PES 2011 Discussion thread

Individuality is everything. I'm absolutely loving D'Alessandro for Internacional, what an amazing little player he is. His touch is just stunning, his right foot is a bit hit and miss, but his left foot is like a wand. Magical. He is my playmaker supreme, and the only real player in the Internacional team capable of that killer pass. I play everything through him, and the way he plays reminds me so much of Riquelme. His dribbling skills are off the map, although he isnt fast, he doesnt need to be, as he is just sooooo technical in everything he does.

My next video will be a tribute to D'Alessandro, it's currently a work in progress, but oh my, it's looking good so far. :)

Also, I must say that the feints are tricks are pretty much pointless unless your attempting them with a player with good to high dribbling skills. I feel alot better about this now. I've spent hours and hours attempting tricks with the whole of my team, and you just end up giving away possession cheaply. D'Alessandro is now the only real player I use when attempting feints, his technique is so much tighter with the feints, he is the only player that consistently retains possession in this area.

D'Alessandro used to be my favourite player, back in the day when Footy Manager was Champ Manager. :BOP:

I agree 100% - D'Alessandro is a magician!

The only thing i'm struggling with (coming back from FIFA like most of us) is the freekicks. I can't seem to get them curling much. Has something changed with them?

PS - G-Force - Sorry about Darlo getting bounced from the league :BYE: (Pools fan here!)

I'm in the same boat as you, coming back from FIFA where they were easy as hell.

In PES you have to use the modifiers to properly place your free kicks. Use :triangle: for a powerful shot (less curl), :x: for a weak shot (but more curl), press d-pad up for an extremely powerful shot and d-pad down for a very weak attempt. Scored two or three now, I'm getting the hang of it.

Dont forget to hold left or right on your left stick, or D-Pad for bend. Also, massively important, hold X to apply dip after the ball is struck if required.

I've scored about 3 free kicks i think in this game. Some via very rare and realsitic deflections (I'm never going to score that goal again type goals)! It's different from PES 2010 but the principals are the same more or less. It's always taken skill to score free kicks in this game even on the shit PES 2008, 2009 it took skill :)

The key with this game is: (Take a look at the players stats regarding free kick accuracy, shooting accuracy and shot power :) )

1. First make your mind up what free kick you want. (Swerve, direct/powerful, over the wall etc..)
2. Then make sure you line it up perfectly as you want
3. Make sure you press the left analog stick BEFORE you press the shoot button.
4. Away it goes!

Of course, how could I forget:JAY:

Didn't know about applying dip though, can't wait to try it out when I get home.

Hopefully mate, juce has'nt let us down yet. :WORSHIP:

Juce should love this game hopefully. he said he was unhappy with PES over the last few years so wasn't putting much effort into kitserver which i could understand. HE should love this game though so here's to bringing a even better kitserver tot he table this year :)

Very glad that there are other D'Alessandro fans.
I'm looking forward to that video Jimmy.
Did you guys know that he played an half season for Portmsouth a couple of years ago?

About the nets, I think they need to have less opacity and square texture instead of hexagonal. If the posts are white it's all better already. This is the best I've got in pes2010 pc:

I remember that like it was yesterday. He's was their best player. Strange move it was though  . Was brilliant at Zaragoza the season after :WORSHIP:

He's great on the game but a right bastard to play against. Nuisance! sets up all of Inters chances, defends doggedly! and keep's fucking scoring from free kick's against me :(

Thanks for tips. I don't understand your point #3 though. Holding the analog stick before pressing shoot changes the whole aim of the shot (for me in PES 2010).

Can you please clarify?

Say if you want to curve the ball right, make sure you hold the left stick to the right THEN press the shot button :)

Any hope for the PS3 jaggy graphics, I have a 1080P set, but it defaults to 720P, not sure if this even makes a difference, but even in replays it looks low res. Apart from this minor flaw it is the best footy game I have ever played! I love the fact that you really have to be careful where and how you pass the ball, it makes it more realistic. The individuality of players is also immense, Messi being the prime example, something the rival game can never match imo. Roll on 8th October!

He probably meant before the player takes the shot, when the power bar is starting to fill. :)

My method, is either push up, down, or leave the D-Pad central before you press shoot. Either one depends on whether you require a hard, driven strike, a more delicate dink, or the standard. I then tap shoot and push the direction I wish to bend the ball, left or right. As I'm holding left or right, I then re-tap and hold shoot till the power bar reaches the required estimated level. If I over-cook the power bar, I hold X as soon as the ball leaves my players boot, to apply dip. I always keep my stick pushed either left or right for the bend during this time. :)

Edit - This system answers your question Bendit. It's the reason you retap the shot button after you have initially pressed it. Once you have nailed this method, then it's all about getting yourself familiar with the set-piece taker, because they are all different in stance, style, technique.

