PES 2011 Discussion thread

I just had another out of my seat moment.

Managed to score a great goal but it was a minor detail that I loved.

I crossed a ball in, it got headed clear and then boom, first time volley from Schweinsteiger, edge of the box, and it flew into the corner from 25 yards.

What amazed me was on the replay, Thomas Muller was about 12 yards out, saw the shot coming at him, and properly ducked really low down to get out of the way, he turned his head whilst down, saw it was in, then jumped up both arms aloft.

Just speechless when you see stuff like that.

Awesome :D

Hi All,

can anyone tell me why can't Konami add the J-League to the game pes2011 as a licesed league as they have the license ?????

Pretty simple, the J.League commitee won't allow licensing of anything concerning the league outside of Japan.

They even go as far as taking down Youtube videos and sueing people who put up websites in foreign languages with photos and stuff. They're cunts.

And I thought the Premier League were utter fuds when it comes to intellectual property, seems as if they are still miles behind the J.League in that respect!

No. I really like this game, but when an intelligent player like Messi is standing near the touchline, can see the entire defensive line yet still refuses to get out of his offside position that's plan stupid. Not once, but usually a few times every game. As I said I think this is a massive step forward and I praise Konami for their effort but that doesn't make them oblivious to criticism.

That then is a bug. Make sure Konami hear of it for PES2012.

Perhaps in future they could have an additional feature ie propensity to get caught offside.

Certain players like Inzaghi are well known for being caught offside a few times each game and likewise annoying the fans and manager whereas others are rarely caught.

Perhaps there is some way you can tweak a players tactical plan to reduce it ?

Not ideal though.

I'm affronted by the fact I've not sussed how to beat Barca yet! Obsessive personality or summat. I keep thinking each time I reboot that I'll play the Copa teams but something in my mind keeps saying 'that lanky tit and the little gnome just embarrassed you. Are you gonna let that lie?'

Getting that strategic win should hopefully get that monkey off my back. I'll mix it up this weekend even if it hasn't. To be honest though I'm missing the whole MLO sense of progress - can't help but feel a lot of people would have got a much better sense of the individuality and the gulf in AI quality between PES and FIFA (in PES's favour) if they were playing something like MLO.

As for crossing, I know all that but it's more the application I seem to struggle with. I seem to keep missing my target.

I can buy into that, and I fully emphasise with your predicament. So get them beat, put it to bed, and get with the programme. What I love about the lesser teams is that everything is so much more balanced and realistic. If one of your lesser players scores a 30 yard stunner, you never forget it, ever. If Ibra or Messi, Klose or Ribery score the same goal, it's almost forgotten in an instance, they are ten a penny.

I really dont understand people's reaction to the referees, I think they are brilliant overall. People need to start to learn the art of defending in PES 2011, Konami have given us a system now where skill and technique is required, also perfect timing and the ability to judge distance. It winds me up that people cannnot see this. How about you stop running into your opponent and pressing X. This isnt like any other PES, you simply cannot do this anymore, neither can you run into a player with L1 and expect just to win the ball. This is so much more advanced. Defending is an art form, learn it.

You now have the ability to stick in a leg, so time it right, and you will not give away silly needless fouls. I have played over 100 games so far on this new demo, and these are the best referee's I have seen. Of course their is the odd yellow card when it could have been red, and there is the odd cynical challenge that goes unpunished, and vice versa, but this is football, and referees are not perfect in real life. PES 2011 does a very good job of replicating this, easily the best referee's I have seen in PES.

The referee does blow alot on Top Player, and against the CPU, which is great. Top Player AI is notoriously brutal in this regards, they play total spoiler tactics, but at least they are getting penalised for it, and I'm getting a setpiece out of it. Which are very dangerous in the right hands. The only time I give away silly fouls with the X is when I'm being lazy or not concentrating. I know when I've just stuck a foot at the wrong time, and 8 times out of ten I'll get pulled for it. And so I should.

Learn how to defend properly and forget everything you ever knew, or whatever worked before, because now it's real, and if you cannot appreciate that then more fool you.

I love the sound of this. It sounds a lot like with PES 5, if you don't time it right and clip a player's leg then it's a freekick, just like in real life. That was one of the best parts of PES 5 and most people hated it so they removed it for PES 6. Sounds like the art of defending is finally back and I hope all the haters can't convince Jon Murphy and the gang to once more remove it for PES 2012 and make it arcady again.

for the people who dont know how to push their fullbacks forward go into edit set piece taker and scroll down to the bottom and the option is there players to join attack , now just click on your fullbacks and notice the immediate difference in thier attacking movements

I think that Fifa has gotten almost everything right except gameplay and player attributes. They are so close, but yet so far away...

Their player models have improved immesely. The likenesses of the player models to their real life ones are eeringly realistic. The graphical detail from a distance on any camera angle is bar none. It's a beautiful looking game, but lifeless at it's core due to the absence of the above mentioned gameplay factors. I beleive they will get there eventually, hopefully sooner than later.

PES11 on the other hand has that breath of life, that flowing emotion of joy when you score a goal after working so hard. It has that randomness that no other futbol sim has offered thus far. I would marry this princess with it's ugly exterior and beautiful interior any day of the week. Gameplay is the real reason why I am still hooked to this master piece.

