PES 2009 Resolution Setting

I'm running PES 2009 on Win7, but the LB setting doesn't appear to work, so the screen is stretched! Is anyone else having issues like this? Or does anyone know a way round it?

Use XP: cheaper and better

or hope that MS release a bugfix (that's quite impossible)

[This is the advice of someone who owns several personal licences of XP, Vista and 7 and prefers XP to play and Ubuntu (free) to do everything else (I'm on Ubuntu now)]

I've tried it in XP compatibility mode, but that made no difference. PES 2010 demo seems to do the same thing, but doesn't look as stretched.
