PES 2011 Discussion thread

Hi guys its been a while since i posted on here and being one of Pes's biggest critics during the last 3 years or so i must say the latest videos are impressing me.

Online MasterLeague sounds cool but i really wish they had finished the offline mode first. Anyone who knows me on here knows all i want is to be able to switch clubs during a masterleague session just like in any other football career mode for the past 10 years.

The rainbow trick vids do look terrible for online players. It reminds me of the early Fifa games where you could just constantly press the bumber buttons to do spin move after spin move all the way up the park even with the goalkeepers and get rediculous score lines.

Heres a bad example recently discovered of someone clearly putting 4 rainbow trout in a row

Looking forward to Pes 2011 hope its turns out good

fifa demo is out on September 16.
pes2011 demo out on much.
PES demos always release 20 days before the full game ! I think the demo will come on 10 or 11 September !

On the one hand Ronaldinho_23 is right , just because there are too many bicycle kick goals in such a short time.

Not really, think how many games have been played. Also, I'd much prefer it executed the correct animation in-line with the situation. Rather than trying to head a ball that was waist high like PES 2010. Players need a high level of technique for the most part for this type of shot to be attempted. It's no coincidence most of these attempts have been by world class player's, or players with high technique.

I know we've already read that things have been ironed out and fixed etc, but we beta testers can only comment and feedback on what we see. I'd rather feedback all the negatives I've witnessed and make sure they got it rather than just hope they have them already noted and fixed, or on their to-do list.

If they were already ironed out, then Konami, or Jon Murphy, surely will respond telling us that :)

You could look at it like this, maybe konami didnt want to completely reveal there hand with the beta as theres every possibility a ea dev could sign up,get choosen, and ea would have ten days to scrutinize every little detail of the code.Theres things in pes2011 that have never been done before and are quite revolutionary, like, the new covering and tracking system.I know i wouldnt want my competitor to see my game in its entirity before release only at a stage in which they couldnt do anything about it.

Far fetched i know but it happens its a dirty industry this with high stakes.Ea did it with the penalty system in pes2010,within months they had copied it,made it work and put the camera behind the player just how the pes fans want it in FWC2010.

Coming back to degrading pitches and wet/dirty,shirts/shorts,these details arent as simple as just adding a permanent colour to a kit or texture to a face. They require complex calculations and put more strain on the game engine which effects the frame rate, how many frames of animation you can have and how much graphical detail,as they generally appeared later in the ps2 games when pes productions were getting the max out of that engine.Take fifa10 as a example,in this game you have skid marks left on the pitch(for a few seconds)after a player slides in the rain but if you play a friendly in FWC2010 in the same conditions there not there because ea upped the graphical ante in FWC2010 and something had to be comprimised and its the same with the snow which isnt as clear in FWC.Eveything you add has a knock-on effect on everything else thats why changing nets textures and shapes arent as easy as people think.

The game doesn't look good. Still lacks fluidity, and looks robotic. I can't see the new animations they're talking about. Passes still rocket from players feet. Crosses and high balls are improved but still not realistic enough.

I haven't played the game but I can tell you that much from the videos.

Yesterday was my day off work, I had so many little jobs and chores to do, and I thought I'll get them out of the way, and put some serious time into the MLO Beta. Needless to say, nothing got done, and I played the Beta for over 12 hours, with a slight break in between for my girlfriend to feed me, and give me some sexy time. Not a bad day off that.:)

I spent half of the day trying to find the best formation, and then buying and selling players to fill these roles. I tried 4-3-3 and the classic 4-4-2 diamond over a good few hours, but nothing felt as good as my favoured 3-5-2, so I ended up reverting back to that. I certainly created more chances with the 3 strikers, but at the expense of nice build-up football.

I played a guy who had Lavezzi, and to be honest, he caused me fits. I then made the stupid mistake of selling Suarez to fund Lavezzi, who was my favourite ML player in PES 2009. After 6-7 games, both myself and the fans missed Suarez, so Lavezzi and the 4-3-3 formation was given the boot, and I resigned Suarez. I then realised that my best option was to stick with my familiar and favoured 3-5-2, and just build and strengthen the quality in my team in each position, player for player.

I played in the competitions all day, in first one I got knocked out in the semi's by an own goal in the last couple of minutes, but still earned £3 million or more. In the second competition I got through to the quarters. I drew a player that had this ridiculous team, but when the game started, I could see he wasnt controlling his players. I thought he must be having a piss, so I tried in vain to get the ball and score, but the lag was terrible. After about 10 minutes game time, the match ended through poor connection. I then got a message saying that the disconnection had been reviewed, it was deemed to be my fault, and the other player went through to the Semi's ? WTF ?? I didnt know whether to laugh or cry. :CONFUSE:

The last competition I played, I got through the semi's again but had to leave as my girlfriend was waiting at her house for me with the lunch ready, my son took over and lost 1-0. Overall I think I earned about £9 million that day, which I was very happy with.

My main player target for my transfer funds was Fellaini, I have never played with him, in any PES game, but have played against him, and he is a monster. I bought him, and what a fucking player, the man is a machine, and really plays alot better than his stats suggest. I play him in a free central midfield role, he has Free Roaming and Covering (I think), and when your not in control of him and press pressure, I have never seen any player move so quick to break up play and muscle players off the ball. His passing is excellent, as is his lobbed through ball over the top. I was watching his movement on the pitch, and whenever my opponent broke halfway into my own half, I could see him running back offering immense cover. For £2.8 million he is an absolute steal.