Until FIFA can reach the pinnacle of success in terms of gameplay in their games, I will remain faithful to my ugly but at the sametime beautiful princess that's PES11.

IMO PES11 looks just as good as fifa 10 if not better. The player likeness and overal players body and shape is better than fifa's. Also the kits dont look as if their glued to the players body like in fifa.

Nice soundtrack. Who is that?

@expander I always knew you where a FIFA troll tsk, tsk for playing the I love PES role so well then doing a 360 to say FIFA 10 AI is better thereby making it a better game....sad. You probably going to post a 10 page essay on your awesomeness but I think I'ld rather go have some fun playing that inferior football game

queen's of the stone age, great band

im pretty happy with the referee's strictness. its spot on. i can easily see someone mimic an arsenal vs blackburn game in this ie a player who is great at passing and another guy who does little niggly tackles to stop your passing game.

Im loving it.

Anyways as a side note, is shopto a safe place to buy this game? i heard they use to clone peoples cards?

I agree with you Jimmy there is no spamming the x to steal the ball but I am sliding 99% ball from the front or even just taking it away properly and I get punished by Judge dredd.

I've even found that I have passed a ball continued a run and the whistle gets blown because the player that passed clipped another player accidentally as he went past him, which is beyond my control that's not right mate.

As for the lower league teams. There is so much dribbling skill in the South American teams check out my nutmeg sorry about the quality. I watched it over 20 times also see the bad South American defending lol. I love this game, the full version is going to consume my life.:WORSHIP:

Really liking this demo, for the first time in years I really get the feeling I am going to have to learn everything all over again.

Started with defending which I'm slowly getting used to. All it takes is the right timing, getting less fouls now.

Already had some great games, but it is still difficult to let everything go you used in the previous games. So only once in a while I manage to set up a decent attack and even then my finishing isn't what it used to be.

I am a PES player who feeds of quick counter attacks, that's how I always played the game. Always agains mates or other people I end up with max 40% possesion but most of the times I end up winning the game. Yesterday I had a great game against the CPU on Top Player. I was Bayern against Barca. Most of the game took place on the midfield but around the 70' minute Barca started pressing more and more, which left them exposed for counter attacks.

I managed to set up one quick attack which resembles everything that the new PES 2011 is. Notice how Muller let's the ball go twice and still continues his run to give the final pass, too bad I can't finish. In previous PES games he would have taken the ball already.

Sorry for the crap quality, made it quickly with my blackberry and the real life footage is much slower.

Troll, lol, last night i was playing bayern vs barca and everytime ribbery was in a good position to cross my fullback would run in a vertical strait line into ribbery and knock him off the ball,my fullback had know idea ribbery was there and just followed a typical maths sub routine ai behaviour.

This happens alot as welll as defenders just stopping if the man there trying to intercept is just ahead of them, they just walk off and try and resume there default position regardless of whats happening and how dangerous the situation is.Defenders also on top player dont get tight on crosses they let dangerous forwards amble into space for easy headers and theres so many different variables where this happens across the pitch.

Im just not in denial and come next week and the release of the final game the real hardcore and vocal will be pointing these issues out more and more.

This is not the promised land, theres problems with the ai in which your teamates have know sense of where there other teamates are they just follow standard lines and there are delays when shooting and passing.

Its going to be a 7/8 at best come review time, theres still to many core problems with the game,it has to be better.

There's problems yes I mention them myself but to jump ship and claim FIFA 10 AI is better is rubbish mate, have you played FIFA10? Oh well beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Why is there such a huge sense of reality with these goals. :TTTH:

I find it a little sad that this guy is now commonly reffered to as "Fat Ronaldo", wheres the respect?

There is only ONE Ronaldo!

There a metroseuxal, commercial, over-hyped one which has never got near tot he true class of THAT RONALDO so that why i refuse to Call Cristiano anything other that just Cristiano!

I know, some of the ball watching is ludicrous!

jimmy I don't mind if the refs are strict, but when they get calls plain wrong like clean sliding tackles from head on being given as penalties (I've got one of a fair few on my phone but can't be arsed to get a YouTube account etc just yet) then it switches from being strict to being random. If they were random in a human way that wouldn't be a problem.

I cant stop smiling. Awesome. :)

I have just made a 9 minute video with alot of new footage I captured last night from my Copa games. There is some unbelievable feints pulled off against the Top Player AI, always nice. Another one for my free-kick scrapbook, some excellent manual long balls, and the new reverse stepover feint that I have just about mastered. Also a lovely nutmeg off a volleyed first touch which is sublime, the CPU didnt think so though as he clattered me again.

This game just keeps getting better, it is truly phenomenal for a demo this. :CONFUSE:

I've not seen that problem yet to be honest. In fact last night, I got away with two very cynical challenges. I couldnt believe I didnt get pulled for them, not slide tackles, but foot in challenges. I thought to myself, I love that, in any of the 100 games I had played, the ref would have blew for an infringement. He didnt, and I thought it added even more realism with regards the referees perception of the challenge.
