Erm, I think you missed the part where I said "come PES 2011". Obviously I can understand (and respect lol) people using the d-pad all these years, but having played it, PES 2011 is a game you MUST play on the analog in order to actually experience what is PES 2011. Unless you're too stubborn not to.

I've played with D-pad up until PES2 only.

My sentiments exactly, I'm playing probably my last ever session of Winning Eleven Blue Samurai, a game which I have really enjoyed since importing it. Roll on tomorrow, please be am :PRAY:

Oh and do I remember matchday on the spectrum and the amount of time I spent playing it, was round about the same time I was the envy of my team mates with my flashy Melchester Rovers tracksuit. Roy Race :WORSHIP:

same here.. and pes5 to 6 I played for ocrana.d-link ^^ I was top20 in the esl :D until I quit playing cause of my girlfriend ^^
 
Two late reactions:

About dpad: i remember reading an interview with Seabass where he said that PES is meant to be played with the dpad. That must have been around the time of PES6 (i'm not sure, but i'm quite sure it wasn't earlier). At the time most of the longtime members here played it with the dpad to my astonishment, i also play it with the analog stick).

about online FIFA manual or automatic. I play semi and i never play online so forgive me my question it could be sheer ignorance. If automatic players always beat manual players, isn't that some sort of "proof" that there is something wrong with the game (or with the concept of playing manual). I can see why one would like to play manual: total freedom and more realism (i would also play manual, but i'm not good enough). But what's the use of total freedom if you loose against people who play "on rails"? Total freedom should give you an advantage...if not, then there is something wrong? Or am i completely wrong?

@ Anderson: no problem, i just wanted to point out that respect is about human beings not about the way one plays aa video game...don't take this game too serious...i've been there and done that. It isn't very rewarding.

I don't play online either, unless it's against mates so I know how they play. But that is the whole problem with FIFA online, the manual guys (which are most of them on here) have been crying out for some balance since.....08,09? However EA just haven't bothered to adress this as it's use is limited when looking at the whole spectrum of users. It's just another example of how EA will introduce tech, to get the hardcore/media onboard, but neglect to properly integrate it. This has really become apparent with the last two releases, 360 has made the players skate, the hugely improved MM was a bugfest and broken, this year ProPassing and p+ are supposed to appease the hardcore but they have toned it down so much that it's become pretty meaningless and the MM is toned down to a minimum and a menu rip from the WC game. And still they haven't balanced the differences between assisted/semi/manual to create a balanced game.

Is having full control and not considering any stats realistic? Cambell passing same as Xavi?
 
Just paid 12 quid for PS+ just to play a PES demo a week early, I feel like a right mug. I promised myself that I would not do it when I read the announcement but the excitement is too much, I feel like a 6 year old on xmas eve. I have not bought a PES since 2008 and if you would of told me after the last 2 demos that I would be excited about a new PES release I would have died laughing but those gamescom vids look sooo good, I CANT F'KIN WAIT, PES BABY WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well you will get free games for the 3 months on top of the demo and early demos as well, so its not all bad!
 
wow, i just saw a post from ModdingWay, it says PS3 PES2010 is editable already!
sure you will need the "jailbreak" USB and by using the backup manager to obtain the IMG file,
open the IMG with GGS and you can do whatever you like!
OF is encrypted, but that's not a big deal, modifying the bins is enough already

I think this year OF for Pes 2011 on PS3 will be good enough. Backup is risk and SONY can ban you.
 
Anyone received this from PESfan?

Konami have announced the free demo of PES 2011 will be available on September 15th, allowing fans to play against the computer, or compete in offline multi-player matches.

The PS3 version can be downloaded from the PlayStation Network from September 8th, and the PC version available from http://www.konami-pes2011.com. The release date for the Xbox 360 demo is yet to be announced.


Now, I know there's this whole PS+ thing happening from today, but the wording there just made me wonder...

Highly likely that this will happen. At least, XP still has a big share of the desktop PC market (I guess it's still around 50%) so I wouldn't see a reason for PES2011 not to support XP.

...but you all know how this goes, right? Firmware 3.42 which just came out yesterday supposedly already takes care of Jailbreak... And unless someone bothers to make custom firmwares, just like for the PSP, this seems like a lost cause, because not updating your PS3 firmware makes you lose PSN and game updates...

I know it from experience, when Sony released the firmware that eliminated Linux, I avoided installing for one or two months... Then Tales of Monkey Island came out on PSN, and I wasn't going to be left out of it - and if it hadn't been for that, there would've been the PES beta and the PES demo...

By the way, does anyone know which EU versions have English text and commentary? I know that in the last year it was mostly the UK one. Has Jon answered that? Could someone ask him?

oh, i've heard the 3.42 also, jailbreak fixed,
but the PSjailbreak claims that they can update to maintain its function, just see if they can do it or not.
