i'm getting really hacked off with konami this year.
been thinking about getting pes2008 with ps3 as a bundle,
only to be told that basically it suffers from slowdown and not much improvement.
so thought i could go back to ps2 for one more season of pes, only to then see how crap some of the faces are - namely ronaldinho and materazzi, and the graphics seem to look even more shady...
fuck...
now i'm completely lost and wondering if i should be converting to xbox360!
 
I just got the promotional copy of the PS3 version and tried to get online. While, the servers could be down since the game's not out until 26th of October and last year the servers were running just a day before the release of the game, I could access the servers and...

On the PS3, you have to create a new account and also type in a serial code that comes with the disc and the interface is the PS3 web browsers so it's pretty fucking slow going. Also, I typed in my serial only to be told it's already in use...wtf?! I can understand the series stuff due to the rampant piracy on the PS2, but what the hell...type one thing wrong in the registration process and you have to retype EVERYTHING.

Somehow I think Konami's going to get a lot of crap for this.

is it a full copy or just a demo?
 
IGN: In the PS3 version we've played we noticed some slow-down in the game, plus the crowd and stadiums aren't as polished as some of the on-pitch features. Will you look to rectify this in the next game?

Seabass: Of course. To be honest I don't think the slow-down is that bad compared to the 360 and as I said, we don't create just a PS3 game, we created both together. But when we compared them directly we were shocked because the PS3 has a little bit more slowdown and we don't really know why.

Fair play- does suggest more slow down on PS3. disappointing when it's supposedly more powerful.

Totally agree with the bit about L2 & R2 buttons- having played PES6 on my PS3, it's far harder to use R2 to jink past players. I now subconsciously never use R2 at all, which is a shame.

It’s by no means perfect: the frame-rate drops when the screen gets really busy, usually during a quick clearance when the box is flooded with players or, occasionally, during a replay. But, when you’re actually stuck into the action, it’s likely you won’t really notice or indeed care. Of course, some players will think that a drop in frame-rate on a machine as powerful as PS3 is an absolute travesty and, in some respects, they’d be right. But if a flaw as incidental as this prevented said players from buying PES 2008 altogether, they’d be missing out on the most realistic, intelligent and enjoyable football experience on console yet.

to be honest, even if its only a slightly updated version of pes6, but with hd graphics and a couple of new features, im still gonna play the hell out of it. Everyone needs to lighten up a bit.

Oh dear what a shame, I have read countless posts on how the PS3 version is going to be far superior, blah blah blah. And did they listen when I said they will be identical because Konami are not going to have 2 teams making 2 different versions, Nope they wouldn't have it, there special black box was best.

Never did I come across any posts were a 360 owner bragged and was convinced there version would be better.
