PES 2011 vs 2012 vs 2013?

@vialli82 a quick Google search gives me only 2 results. Citra which is the best option, and Retroarch, which comes second in reviews, and i have zero touch with it to be honest.
@slamsoze what's the name again about the other 3ds emulator than Citra? I tried another on the list and the game crashed lol.
I'm currently updating a game but that game non stop to freeze and it's more than annoying. It should have been quick, like it took me one day for the Premier League (i'm updating PES 14 PS2, on 3ds roster are up to date and it's called "WE 2014")

Thanks in advance (i add that version on my list of "curiosity", which means no idea if i will continue to play but sometimes you can be really surprised)

Retroarch is an all in one emulator (that means: all classic consoles pack emulators via one single application, at the same time downloading live those plugins to run a "rom" or a console "disk" image). You can use it for everything and it works great if you configure it correctly. The only part that lacks to be the number one emulator is that has so much console emulation in it that in the end this application would always be on the second place. The problem is that a polished single app specialized on a single type of emulation will run slightly better those specific classic console games, but as a second option Retroarch is the best option !!!

In the end it's very simple: if you don't want 10 apps. to emulate 10 consoles you'll go for Retroarch... If you want 10 different specialized apps to run 10 specific consoles then you'll need to investigate and use the "best" software made for it. I'm all for the second option...

Thanks, My problem is resolved : there's two executable in Citra. I took the "beta" one... Of course lol.

Now it's running faster and without freeze, thanks... But i really remember a conversation about emulator which was "better" something like Citra or Nightly i don't remember well. Some days ago. Don't remember what console emulated you where talking about lol, or a mod for console (no idea).

BTW not quite easy to check and compare faces, found the one missing/or the one in more, checking the name on his back then looking if the players is IG or not.
+ I found a system to have the exact Growth type (rated on 265 i think, no idea what the diff between "Standard / 3" vs "Standard 58". Will investigate and make test later, just for my/our PES general culture lol.
Nightly , yeah, that's the name. It is a "version" of Citra. Nightly and Canary. I mean they are both Citra versions.

...We recommend installing both versions but using Citra Nightly as it is the more stable version; only switch to Citra Canary...

Thanks mate but i prefers separate emulator on PC (only), i got it on a folder... But i play on my big 4k with a Raspberry pi 3b+ with almost 6000 games on it (all type, hack only when it's corrective or colors changers, i don't like self made patch but restoration ones i love it)
... So i don't play on PC for emulation any more as i got what i need on real hardware.. With one exception i will finish one day : Ultimate G'N'G on PPSSPP. i prefers on a smaller screen like the one on my desk, more a size for working or whatever else than gaming. Well PsP is an exception.

Also play some old PC games like Bioshock trilogy and endend the 1st Souls on it. Sometimes a PES to lauch, the 2008 especially or 2014 but it's very rare.
I own a PS3 jailbreak and FIFA 14 on PS4 so... For Fifa versions, it's better. + i ain't a fan of the 12 and the 13 is a lower version of the 14 so...

>So in brief : my Rasberry and Batocera + a scanlines generator , and since i brought it i don't play emulation on PC.
I Just to check on PCSX2 / 3DS / PPSSPP etc. for editing and patchs, that's all. But i play them on my PS2.

Already talked about it but if i brought a console i will buy a real 3DS XL, like the Wii, is a full experience platform, not for emulation to me.
But i given up as the price are excessive. And i only use it not to play but to recopy players lol.

