Hi everyone,
After PES 2013, it's PES 2010's turn. Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 (PC) can be played online again, straight from the game's own online menu, just like when Konami's servers were up. No VPN, no Hamachi, no Radmin.
The pes6.es team has built a new server for PES 2010, the tenserver. It runs alongside our PES5, PES6, PES 2008, PES 2009 and PES 2013 servers.
This is a beta. Quick matches and rooms have been played start to finish; the rest is open but still being tested. If something doesn't work, tell us in this thread.
What you can do
How we did it
PES 2010 is where Konami's newer online system started. PES 2013 uses the same family of messages, but PES 2010 has an earlier version with its own servers, so the tenserver isn't a copy of the 13server. We worked out the messages by reverse-engineering the game itself – login, lobbies, rooms, quick match, end of match, divisions and friends – and built the server on the same base as our other servers.
How to join
The server is already open to everyone. You need the PC version of PES 2010, version 1.01 (that's what we tested with).
1. Edit your hosts file. Open Notepad as administrator, open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, remove any line that already has one of these names (if you've played PES 2010 online on another server, it will have its own lines) and add these five at the end:
If you already play PES 2013 with us, keep its lines: the info.service.konamionline.com line is the same for both games.
Then open a command prompt and run ipconfig /flushdns.
2. Log in from the game. Go to the online menu and accept the terms the first time. When it asks for your KONAMI ID, type the name you want to play with and a password. The first time, that creates your account; next time, use the same ones. Don't use your pes6.es password or one you use anywhere else.
3. Pick the server PES2010 and a lobby, and you're in.
Everyone needs the same game data. If you can't join someone's room, check that both of you are on version 1.01 with the same patch, if any.
If something goes wrong
See you on the pitch!

P.S. It's a beta: over the next few days you may notice short downtimes while we keep improving the server. When you report a problem, tell us your player name, the time and what you were doing: the server logs every message, so that's enough for us to find it.

What you can do
- Quick match: the server finds you an opponent and the result counts for your points and your rating
- Rooms: create your own (with a password if you like) or join someone else's, with lobby and room chat. Friendly rooms have rematch; ranked rooms count for your rating
- If your opponent leaves in the middle of a match, the win goes to you
- Open but still in testing: divisions with promotion and relegation, friends list and blacklist, player search, your profile and your last 10 matches, and the room owner's tools (kick a player, rename the room, change its password)
- Not there yet: the online rankings

If something goes wrong
- Can't connect to your opponent? Forward UDP port 5739 to your PC on your router, or turn on UPnP. On 4G or behind two routers it may not work. Close PES 2008 before you start PES 2010: they use the same port.
- The game stays on "Online" with the wheel spinning, or can't reach the server? Check the five lines in your hosts file. Make sure you saved it as administrator and that it's still called hosts, with no .txt. Then run ipconfig /flushdns again. Some antivirus programs put the hosts file back the way it was.
- The match drops after a few minutes? Don't let Windows turn off the screen or go to sleep while you play (Settings > System > Power > Never). The gamepad doesn't count as activity for Windows.
See you on the pitch!
