I have to set it to 60HZ to get at the right speed with vsync and frame skipping on. Anyone else?

Thanks for the tip on the 60HZ I have a 8600GT Graphics Card and I had my monitor set at 75HZ and I couldnt change V-SYNC and it was really slow and stuttery.
Changed to 60HZ and now I have V-Sync switched on the game plays fast and smooth as you like.
Absolute perfect.

PES2009 is VERY SLOW..., the ball looks like it "flows" to MARS' surface..., refs giving yellow cards just if you... blink your eye to your opponent (!), goalies are failing to stop STUPID/SILLY easy shots and BLOCKING "THUNDERBOLS" from 2 yards, players are STATIC (not doing "movement" to taking advandage) in many scenes in a game...
...and so on, so on.

Either your PC is not up to the required standard to run the game
or you need to tweak settings.
Your describing a totally different game to the one I am running.

I have to agree. I was playing the demo and everyone was slow, the ball was slow. Change your settings: v sync on, frame skipping on, and a decent resolution. 1024 and 16:9. I have it outputting to my 42" plasma via DVI to HDMI and it looks and plays Sweet! Just into the knockout of the Champs league.
Some obsevations:
Keepers dont seem to be as dodgy as in the demo.
Through balls are more accurate and come off more.
Passes can and will go exactly where you dont want them!
I'm liking it more and more.

If you want to change the game speed it can be sorted out pretty quickly when an editor with global editing comes out

I tried turning the refresh rate to 60hz and turned on Vsync and frame skipping and the result....
was that i had the most arcadish game of football i have ever seen!!!

The game is good (much better than PES 2008) but it has so MANY bugs. I mean, bugs in the gameplay... For example, sometimes the keeper goes a bit crazy and doesn't defend some easy shots (I'm talking about great keepers - e.g. Julio Cesar), sometimes the ball just "slips" through the players, and so on... it's a shame that Konami released a so bugged game!
Besides that, if you're playing with a good team (e.g Liverpool), the game just becomes too easy... all you have to do is pick Robbie Keane and pass through the defense using R2 button (in a PS2 controller), because defenders are SO dummy in this game! They just should have kept PES 6 defense system (which was way more difficult than the current version)... well, nothing is perfect after all. Let's just hope that this patch introduces more than new transfers and new teams.

Solutuion for me was really simple, actually it was a fluke i found it.
If your default camera is "Wide" change it to "Normal Long" or "Normal Medium".
The game is noticeably quicker.
I have a intel 2.66 core 2 duo, 256 nvidia, 4gb ram. Changing the graphics settings made no difference at all.

im playing with a amd athlon 3500+ and a 6600 GT at 1440*900 and high quality and everything runs smoothly...
As for the gameplay, i don't really like the passing system (some passes end up in different players other than the one i try to pass the ball to)and the players' off the ball movement isn't very good...i hope konami fixes this with a patch cause it's really annoying. Other than that there were good improvements
