PES 2011 Discussion thread

Doesn't this slightly negative preview of the game sound amazing to us die-hards, I mean he only scored 1 goal in 4 games dammit!

This preview is a ringing endorsement of the game, he couldn't sprint spam, defending works, long shooting is hard, passing is harder and he needed more assistance.

Play more than four games next time Slugger. :))
Couldn't have said it any better. Those 'negatives' sounds like music to my ears!

I love how the reviewer whines about how good the defense is now aswell as long range efforts being harder to score. Cannot fucking wait. Love a hard game of football.

Cannot beleive them reviews. Fifa looks again bland this year. Just fifa WC with gimicky addons. Pes looks and sounds fantastic. I think she is back.

I agree, it all sounds like a good game of football to me.

I feel a bit sorry for the development team behind Fifa, they have to appeal to people like this reviewer as well as the likes of us that want a hardcore simulation. At least the PES team have a clear direction and can cut free and make the game that people like us want.

they can't afford losing more people to fifa :D
So instead of trying to get fifa players they are trying to hold pes players :>

Looks like the theme for reviews this year will be for PES.

Nice game but it's too hard to score, keepers are too good, he defensive Ai is too smart and solid. Too hard to score! Hmm it's a cool but it's maybe too realistic for me. I think I'll stick with FIFA!

:LMAO: :) Just playing guys!

Its dumb. Problem for fifa its good but just becomes tidius and boring and the same old. No one plays on anything other than assisted. Game is the same of ping pong passing give it to a past player so he can rape your defense easy.

Can of of you beta testers tell if the game is more off the rails shall me say i.e for passes and such. When you do a through ball players follow the line and its hard to get them off it. I want total control over my players when doing through balls.

Not hard at all to get out of "rails". I don't think they exist tbh, if you (can) play a slow paced game, without hiting the sprint button more then "20 times" a game, you'll have all the freedom in the world.

Sounds good but those negatives could actually prove to be a problem, we don't know at this point. Speed shouldn't be overpowered but like the writer said, if Messi or Lennon can't beat John Terry running for a ball, then that's no good either. Speed is a weapon after all, so let's hope Konami gets the balancing correct.

I've been extremely impressed with the vids I've seen so far but what has been bothering me is the way passing (and dribbling) appears fixed to a grid and do not seem to deviate from a straight line. Ground passes look as if shot from a cannon and dribbling resembles the movement of a yo-yo. Looks unrealistic imo.

We just gotta wait till the game is out, since some dude posted this here video, and even though Messi scores cause of the bad defenders and their low ratings, people might still yammer on about bla bla bla Messi unstoppable. The internet is a walking contradiction really -.-

Oh and I agree about the passes, you especially notice this in PES 10, and the fact that the ball has no curl at all.

THESE NEGATIVES ARE REALLY MUSIC FOR MY EARS ! Hope its true, and game will be hardcore like hell ! THATS FOOTBALL, hard to score - easy to defend !

Yep , that why so much peоplе love WE9LE and PES 6 ... Mostly for WE9LE where you have total control over the defender and not CPU to decide when to run, where and how like PES 2010

P.S. and again...whaching so much videos ....the shots in MLO are ridicules :x

Passing is better than 2010, don't think they're shot from a cannon at all. Also some passes do have a bit of curl to them, think it depends on the type of pass, like more or less power and player stat.

Most thing I like about this game is the feeling of freedom in everything, specially the ball. Finally, it doesn't feel like it's stuck to a certain path. Loving the organic deflections. Lovely.

Come on, be rational. There are rails and there isn't 'all the freedom in the world'. It's a lot more than 2010 but total freedom is still a marketing buzzphrase rather than an actuality.

Do you have a link for any evidence of that PES equivalent to the right stick knock-on btw? I've always liked the R1 short knock-on into space in PES but I don't really like how the R1+R2 is done or how the player and ball travel in the exact same straight line.

the combination of bad keepers and super accurate long range shots equals one bad recipe.. I really, really hope those were fixed but if not then ... back to pes 6 it is.

And it is not Goalkeepers AI problem or defenders problem...

The shoots are devil...

....both of which are reportedly much better in the latest code. Just wait for the demo.

It's a little unfair to criticise the defending problem when the new defending mechanic isn't even in the MLO beta code.

It seems to me that the people that haven't played the beta are being very negative and looking for faults whereas those that have played it are very positive. I'm sure once the demo hits most of you will love this game.

Seriously, if the retail code (which is what the demo will be based on) is an improvement on the MLO beta then PES2011 will be a very, very solid football game, and potentially the best PES ever. I wouldn't say this if I didn't believe it.

So, people just decided to ignore the article where the reviewer said goal keepers where god-like, you can't sprint past everyone, and long rage shots are not effective as they used to be, to go on and say "videos look arcade, pes2011 is shite"? Ok then.

The one thing I have noticed more and more is the lack of standard volleys in the Beta. There does seem to be an awful lot of the side Scissor Kick animation, even at a lower height. I have only ever hit the target once with this type of shot, but I'd like to see more variation. I'm sure there will be though in the final retail code. :)

Edit- Also, the keepers are pretty good at shot-stopping, no real issues there, but what they do struggle with is the really simple stuff, I'm sure that was what required fixing, and hopefully thats what has been addressed.

I dislike the crossing animation in the beta. I also hope they remove the automated kick offs.
