PES 2011 Discussion thread

for me beta is too much similar to pes2010 what makes me sure that it will be ,,another year'' with pes5(ML) or fifa11(Online/1vs1).

Guess you haven't played it then and only judging from videos. Everyone who's had the chance to play preview or mlo codes have said it's nothing to do with 2010. Don't worry about that it's a different game :)

i'mnot affraid that it will be the same as the previous editions.
And i know i can't judge it unless i've played it.
But there's stuff you can see from watching the vids.
I can see it plays differently. I see people struggling to make spot on passes. Thats all good.
Its just too bad that some of the animations still look off.
The way some passes are give still looks very rigid/robotic. On the other hand, crossing and shooting looks a lot better.

It just continues to amaze me that whenever pes goes next gen, the animations start to suck.
It happened when pes went from playstation 1 to playstation 2. It took them untill pes3 to sort it out. Then pes went to the playstation 3, and the animations in 08,09 and 10 were not good. Now they seem better, but no where near what they should be (in my opinion).

I'm not a fifa man, played pes ever since the ps1, but Konami have got a lot to learn from Fifa where animations are concerned.
I'm not talking about graphics, replays or gameplay....just animations.

Zee,

Who's your left back? Any good? I had Santon for £3.6m but his form rating was 4 an I dont really have the squad to cover for someone who's inconsistent.

I signed Marco Rossi last week as a right back but have moved him to the left; he's a snip at about £2m or so. Very good attack and defence ability for someone at that price - 73 and 71 I think. He's offensively minded which has led to him popping up in the box on occasion. Can be annoying when you want him to stay back!

I bought Behrami for that position but feel a little underwhelmed by his performances he does the job but not worth the money I spent on him. I had Criscito (a CB) playing in that position who was doing an excellent job so try him out. He is also my defensive leader. Also go for a guy called Ponzio he caqn play across the back and in midfield he is a right pain in the arse for my opposition. I seem to have built my squad from the back rather than going for pacy strikers/wingers which is a change from how I usually shopped in PES of old.

nothing to do with 2010 is just not true...sorry.

I'm not saying it's a bad game or so, but it's of course similar to 2010.

In what way? I've tried going back to 2010 but can't at all. Different game in many ways. Passing, shooting, animations fluidity, dribbling, moving with the stick is much better, ball physics organic. Actually the whole thing feels organic. I can't see how its similar to 2010 tbh.

This.

I hope they put some guys 100% on goalkeepers only, like EA does, because the keepers have been pretty bad for a while now and it doesn't look like something a small fix can solve. I think they might have to rewrite a lot of how they work, it just seems way off how they work at the moment (just guessing, what do I know).

Yeah the keepers are really bad. Sort of ruins the whole experience for me as the diving animations take all the joy away from scoring. The actual animations bug me more than the mistakes they make.

The main problem stems from the ball & nets imo. If you look when you're playing, the ball is slightly too small. The nets also look slightly too big for the keeper. In reality, they probably aren't, and it's more to do with the depth of the net (or lack of) that actually makes them look so high and wide. So small ball, big nets, keeper with poor animations/poor AI generally means scoring won't be very satisfying.

The keepers just don't command the nets like a proper keeper does. It's like sticking one of your mates in net, and he doesn't really play football, let alone know how to be a good keeper.

The keeper animations on pes6 were pretty good, and the nets were box like, and the ball seems bigger to me.

I think it's not similiar to PES 2010 at all, but not "A NEW PERFECT GAME" as many are saying... to me, the players still looks like Robots, the move and feints is very, VERY ARTIFICIAL YET.

And i really can't see 360° directions and motion-capture as Konami promissed.

more lies this year konami?

Do you have any idea of what you're talking about or you're just throwing stuff at random? This post deserves the fail smiley, now where is it. Oh, here: :FAIL:

PES 2011 is not even close to any other PES game before it. I don't know if it's because people haven't played it because the idea is actually laughable. Trust me when you play there isn't the time to see if the corner flags are fluttering in the breeze. The game requires constant concentration.

Still can't believe that this is even a point of discussion. Seriously it's night and day.

I remember seeing PES 2011 for the 1st time and thought "shit they don't have momentum or player inertia" in fact it's posted somewhere on this thread. But the moment you kick off you feel the weight of the player or when you try and keep a ball in play. There is just so much depth. The ball physics are also remarkably variable. A long ball may seem floaty then it has zip as it all depends on how the ball was connected.

I still want to score a long range piledriver from a cleared corner. You seriously feel as if you hitting the sweet spot much like real football when a ball rolls towards you and you have a 4 step run up. So far my shots have been thunderous but are rising just above the bar.

You focused on a fair point here. I have mostly the same opinion, it lacks animations to the keepers, in in this gen i always get the idea that the keepers are to tinny in comparison to the nets.

To explain what i mean, when you get a shoot at goal in the Beta demo, one that´s weak and lobbed shoot, the kepper sometimes have difficult in getting to the ball, it look that games of the juvenil 10 year old kids when they start to play football, when every high lobbed shot its nearly goal.

In the beta its not goal but it seems that the goalie almost will let the ball in because they are short :D:D.

Come on, it's a video game !
I guess you're suggesting the rival game (FIFA) is "not artificial"? If so, you're just trolling.

Its nothing like PES 2010 and surprise surprise the people who are saying it is are the usual suspects.

how's the player's responsiveness to changes in direction with the ball?
is it pes6'ish or pes10'ish?

For what i´ve played on the MLO Beta, its between the two.

Althoug not the best way to test it, with the demo we will be able to tell this for sure.

I wouldn't be so complementative as to suggest this game is like Pes 2010. It's more like Pes 2009.....in the hands of a dog. A labrador to be precise and not a golden one. :)

You should get over to the Fifa 11 forum if you want to complain about a game looking very similar to its predecessor.

For those you have/played the beta, Whats the crowd noise and atmosphere like?

Do they react realistically when players are through on goal, shots hit the post, bad fouls etc.

Also, whats the away crowd like when the away team scores?