Now, you're right about Retroarch Windows, as long as you update the core regularly. But there's not an as good Genesis Emulator from 2005 like Kega Fusion... Less option etc.
I tried games on N64, i was "Wow, it's super fast in comparison to what i tried before", but i didn't checked the new Project64 version, running games almost perfectly. Well it's not a console that i care that much, from Nintendo take the Wii for shooter and 3DS XL like i said before. But i don't think the prices will drops one day, it will be more the opposite (rarety ... mo-money)

That the nightly version which blocked the game 😅
The one with "qt" at the end is running perfectly. Didn't crashed since an hour vs every 3-4 minutes with Nightly. Guess it depends to some GFX card factor got no idea.

to be honest 2010 and 2013 are best due to what you want. 2010 is kinda pes6 with good graphics but its ai is really bad.
on the other hand, 2013 and 2012 are almost indentical. they have unique gameplay which is so arcade.
2011 is worse.. you cant even dribbling, if player hasnt speed merchant card.

In my opinion, this series has at least one interest : they are the last ones to support LAN mode.
Meaning, with tools like Hamachi, or any VPN, they can still be played online.

So if we think about it, it has quite some advantages :
- Run on a low specs PC
- Still available in physical format, very cheap and with easy to find "no-DVD" patches
- Nice offline modes (Champions League, Europa League, Copa Libertadores and a very nice Masters League)
- Features a LAN mode, meaning technically playable online

Personnally, I've all 2011, 2012 and 2013 on PC.
If I'm not wrong, even the PS3 versions feature a LAN mode.

Pes 2010 should be listed on the versions 08 - 09 - 10.
Otherwise for me it's PESedit on PC, they keep the essence of the original version but they add tons of new things.
They were the best for stats without doubt, and about D2 you can choose between Bundes 2, Serie B, Championship and Ligue 2 (so 78 teams just for D2) and tons of clubs from Europe, new stadiums etc.

I got them for 2011-12-13 versions but i never download the last patch after summer transfers. I'd like to keep it on their season.

But on my PS3 i just tried a patch season 2025 for PES 2013 : all faces seems to be done, i need to correct fastly the guy seems to recopy directly stats from EF2025 but i need to make some small corrections here and there (Stamina is too high for Attacker and Central back etc.)

I own a simple option file for PES 2011 on PS3 (PC > my beloved Pesedit), i just need to found a basic OF for PES 2012. I'd rather prefers the 2011 and then 2012 as they're more physical, then when a player is alone running from the goal even if he isn't that fast, it's impossible to catch him.
And i don't know if it's me but from all teams my def. line got the 4 or 3 players seems a bit isolated on their position. Also many moves doesn't fit with ball physics like a flat shot taking an outside curve for no reason but i don't belive it's like new Fifa where players are interconnected. The ball is free, but too light aswell as the players in terms of feeling.

Something i don't feel in 2011. But in 2013 when Passing, s;hooting, running with the ball and defending is not that famours (not horrible, just my opinion), it's all the football basic moves, even if some can vbe moddes i won't loose my time on it. Hard to really like a game when you're not a fan of their fundamental (i got the same for Fifa 16, don't kill me please guys)

Ah yes i rediscovered Pes 2009 ps3; in the past all seemed too fast bu it's not that much the case::: Perhaps when you compare to Fifa 08 or 09 but there's faster version on PS2.
I own too 2010, i'm in love with graphisms i founded futuristic when the game was out. Light seems so true... Also models and faces where almost perfect.
But i aint a fan as it's way too easy to score in any difficulty, sad.;

2012 i didn't played it that much, i need to give it a retry. No idea if they all support Online, but i thrust you (at least on PC, with a PS3 jailbreaked it preferare to not doing it lol)

Edit: i really need to made a session on 2012 as he wasn't popular when he was out (always with Fifa engine comparison) but since some years a lot of people said it's fun, dynamic, a good version and better than 2013 for them

I also use to like 2009 on PS3.

@NeoRetro , what's your preference in this trilogy ? 2011, 12 or 13 ?
I edited my post, typing error...
PES 2011 no contest to me. The engine and animations fits exactly for the game, the 2 others especially 2013 added some animations which didn't followed players movement especially when kicking the ball. Then there's too much space, i take goal only on counter attack... Boring against the CPU but if that one can run from the half of the pitch and score without problem, often he do it; nothing to change in terms of IA when something works 7 times on 10 and gives results.

