be found HERE.

JVN were not far behind and their 16/20 review can be read HERE

Both reviews of course come with some new screens to take in.

A decent start for the game regards scores, with no doubt more to come thick and fast over the coming days and weeks.

Yep, some very good scores, I agree with most of their points, can't believe they never picked up on the crossing issues though, defender stopping 3 yards short of byeline.

Oh btw, I have updated my blog since my original impressions a couple of weeks back, still very positive but with some new findings thrown in, in case anyone thinks I am a mole. :))