Don't worry about Albert. Same old re-reg.

About the 360 demo, I thought I read somewhere that it's finally coming out on the 15th.

Everybody keeps scorin from free kicks. The CPU needs toning down in this regard; it's almost a penalty.

I heart D'Alessandro too. He and Romagnoli (hence the name) were legendary in my CM4 game. Neither quite turned out to be the world beaters they were expected to become, sadly.

I was actually struggling to get the most out of Dallas until yesterday. Scored a tidy goal with him that actually demonstrated the importance of making space for yourself. Last minutes of the game, trailing by a goal, I had all my players pushed right up. Kleber passed infield to Guizano (guessed that, can't remember his name!). He touched the ball towards goal before prodding it into the path of Dallas, who had dropped off the front line by a yard or two to stand just behind the DMF. As the ball approached I could have taken the touch straight towards goal and risked being dispossessed; instead I cut outside of the retreating defender, gaining some space and opening the body up for a comfortable sidefoot shot at the near post. The space to shoot into was created by that touch outside which meant I could whip it round the defender, out of the line of sight of the keeper. It's one of those goals that isn't flashy or OMFG inspiring, but is an elegant reminder of how the game can come together and make decent goals feel immensely satisfying. I'll upload it at some point.

Oh, and up+triangle when the shot gauge is up leads to some pretty terrifying free kick power. Hit the post with one from 35 yards or so - fearsome stuff.

That Argentina team of Romagnoli, D'Alessandro and Saviola *drools*

Are you serious? I thought people hated the nets mainly because of how they reacted, but the look? Really?

They react fairly nice on the PC. The graphic is clearer and it looks pretty much (in game) like it looks on a ps3 replay....where you can see the detail properly.

On the ps3, the netting looks really heavy and dominating, especially when zoomed. The reaction is over the top on both the PC and the PS3, but yeah it's the look, particularly on the consoles, that are the problem for me.

To be honest mate, i was sure everybody who hated the nets hated them because of how they look. I was thinking the opposite of you. Haha.

Either way, it's not a game-breaking problem.

I must be the only one who loves the nets in pes2010.I love the way they stretch when you hit a hard shot, makes me laugh all the time and it gives that extra special feeling to screamers whereas in FIFA it's all dull

i have beaten the big teams online with all sorts of minnows from everywhere just i felt that those players i was able to beat were all just shit

Come up against a half decent player with a small team and you really have no chance! I mean if i was Barca and someone played against me with West Brom, there is no way in hell he's beating me!

It can be very hard against decent players. I usually play a defensive style and counter attack. It's still possible to beat them, but you'll have to work very hard with the small teams!

Amazing player. Not much pace and a feeble body balance but he makes up for it by having unbelievable technique. I always use to build my Real Zaragoza team around him in PES 5/6. He's been a bit of a journeyman though and never fully realised his potential in real life, but at his best he's right up there.

Can we stop going on about the nets for gods sake. I understand people want perfection but it's a game guys. Let PES get back to basics first as it has done then the little things like nets, dirty kits, untucked shirts I'm sure will return. But in reality people complaining about these things has backed Seabass into a corner and explains why pes slipped behind FIFA briefly in some peoples eyes because everyone was complaining about those things as opposed to how the actual game should be evolving!

Anyway in the Beta Beckham was my obvious choice for free kick taker. I found you only needed a hint of power because if the way he struck the ball also I aimed for the post alot due to his high curve ability. I held up on the D-Pad as it gave just enough to get over the wall which produced ferocious powerful freekicks which were always on target.

jimmy have you a link for the championship optionfile you used in pes 2010? im starting my prep work for the new 2011 file and if i could load up all the championship teams from pes 2010 to pes 2011 it would save me alot of time

Spot on Klash, this was my way of thinking, he loves/loved pes so he will surely love this one.

He just has the most beautiful feet, his control is on a different level. And his left peg is so cultured, he could hit postage stamp from 50 yards. If I'm honest, playing with Internacional pretty much exclusively has eased my mind with regards the individuality and the semi-auto system. It takes alot of games with the same team before you get to know what all your players are capable of, and their consistency levels. Hell, it took me 4 months with Lille before I worked out exactly what my strongest starting eleven was. Anyway, D'Alessandro's passing is sublime, so much better than any other player on my team, and massively noticable when you look for it. He does have the Passer Player Card, so you would expect it, but I'm so happy that Konami havent lost any individuality in this area by implementing this new system. Any reservations I still may have had were banished last night when I focused on Alessandro for 4 hours. Brilliant.

Also, Sandro is a beast in the DMF role. I think I change maybe 5 players from the default starting eleven, and the team feels so much better for it.