Now defending is harder but i deal with it. Just the issue is even tackles got a small lag so if the opponent turn while you are about to do a standing tackle, fault.

@Juventino32 do you think that PES 2009 PS3 is a bit different than PC? To me it feels a bit less direct and a bit slower. Placebo perhaps.

I've only played it on PS3 (although I recently got a copy of it on PC, I've not tried it yet).

Back in the days, I waited PES 2009 to buy my PS3 (as 2008 had too bad reviews, I still bought it on PS2 and did not regret this move).

PES 2009 was my football game since its releave until I bought my next football game which was FIFA 2013 (to me, the best football game during the PS360 era).

I've not touched PES 2009 since the release of FIFA 13 to be honest...

Interesting to read peoples thoughts on this era, definitely one of the lesser loved eras for me personally. I have always been a bit confused by the love for 2013 specifically, or at least it seems to be the one that people still talk about and make patches for etc.

I've recently been giving it another go on the ps3 (v1.04 on an emulator) and yeah, I still don't get it lol. Now perhaps I am a harsh critic; PES5 for me is king, PES3 is a game I truly love, and then there was that year Konami decided to randomly create a masterpiece in between the mediocrity with 2017. That's the only non ps2 pes I played all year long and beyond. It plays a great game of football.

But 2013 vanilla is a mess! Maybe I need to try the PC version and look into the patches? But in my dozen of so matches it all came back to me why I really disliked it all that time ago.

- Defending doesn't exist. Like the act of actually taking the ball when tackling isn't there, so it just goes wherever. You can be patient and position yourself to cut off passing lanes etc. but it's ultimately futile when tackling is this ineffective.
- There no midfield really. It just goes from one end to the other. And similar to previous point, there's zero physicality in any challenges.
- The goalkeepers. Probably the worst keepers in any football game. Any shot with any real power just goes through them. I remember this being a major issue when it was released and for me they didn't improve much in the subsequent patches.
- THAT stumble animation. The fact that it's always the same when you run side on with the opponent and is completely pre-determined. Horrible.
-The ball physics are just really weird, it doesn't feel like a football. And it rolls forever!

Yeah, safe to say I am not a big fan. Each to their own of course this is not meant as an attack on those who do enjoy 2013, we all look for different things in these games. I might give the PC versions of this era a go at some point with some patches. 2011 was the other game I might try out again, I remember that game promising much and ultimately disappointing back in the day but it would be interesting to try again now like I have with 13. but I think in terms of non ps2 titles 2017 will continue to stand alone for me.

If the game has LAN support, no need to jailbreak the PS3 to play it online. What is needed is an application like XLinkKai or Hamachi on the same local network.

I like to watch @MONSIEURQUINTON videos (and especially the retro ones). Je placed 2012 and 2013 on par and 2011 below.

Ha, MonsieurQuinton really, but REALLY piss me of everytime he open his mouth. He's contradictory and so, he don't even know what he wants for then the vids clickbait IT WAS BETTER BEFORE (even before EF so) like "15 things better in PES 2013 than in PES 2021" made me sick.

I can answer to him in 10 minutes 20 things better or in more in 2021 or even 2017, 2019 than in 2013 but since he got no idea what subject to abord, he became more than mediocre. I remember he wasn't that ininterresting on his prime vids.

Sorry if you like him mate but me he became a broken disc. The only thing he got in more than us is an eye-camera and like to show him on vids (i'm personnally more reserved and from... Another Era lol), so vids without substance as mr obvious stuffs not pertinent at all.
I admit on some vids i founded him happy and i don't really hate him (he just put me on my nerve with clickbait title and blabla he said on his vids)
And what i hate the most is that when he said something > he said "opinion" on the answers but there's something called body language showing that it's clarely a statement and it won't listen if you bring back some solid arguments in front of him.

Also, his favourite football game ATM is GOAL'S, that game was out and no one here notified it or reacted about  and that's normal as that game is pure shit X-men goalfests, like his name.