I then bought Scott Parker to sit in the DMF role behind him. Parker has Covering, Passing, and a few other Player Cards, and again, he hunts you down and never stops running. I then gave some balance to my left SMF position with the left footed Luque, he has been outstanding. Also on the right I signed Abriel for £2.2 million, another player with the Passer Card and loads of technique, and the scorer of that stunning scissor kick I posted in the MLO Beta thread. I kept Ben Saada in the AMF role, and bought a Brazilian SS/CF named Jeda, who like for like was similar to Pandev, but about £1 million less. My Goalkeeper Van Loo is about 6 foot 10, and although a bit clumsy looking, is very solid in the sticks. I invested in another 2 big CB's, Cabrerra and cant remember the other. I got them both for £1.5 million each and they are strong enough to keep the likes of Ballotelli at bay. They cant play football, but they can certainly stop people from playing football. All 3 are also very dangerous at offensive set-pieces, and solid defending set-pieces.

Without any question, Suarez is my talisman, and play-maker supreme, everything goes through him and Saada. Suarez is so much stronger than Lavezzi, and has sublime feet and a killer pass. He looks so elegant on the ball and reminds me alot of Rui Costa with his presence.

Finally I feel very comfortable with my formation and players, and this game is just sooooo addictive it's almost impossible to put down. I'm loving the lobbed diagonal through ball from the left wing down the channel. And the fact if you just tap it, the high level players just dink one over the top, but when you add power, you can clip one 30-40 yards and into the path of the runner. So much control, but still completely stat attributed. It really is a remarkable engine.

Suarez Jeda

Luque Fellaini Abriel
Parker

Digao Caberra Whatshisface

Van Loo

That clip and the one prior to that look downright ridicolous. They better address this crap (for realism sake) and the rainbow combos (or else the online will be a shitfest) pronto if they want my money.

Don't forget the abortive last second attenpt at 360 dribbling last year. My only concern about the analogue movement speed Konami are talking about is that it might be a last minute response to EA announcing they were putting the same thing in, when in practice EA's analogue sprint doesn't seem to do anything significantly different from jogging or sprinting.

Also, the covering system was already in FIFA. It might even have been in FIFA 08; I can't remember. In any case the concept of the jockey press to stand off a player had been in FIFA for the last three titles (including WC) at least. All that Konami have really invented in this regard is mapping that control to the same pressure button and the left stick, rather than the jockey button plus the pressure button. Plus Konami have reduced the effectiveness to discourage pressure spamming.

Is the full defensive system in the beta then rom?i dont know i wasnt choosen and theres conflicting reports on this.

Just trying to get people to look at things with more of a open mind rather then taking the standard negative outlook that the games broken, konami dont care and there trying to dupe everyone.

Its to easy to be a armchair pundit without looking at both sides of the coin.I know that both ea and konami both copy but fifa10 is a blatant rip off of the old iss/perfect striker series in my opinion, even dave ruttler has openely admitted how fond it was of that series.Nothing wrong with taking a template konami are unwilling to recycle, its worked, look how well regarded fifa now is.Maybe konami are taking some of that back and re-engineering those old concepts in pes2011.

Like youve said before theres always a bit of overlap because its football but i played the iss series for years, still do and the similarities are uncanny. The thing is if fifa was so amazing, why are so many converts checking the news stream daily, because how ever technically good fifa becomes theres something missing and its alchemy rom, something that pes at is best gives you,a secret ingredient that goes well beyond cosmetics and ea just cant capture it.

Definately not. It's a rough Beta, it's like dirty gold. :)

Maybe an assumption yes, but you just can't make a judgement like that from videos mate. It is better than 2010 imo. Why I'm saying this because I couldn't feel at perfectly at home using the stick in 2010. Whereas in 2011 it feels just fine :)

The demo should give you the judgement you're looking for.

I think the game looks quite a bit better than 2010, judging from videos only, so I WILL try it. If I like it, it may be a buy. I haven't bothered buying any PES games since PES 6, this may be the first one.

How is the movement? Can you make subtle movements? Looking at the videos, it seems you can't, but again, I've yet to play it..

From what I've been playing, yes.

Guys, can we all refrain from abusing each other, please? My opinion on this is that it's a game, no one should be abusing no one in here. Let both positive and negative comments be spoken in here. This is a discussion thread. Doesn't mean trollage is allowed; if you witness any then use the report button. If some comments/opinions don't fit in with yours, then simply ignore. But fgs, I see no need for getting aggressive over a video game that is supposed to be entertaining. Just saying.

Very, very much so. When I played Young_Gun, he had this mastered, I found it difficult to even get challenge on him. He was like a snake, and I dont think he pressed the sprint button once.

And Lami, sorry mate, I kept missing those PSN messages, I cant have been in the room when you sent them bud.

No worries man. Was trying to play someone I know from here.

I like Tsubasa Ozora, he's a legend :SMUG:

Don't see anything wrong with doing a number of bicycle kicks in a match really. It all depends on the height of the ball and when you execute the shooting command. But if it always results in a goal then surely it is a problem.

I think lots of bicycle kicks and rainbow flicks attracts kids ;P
And you have to sell your game.

Kids dont care about that they are addicted to licences....Make any game without licences and with loads of arcade crap and it will not sell squat....Old gen FIFA taught us that.