I read here on on some PES 5 or 2008 thread way smarter debate and thoughts around PES/WE between us, old-school or not. More measured, by members like Juventino32, millossobek, Madmac, Marquis, BluesyShimper (i take all people who talk about retro aswell as PS4 version or what Efootball can become "If" etc.) tons of members i forgot also some absents from retro and the forum globally but pertinent in recent games and other threads .

As you're french from language, i know much more interesting people such as the ones who grown up as fan like me like Boillzzz, and CarloPits, (i can't believe that Mr Quinton invited him, it should have been the opposite) then he knows WAY better all PES and Fifa subtilities and got a clear picture of what he really want as a football game brand. I was on WEarePES band and we got much higher intellectual exchange. Watch Bruce Grannec (world champions 2 times at PES 3 time on Fifa) vids, he doesn't take him seriously, more humble and positive even with UFL saying that it's super hard to create a Football game from scratch and he said the gameplay path UFL took seems to go on the good side.

I would like to have one exchange with him, on podcast or cam i don't care because someone needs to giving him a big baffle to wake him up. It was and still hard for many of us to lost our annual football game + another in that F2P format, but after 5 years we did our grieving process and switched to something else, even see some quality in the pachinko devil game : no one take his tomatoes to trow to them when we said there's some positive stuffs in the gameplay on EF.

PS / He's here on EVO lol, i didn't know lol, but i won't correct my message as i give arguments regarding WHY i can't watch him at all anymore

<<<<<<<

I'd be more measured than you are and also disagree with him on some aspects.

I also think we all contradict ourselves sometimes as our opinions change too.

Ex. I used to find PES 2008 more difficult than WE 2008 but in the end, I am not so sure anymore.

Overall I still like to watch his videos. The one I mention here is indeed the one with Carlopits who seem to also have a solid background with football games.

And finally, I also prefer the debate we all have here. ;-)

I know, my point of view about him his subjective. There's people you can't see anymore for dumb reason.
Didn't hated it before, but since some years....
Well we don't really care, it's like an humorist or movies who can touch you but not some others etc.

I also think we all contradict ourselves sometimes as our opinions change too.

Ex. I used to find PES 2008 more difficult than WE 2008 but in the end, I am not so sure anymore.

Of course, but him is the type of guy who got an idea and that one will never change.
Like his "test" about Efootball : everyone practically said to him "calm down, it's not a test but taking a game as a punching ball"

That vid was totally awful. He can't have a little bit of objective analysis as he get traumatized by Efootball since 5 years.... Sad but well, when you hate as much as he hate the game for extra reason than gameplay, just don't talk about it. Stop repeating it, mentioning it even if it's off conversation on every vids.
But it's not only for it that i can't with it, when he read a "special official paper" and share conclusion without doubting about what he said. It became a bit physical now lol.

We're sad for him, but for us too so those guys should stop remind us that we can't really play that game or edit or whatever else.
He still blocked on september 2021 with the 0.9.0 version in his eyes, then all the shortcuts like "it's running on Phone so it's a Phone game... People didn't tried it then, it looks okay but way to far in terms of animations/controls than consoles version.

Talking about the september 21 trauma i remember saying that "people will be marked and never forget. It will be hard to people/us to combine that name with defeat/terrible etc." it's physical for some people and i get it. Now personally it's been a too long time for me to considers than game as a small mobile one when the game got more anims than in PES 2021, Analog run and others slow dribbling movement reactive but keeping logic like whe mentioned with @H_G that that stuff was missing in Pes 2021 / even if i like the inertia type where you got to wait an anim to finish fo enchain with another one .

Quinton should pass to something else but i don't think he will as those vids makes views.
Yeah about Carlo he didn't got preference at the time between Fifa and Pes, and we got long debate regarding gameplay. Like here with you ;)
In all respect and after all those 20-25 years we still bring some interesting question on the table.
